Another ESO event without curated drops

I opened my gold Jesters Festival reward box on PC EU today and inside it was a gold Cadwell’s style page that was first given out several years ago. For some reason unbeknownst to players, it did not contain one of the new gold style pages being offered this year.

@ZOS, if you want a quality of life fix which players will appreciate, it’s fixing stuff like this. At no point should a gold level item from several years ago - especially one already earned/learned by the player - be the primary reward in a gold level event box. There should not be a single one of these Cadwell pages in these gold event boxes this year or any subsequent year. Instead, the only gold items should be new ones from this year’s collection. These items should also be curated so that I don’t receive the same one every day while having not received some of the others. What amount of asking and begging do players need to do to make this happen?

Stuff from previous years should be availabe in a separate bag to be sold at the empresario.
I've asked for this change several times, in all anual events, without any success so far.
Why ZOS keep doing it? Beats me.

This is my 5th year doing Jester's Festival, every year for every day of the event I've done all daily quests, and I'm still sitting at 2/7 Sovereign Sow fragments. Seriously???

Um, I don't think the old Cadwell's style pages prevent the new ones from dropping-- that is, it doesn't seem to be a "one page or the other" scenario where getting a Cadwell's page means you're prevented from getting a new page. I say this because of four things: (1) I received both a new "One Bad Knight" page plus an old Cadwell's page in my first (golden) event coffer on PC EU today; (2) the old Cadwell's pages have a chance to drop from purple event coffers; (3) the new "One Bad Knight" pages drop exclusively from the once-a-day golden event coffer but only have a chance to drop rather than a guaranteed drop; and (4) the daily golden event coffer can contain anything else that the purple event coffers can.

So you got an old Cadwell's page because it's a potential drop from the purple event coffers, and the fact that you did not get a new "One Bad Knight" page in your daily golden event coffer had nothing to do with whether you happened to receive an old Cadwell's page or any other old rewards from a previous year's Jester event.

By letting the old rewards drop from the purple event coffers instead of having to be bought with Trade Bars in "grabbags," ZOS is giving players a chance to obtain those older items without having to "buy" them. Those older items are not polluting or diluting the RNG loot pool for the golden event coffers, because they have no impact on whether or not you can get one of the new pages in your golden event coffer.

they do already have that, its called the grab bags (other long running events for sure already have this such as the witches festival)

now how fast they move stuff into said grab bags can be an issue, i could see them keeping an event item around for current and maybe the following year event, but it should just go into the grab bag after 2 years

I'm conflicted about having old items drop from purple coffers versus having them available in a grab bag.

It's good to be able to get them from purple coffers without having to buy them.

But on the other hand, having them in a grab bag makes it easy to see if you're missing something from past years' events-- because if the grab bag isn't grayed out then there's still at least one item you don't have yet.

The same thing happened to me in a previous event. The very first gold box I opened had a gold style page from another event, and no gold style page for the current one. The gold boxes on subsequent days contained the correct style pages.

Maybe the loot tables aren't being updated quick enough for when events start?

Same for me. I play now for 6 years on PC and never ever get a new fragment. And there is no option to buy it.

Agreed. The RNG for the Jester's Festival boxes is an absolute joke -- I got a Caldwell page from forever ago also, but nothing that would get me bars so I could get the motifs from the Impresario. I also only got one motif from crates. I refuse to grind when the chances of me getting my pages or bars is this bad. I mean, I even just ran some of my mules and nope, my character slots are almost maxed out and no bars or motifs. I wound up just buying them from guild traders because apparently some people have much better luck than me.

Oh and please fix the RNG for the Crown Crates also. Just....bad.

At least keep the Impresario goods from past events in the new store that uses the bars.

Yeah, certainly not a curated drop with the Mount fragment of now that you can earn for free -

You are lucky you get 1000 Trade Bars saved ; you are unlucky, well too bad, pay 1000 Trade Bars, next event, to get it.

Is really what the devs intented? If so gotta be lucky, if not, you fail at the game.

@Threemoons What do yo mean by "chances of me getting my bars"? Bars are a guaranteed drop with the first golden box. They come in a separate satchel that you need to open in order for the bars to be added to your trade bar counter.

Edit: same as it was before with event tickets but there is no limit now and they come in a separate container.

RE the Bars--yeah, I mis-read on that one. Now I have to scramble to get the last fragment for the recall. Hopefully mount fragment will be available next event...
