Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

I'm a little shocked that these improvements aren't built in the game...

I'm kinda both extremely happy (from pc master race tinkering happiness) and at the same time extremely shocked that I had to mod a subscription mmo to "fix" a honestly broken out of the box experience with the graphics..

1) SweetFx must be used. The colour changes in the presets are subjective, but what it does do generically is apply some sort of filtering (that seems like anios on streroids) that make the textures look magnitudes better. This should be in the base game at least. Just in case.. many people seem to be using the perfection one.. I find this one (vision sfx) much better. http://sfx.thelazy.net/games/preset/1610/

2) Field of View.. The game murders itself many times over by applying the console fov. ESO is crying out from immersion to be playing in fps view and at ~65 degrees its kinda nauseating. I had to download eso launcher.. set the field of view to 110-115 degrees and I LOVE ESO NOW. I explore using fps mode and its such a good experience. Combat doesn't work in fps mode.. its just not effective, but you can mousewheel out just one level and with the increased fov is just too good.

These are large gamechanging differences, and its very slack that these need to be modded in.

ps. In addition I did have to do other things to find fun as well.. if you're also struggling here are some things I can't live without:
- Roll a Templar. This was the last class i tried as i strongly dislike paladins, but its a must here. At least the sorcerer is borked for your first character. I know many people are casters, and this one was a little sad to find.
- Don't play EP as your first faction.
- Inventory mods are absolutely necessary.
- Map mods are also necessary.

Anyways.. fix the graphics and fov.. This turns eso from hovering above average into something close to amazing. Just go and look at the screenshots for the vision sfx preset..

On SweetFX it requires a high spec computer to support it for decent performance and the PC client needs to cater for a wide range of customers computers including older or lower specs models. It removes fog which itself will hit performance hard.

When the 64-bit client comes out it will provide a lot more opportunity for some graphical enhancements.

Also, it is subjective and I find the colours to saturated.

On FoV it is already in the works for a future Update confirmed recently in the Matt Firor The Road Ahead article posted recently.

I don't understand what you mean by "sorcerer is borked" ? Are you saying they aren't viable, because I am a sorc, currently VR8 and have been able to solo everything quest wise and some world bosses along with being able to tank or dps for vet dungeons just fine. I see a lot of people complaining about content being "difficult" and I just think its their inability to adapt. ESO classes are very different than any other MMO because the game give you the tools to take on any role you just have to be smart enough to know how to.

Sweetfx doesn't remove fog.. eso launcher does, but you have to manually change it.. if you leave it as default the fog stays on. Yeah i tried it, and chose to leave it on for a number of reasons.

I can definitely understand how more colors may not be to peoples tastes, but getting rid of the washed out look, like a film of dirty soap water being over all the graphics, is worth having sweet fx. There are other presets which hold true to the out of box colors if you want them.

Re sorc, yeah not sure about end game, started recently so not at level 15 yet. Was thinking specifically to do with fun factor for people new to eso combat. I got a sorc to level 10 and
    - Was bored of the abilities.
    - Further, couldn't find any acceptable combination of swapping out weapons and armor that would make it not boring (and i thought through them all, i want to be a caster)
    - Even further and worst of all, didn't feel powerful/op. Sure it kills enemies quicker, but thats not much of a consolation when you take a 2 mob melle group. Kiting is not dps. I bet as an advanced class later focused on group roles it will definitely be awesome, but just for first time easy access fun with the quests i didnt like it. Which was the surprise.

The 64-bit version will be on a different build track than the 32-bit version?

I agree, I'm on a tank'ish sorcerer atm, (heavy, 1H&S + 2H) character is just a beast and fun as to play.

Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?
