Daily rewards

Well it's been a month. I used to login every day, get the reward, do the three endeavors, the IC daily and that chest in Southern Elsweyr. I'd see like minded players farming skeletons or atronachs, even duel a random stranger. I didn't really even care about the rewards, I just collected them. A simple little low effort task to gnome around the game. They're all gone now. WIllowgrove is quiet, the group event in Sanguine's Demense isn't wiped, I'm not using poisons or visiting houses. I still log in every day, just with less to do and less reason to stay. Maybe some people really felt overwhelming anxiety over missing a handful of Dreugh Wax or enough seals to buy a non-combat pet I don't know. The old system wasn't broken, and I hope whatever replaces it restores the lost sense of purpose.

Cheers

Since everyone has a different set of weekly Tome challenges (and they can be rerolled) we'll still see people doing these little tasks... just spread out over the week, and spread out doing different tasks from one another. Basically you won't find a bunch of people doing the same little tasks each day as if it's an event.

I for one am happy not to feel like I have to log in every day. I did skip days before the change though.
I am ok with it. When I do log in I can do other things Ive wanted to work on but didnt because of the every day daily.

I missed the daily login rewards and daily endeavors when they went away, and for the first several days I always felt like there was something I was forgetting to do, because I used to check the daily and weekly endeavors at least a couple of times each day to be sure I would give myself time to do them.

But I miss them less and less. I've got more time to do whatever I feel like, such as getting back into working through the zone questlines I haven't done yet, or working on collections and achievements.

I'll be a bit of a contrarian on this. I absolutely do not miss feeling like I needed to log in every day to rack up the x-daily-logins to get some particular reward. I'm pretty close to a daily player and I probably miss the AP, Tel Var, and Dreugh Wax more than the rest of the junk, but free stuff is free stuff and what's not useful for me could be a goldmine for some other player.

I do kinda miss the daily/weekly endeavors, though. Something similar should show up with Season Zero and we'll just have to see how it goes, but I got my 2500 seals from the pursuits this month, so no hard feelings on that. Even got be to do a couple of BGs. For a PvE'er, it was fun enough that I might just keep it up (if it's red, kill it; if it's blue, heal it or buff it, and try not to die in the process).

This idea makes me laugh, getting anxiety because of a video game. Frustration, sure but anxiety? ROFL!

FOMO is best confined to time away from your family, watching your children grow up, helping shape your grandchildren into well-rounded adults, not the trivial nonsense of a video game no matter how entertaining it may be.

    Just my two cents.

I agree with you, OP. The game has felt emptier since Update 49. We'll see what happens April 2.

I haven't missed the login rewards at all. I've missed endeavors more, so I'm looking forward to season 0 next week.

Like others, I noticed a drop in population -- emptier cities, even Leyawiin was deserted -- until the Jester's Festival started.

i would say that without the daily login rewards and endeavors, there are some days of the week i dont even bother logging in anymore, even when those days i would at least login to do those when i wanted to play something else that day

with the jesters festival there is at least 1 daily activity to bother with now, and when they start the tamriel tomes that will help, but for me personally, i can easily see myself burning through all of the available tasks in the tomes as fast as they are given so i still expect some days where i wont have much a reason to login unless EVERY day gives you a new tome task to do

I used to log in everyday too. Get the rewards and then do other stuff cause it was a case of "I'm logged in now". I would then spend hours doing quests, dailies, crafting etc.

But since they removed the Daily Rewards, I don't have the motivation to log in now. I'm mainly down to one day a week, just to do trials on a Sunday or if need be to put in a bid for a trader if the GM can't for some reason.

If the goal was to get people playing less, than I guess ZOS has succeeded. A number of our guild members on Discord even said the same thing. They are now playing less, with some even not logging in for over a month now and just playing others games instead.

I think the main mistake was to end the old reward systems early, leaving a significant gap before the first tome. There's kinda overall been nothing to do this month. But maybe when the tome starts up it will engage people similarly to the daily tasks, we'll have to wait and find out I guess.

Even more than that, they really need to push out some content. There's an even longer gap before we get night market. People stop playing when there's nothing new to do - this was a problem in past years when they cut the Q4 DLC and the end of the year patch was super light, and it's going to be a problem as long as they allow these long content droughts to occur.

Maybe they could have kept daily rewards until the Tome started, but wait until the Tome rewards begin before spending too much time missing the old system.

As it is, I'm missing two days of Jester's Fest rewards, and it feels bad.

I think logging on and choosing what we want to do with rerollable and nondaily rewards will ultimately be more rewarding.

I kinda have the opposite. When dailies were a thing I often would log off sooner because it often felt like chores and some days it didn't feel like the dailies respected my time. I've been enjoying doing what I want to everyday and feeling more free to reconnect with things I love without feeling as stressed about deadlines.

It feels like I have more time for fashion, exploring overland, housing, etc again and doing that more in game has made me way happier than the rewards of the old system. I also feel the new system is going to be better longterm and while they probably should have had less a gap between the two systems, I think it will be worth the wait.

I'm more annoyed that there is absolutely nothing for me to buy on the gold bazaar as I have everything from the years of buying the items with crown gems, in crown crates or with crowns.

Guess I won't buy crowns anymore either. Just wait maybe 5 years+ and I can just buy with all the "new" currency I'll save up.

my understanding is there will be other ways to get trade bars outside of events

the tamriel tomes at minimum have 9000 trade bars available for the free version, and additional 1500 for the paid bonus (10500 in total)

not to mention they could award trade bars for other things like gold pursuits as well

I genuinely still don't see how logging on to collect a Daily Login reward was more motivation to log on and play than actually playing the game. What about 25 Tripots or 50 Poisons or 5k Gold or a gold temper was more rewarding than playing the game? Again I understand people looking forward to certain things and needing to login to get those specific things, but I mean those who say they only logged on every day because of every day's item.

And especially the people who were only logging on to get the items and then logging back off; they aren't even playing the game to use what they're earning. Like I get people just taking a break but wanting to collect stuff they'd use when they started playing again, but as before I mean the people who had stopped playing yet were logging in for the day's item without any intention of starting to play the game again.

As for Endeavors, they still will technically exist as Challenges, though without any Daily ones. ZOS really shouldn't have yoinked the Endeavor system until Tomes were launched, I'll agree with that sentiment. I feel like it would have made the transition easier than the GP did.

Some of the daily endeavor tasks was so annoying, especially killing rare creatures.
And the you can only hold 12 tickets was annoying .
Now I fear the new trade bars might become a second seals of endeavors, you want to keep holding them as it might come up something expensive and very cool.

It was never a bribe, just a reason. Same reason I take a stroll through the neighborhood. It's weird to me that instead of it being a reward for logging in, so many saw it as a punishment for not logging in. But you're right I guess I'll just quit playing completely. Good advice, thanks Aetherial!
