Why is the Gold Coast Bazaar not a real bazaar in the Gold Coast?

I noted the official feedback thread for the bazaar items and opted to make a new one, because I do not have much to say about the items. I think the starter selection is apt and I look forward to seeing what comes later, how quickly stuff is rotated, etc. All in all I think this is a very welcome addition to the game.

However, after all those pictures of a bazaar with people walking about, the name itself, and the addition of the Gold Coast to the basegame as though in anticipation of people now needing to spend time in the Gold Coast... it's just a store tab :(

Now, I recognise that usability is actually much better this way. You have those neat categories and can access it anywhere. But I still can't help feeling disappointed, I was really looking forward to seeing people at a bazaar, the way Belkarth is busy during events and how the Advent of Zanil in Coldharbour was a weekly mini-event in itself (perhaps still is, I no longer go there for Zanil because Zerith disapproves). This would have been a brilliant opportunity to create a new meeting place for players where fun can occur spontaneously, and the Gold Coast region would have got a little novelty injection too.

Probably too late for this feedback, but, please make the Bazaar a real place :D

It's funny. Idk why they thought people wouldn't want an actual physical location. To me this is a huge missed opportunity. It could still be in the crown store menu to tempt people into the crown store. But I think many of us envisioned an actual bazaar when this was announced. Am I wrong in thinking this?

Multiple people gave feedback about it during the update 49 PTS cycle, my comment got a response:

i was hoping there would also be an in-game location for the Gold Coast Bazaar, as its pictures appear to place it at the Gold Coast Trading Company building in Anvil.

would be fun to see that bazaar from the above picture in the future.
Could be similar to Belkarth Festival Grounds in Craglorn and have the Luxury Furnisher, indrik merchant, and impressario.

i do love what the Gold Coast Bazaar is!
Very excited to finally get the Dragon's Treasure Trove. And Trade Bars are way better than Event Tickets.

Hey @LunaFlora the team has seen your post here and wanted you to know that while they can't promise anything, they are interested in updating the Anvil area at some point to include a "real-world" version of the Bazaar there.

Putting the Bazaar in the Crown Store helped make it easy to find for all players who don't necessarily want to explore the world to find a vendor. We hear the feedback on wanting this to be a real world thing though and thank you for the suggestion!

    edited to add:
Rotating Rewards rotate with every new Season so not very quickly as they last 3 full months.
we just got Evergreen rewards, the first Rotating rewards get added on April 2.
"Some Bazaar offerings will rotate in and out with the start and end of each Season, but many consistent evergreen items are offered, too. The goal with this rotation is to ensure there’s always a healthy representation of different types of rewards available at all times."

That's a weird thing to say man. Why would you think they would do that or anyone would advocate that. Gold coast has plenty of stuff you could stick in a lively marketplace. Move the furnishing vendors there, maybe the guild traders. Not to mention the npcs you could put walking around. Maybe have a part where there's a bandari guys set up. They could do a lot to make it cool.

Yeah they could have different vendors for different types of items.

And frankly, even if the bazaar was just one actual vendor whose inventory opens the same exact view that we have in the store tab, for easily finding the items you are looking for, or if it functioned like a guild store, I would not mind terribly, so long as it had the trappings of a bazaar, some npcs, and got players to go shopping there.

I think the Bazaar itself could attract people. As I mentioned in the opening, people used to go to Zanil Theran's spot in the Hollow City just for him, in the middle of the night, because it was fun. If you do not like the idea of an actual vendor for the bazaar, that is fine, but I think a lot of people would enjoy a new reason to visit various places in Tamriel.

I too was really expecting an actual physical bazaar somewhere in the Gold Coast. I felt quite shocked and misled when I found out last night that it was only a menu! From all the information I had seen about it, streams, promo art showing a fun and vibrant bazaar, THE NAME (if not in Gold Coast why call it Gold Coast bazaar, should just be Tamriel bazaar or something nondescript?), I really thought it was somewhere new to go to in the Gold Coast, maybe even with a couple of fun little lore based quests added to integrate it.

Please don’t get me wrong, I’m very pleased with the changes of update 49 and looking forward to the subsequent updates coming along this year, including the night market. But as there will be no new zone or chapter this year, and as there was a lot of talk about improving base game zones and adding things to base game (I know Gold Coast isn’t base base game but having made it free now to all and it being so old now, it feels like it is) I was really shocked that the bazaar wasn’t something physical added, showing off the pets and mounts available, maybe a little performing area with npcs showing the new skill styles, etc etc… There’s a lot of empty space as well on the south east of the Gold Coast. I know myself and a lot of other players didn’t just think there MIGHT be a physical bazaar, we fully thought there was going to be one, so if nothing else in the future please make the information and wording clearer, as I spotted nothing on website posts stating explicitly that it was going to be a menu only addition and that there would be no actual bazaar in the Gold Coast.

I'm not sure if there's a language thing but I'm not understanding some of your message. The part I did get "what next" is kind of a weird slippery slope argument. Anvil is the capital of gold coast. That's where the gold coast bazaar would be ideally. Making a market or putting the bazaar vendor in the already made market square would've been a cool thing. Not really sure what Craglorn or nirn crux has to do with anything.

I'll add my vote to the request for a physical bazaar on the Gold Coast map now that it is part of base game. It would be nice as that's a particularly empty map - not too many locations for the Thieves Guild to operate in locally!

I think most of us asking for this don't want them to just plop down a random npc and call it a day, but rather want to see some additional assets to the world in the Gold Coast area plus one (or a few relevant npcs similar to the impresario) so that it looks like an active marketplace or stall similar to the promo art.

Like the promo art looks really cool and like a nice place to go to and take screenshots or hang out.

I felt the exact same way when they gave us Fargrave, which has a beautiful open-air bazaar... where you can buy absolutely nothing that they are selling. But I can loot the heck out of the multitude of boxes of fruits in the Vale of Revelry. So backwards.

This is why text is a bad way to convey lol. I took your first post for sarcasm. Like why would they just make a area for one merchant. I think they could do a whole little market. Yes it's gold coast because of the gold coast trading company, but having it in Anvil could work. Though I originally thought of Hews bane, when they said bazaar.

I agree, I was expecting a physical location as well as the crown store menu.

The menu is fine for just quickly checking what's available, but I think as well as the immersion aspect there could be practical advantages to having a physical bazaar as an additional option. Most importantly they could place some or all of the objects on sale around the bazaar so you can see how they actually look in the world. That would be especially useful for furniture, but could be good for other things as well.

They already did that with the Impressario - having demonstration versions of whatever she was selling nearby (people wearing the costume or a mount standing there or whatever).

One I'd really like to see is NPCs using skill styles on targets. Previewing skill styles is awkward at best because with a lot of them you only get part of the animation, and that can be hard to see with the camera locked so close to the character. It would be so much better if you could watch someone else use it on an enemy to see the full effect.

I would love to have Gold Coast Bazaar as a real area to travel to, with different traders showing the different facettes of the offers. Would be nice to also have the Impresaria there, and the luxury trader.

I would even be content with the "Gold Coast Bazaar" be the Zenithar Event Market area in Craglorn - there are enough decorative market stands, those could be hosting NPCs with interface to the Bazaar's offers.
Since famous markets can change locations similar to a travelling circus or Bandaari, it would not break immersion to have the Bazaar there.
