Eidetic Memory - Account Wide - Post Quest Locations

I know this isn’t the place for this sort of post but the other section isn’t getting any attention or response from the devs on this situation and it’s long overdue …..

Can we please get an update that just gives lorebooks a post quest location to all books that don’t have one please …. Seriously like we have been begging for years at this point and yall said this would get a lot better and it hasn’t ? There’s books missing that dropped with Gold Road that still haven’t got a place in Tamriel …. snapdragons burnt notes post quest location (as the notes sunken in to her cottage floor STILL)? I could go on and on we have been asking in these forums for a long time now with nothing …

I refuse to believe it’s that difficult to add post quest locations for a note ….

I remember a time reaching out to @ZOS_GinaBruno on Twitter regarding a lorebook post quest location and she was amazing and said she would let the dev team know. it was literally fixed within the next patch so I know these things can be fixed.

Please, please, please. We've been begging for this for years. We have two threads lovingly maintained for a while. We made our own pts eidetic bug report/finder thread to make sure none were bugged in advance so we could warn people on live. Like many others recently, we made a plea for better communication but unlike others we got no reply. I even tried again in the pts survey feedback thread.

Please ZOS, we've been asking for this for years. Gamers who enjoy collecting lore are suffering with one system in game to support that being bugged (Eidetic Memory) and the other being the most grindy and unrewarding part of the game (lead lore entries). A lot of my lore friend circles are so disgruntled and tired of it being like this and many have given up on hoping we will ever see it get better.

I've mentioned it before but I'll say again: while I love my achievements and progging hm/tri dungeons and trials, what really keeps me coming back to the game is the lore and cosmetics and exploration. The systems in game to support those have not felt good in a long time. I'm missing five books and have been for a while. Two aren't even in game, one was only obtainable for people who didn't have the content pass during Writhing Wall, and two were missed but not fixed.

I still to this day hate accountwide achievements but I would have tolerated it better probably if things that reduced player frustration such as Eidetic Memory were added to that. Sadly though, as I mentioned above, in recent years that isn't even enough to make Eidetic Memory completable....

I hate feeling like I'm spamming having to repeat myself on this but it's a matter that's very important to me and was one of my favorite original systems in the game and I'd love to see it back in an awesome state that rewards lore fans and those who like to explore/collect things in world.

i'm missing something like 14, and this is off the top of my head, so bear in mind that i might be off a bit:
- 2 are related to Zerithar's companion quest, inaccessible after finishing quest
- 2 are related to a prologue quest where you venture into some temple in southeastern Vvardenfell, which is inaccessible after completing the quest
- 1 is in a delve in Apocryphal, the delve that's northeast (it's a really cool delve, lots of crazy levels, can't remember the name), locked behind a quest
- 3-4 from Worm Cult pt 1, which i believe are all locked behind quests
- 1-2 from Worm Cult pt 2, one of which is from a bookshelf (so, presumably i just need to keep trying) and 1 locked behind a quest in some location in the north-ish region
- 1 is from IC bookshelves (again, need to keep trying)
- 1-2 from West Weald, which don't appear anywhere (which the OP mentioned)

i have noticed that over the past year, a handful of books get copied and placed in accessible areas. there was a book in Summerset, around the university area up north, which got copied and is now accessible. so, yeah, just do a few more pls!

I'd done enough questing by the time I realized that Eidetic memory was a thing, that I know I missed a ton of books. So I've never even started trying to get all the Eidetic books. Until I know they're all accessible even if the quest is finished, OR it's made account wide, I'll never participate.

I'd like to, though. I'm a completionist, and that's the type of thing I'd love to do.

IMO, none of the Eidetic Memory books should be in quest only locations or even in the quest location to begin with. When you are on a quest, your main focus is the quest, not making sure you read the books in those locations. Plus, some like myself did not know about the Eidetic Memory thing until it was way too late so now the goal is punish us? Why? I learned about this like 4 to 6 months ago even though I have been playing the game since 2014. I had other goals I was trying to accomplish.

Personally, I think all of these books need to be moved out of the quest locations and put in areas that are accessible to everyone all the time. There are over 5000 books to read so why make it even harder on the customer because I can tell you that it does not make me want to pay or play more or even start another account but it does make me want to throw my hands up in the air and say I quit because this is an achievement I can never complete on my main toon and I am not restarting my main toon. While I may not spend a ton of money on this game, can they really afford to lose players who do?

The only other option like so many have said is to make this account-wide.

How can they be moved from quest locations if most of that books are connected with quest?
Of course, they all should be placed somewhere after quest is done, but not before.

They could also just leave the books where they are and not shut off access to quest locations. I would prefer this.

I stopped collecting books when I realized too many were buggy/unavailable, so I'd never be able to get them all. I'd love for them to make sure all books are obtainable to give me a reason to collect them again.

Account wide would solve most of my missing books. I have done all the known workarounds and still have missing books that were quest related and not available post quest.

Wasn't a large part of making so many achievements account wide to relieve some data related stress on the game's database? My 20 characters all have a smattering of known books that must be clogging up the database as much as their individual achievements must have been before account wide achievements happened.

I would finally have a reason to play my other 19 characters since they could go and repeat quests and acquire those missing books, then the only fixing left would be the books that are bugged, not in game currently or restricted due to having the content pass during limited time event.

Honestly, as much as I prefer character-based things, Eidetic memory should absolutely be made account-wide.

I'm still a bit salty about the amount of individuality that my characters lost, but now we're clogging up the database with every random scrap of notes some rando is writing to their mom? I'd have rather had the individual map completion per character than that.

we know your pain. my main has all but about 20 eidetic that are unobtainable at this point and unfortunately only my crafter almost all the motifs.

The stream talked about quality of life changes and not always replying in the forums about things players really want but there have been several of us asking for this for a very long time and we've had neither yet. Please, can we get this as an upcoming QOL update announced on stream or a promise here that there will be fixes? I'm really excited for all the new exploration and lore things this year but I also hope the older systems (lorebooks and leads) get the fixes and love they deserve too.
