"Send Money" instead of COD... I did it again.

Its TOO easy to do this. One tiny click with no "are you sure" message is all that separates you from your cash - making a ridiculous mistake and depending on the buyer of your item to be honest and return your cash.

especially after hard negotiation this is particularly embarrassing.

COD should be a very different method than a tiny button to click. I am sure loads of people have done this or nearly done this - please make it more avoidable.

I did this and lost 9000 gold for two days when the player receiving it logged back on and refunded me.
I was so depressed wasting all that time selling ornate drops etc i almost quit and went back to watching tv, LOL

But i also noticed that after you c.o.d. Something properly, the next email you send will have the c.o.d amount still filled in, you manually have to remove the gold.

    Which is clearly a bug.

I have stopped using c.o.d, if people want something they can travel to me, if not, fine with me, i'll just post it in a guild store.

Every major patch looks like the end of the world but somehow i just cannot stop playing.

This is a serious issue as well: If you COD something for, say 10000 gold, then the next mail you send will have that amount filled out in the "send money".

Don't see a major issue with this, so no objections ...... however ... on the whole, most users don't really read 'are you sure' type dialogues anyway. If they are in a rush and quickly click in the initial windows chances are they will just as quickly click Yes in the confirmation dialogue .. end result is the same.

Its really not that difficult to click on the right boxes

They didn't give you the money back? Someone did this to me, sent me the item and 2000 gold, I was confused when I took it because I didn't really notice what happened when I took the contents, just that it didn't ask me about sending money back. When the guy pointed it out, I sent him back 4k. I have yet to be scammed in this game even with putting myself into the positions to get scammed like giving runes to a stranger to make me glyphs. The community is pretty good about not scamming to my knowledge.

I have done this several times. One thing I can say is I am glad the ESO community is honest enough to return the gold.

as much as i sympathize with accidentally sending out that kind of money, god knows i've done silly crap like that myself, but honestly it's your own fault, pay attention to what you are doing, and accept that occasionally you might make a mistake.

This has almost got me once or twice. It shouldn't reset to "send gold" automatically. It should make you pick one or the other instead of having an automatic setting.

There should also be a line in your text telling you that you send a COD. Everytime I send a COD there is a small part of me that hopes i did it right with no way to know until the mail comes back.

Yes, he is aware it is his fault. He said as much in his OP.

    That is not the point.

If would nice to have safety features in the game, like almost every other MMO does.

I personally would love to be able to lock items in my inventory so I can't sell them or break them down. I know it is my fault if i do, but it sure would be nice to have that feature to help.

The problem is not in clicking the right boxes, the problem is the default is to send gold for the same amount as your most recent cod, without ever clicking on ANY boxes. Those of us who sell things often, this is a huge issue. I sell food and drink, so sometimes just a couple hundred gold, sometimes more if people are stocking up.

Let's say I Cod something for 3k. Then I quest and stuff for 3 hours without selling. At the end of my play session, I send gathered mats to my guild crafter. It will automatically send that person 3k, and I don't need to select anything!

I mean if the next mail you send is another cod it is hard to mess up, but if it is a regular mail, even just a request to a friend to craft you something the next time they log on, the default is to include the last amount you cod'ed.

I wonder how often I have done this with small amounts without even realizing it.

I'm a bit astonished you all could get so mean to each other so fast O.o

I wrote the post to draw attention to a small problem I have personally - cos I'm a bit thick sometimes and can get careless in what I'm doing. I sent 90 stamina pots to a guy while I was PvPing in Cyrodil - and of course I rushed it - I was on my horse in a hot PvP zone. Did I check the little button? Of course not.

You can call it stupid- but I just think it would be nice to have a system that helped me out a little to avoid doing stuff like that.

I also like safety rails on boats and flourescent dongles on my jacket late at night. Call me safety conscious.

Also: Chill! Be nice to each other - its only a frikkin game :P

The only opinion you have is people need to be more careful, which I have agreed with you on.

What you seem to avoid, is what would be wrong with the simple tools the OP is asking for.

I haven't done it, I stop and look carefully... however it should be moved. COD should be the default if anything, not send money. Someone sent me purple mats plus a few thousand gold the other day... luckily I'm honest and a nice person so I let them know and then sent them their money back PLUS the monies I was intending to pay for the purple materials.

Yeah. Not one person has said it should not be in the game. There is no reason simple tools like this should ever be left out of an MMO.
