Player Poll: Daily Reward Changes [Discussion]

Hey all, so I am currently running a poll on Reddit to see where people are at on average with these changes, because ofc upset voices usually speak the loudest and after the dailies were removed, all I was seeing was negative feedback, people claiming they were quitting, saying this has killed the game etc.

https://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/comments/1rkh7uh/in_favor_of_or_against_dailyrewardendeavor_change/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

And it was the literal opposite from what I have heard for years about 24hr and 7 day deadline rewards. I had always heard how much people hated the,, how it stressed them out, created unhealthy relationships with the game, fueled resentment and felt "forcing" to play, calling it an "evil FOMO mechanic" etc.

All the backlash the last couple days really threw me off. So I decided to launch a poll. And so far it has helped verify I am not crazy and that this was widely desired.
But on most social discussions people were claiming the cliche arguments: "No one wanted this or asked for it.", "Here goes ZoS again trying to fix something that wasn't broken.", "they just wanted to take away our free rewards!!." And so much more doom/gloom rage and dishonesty.

I wanted to post here too, to spread the net as wide as possible and get as much input as we can. Explain why you do or do not agree with the changes, keeping things respectful of course. Provide possible additional changes to help mitigate any negatives, discuss concerns and more.

One solution I had come up with, for the players who really enjoyed daily tasks telling them what to do, due to decision paralysis and needing or wanting more daily structure.
Is that ZoS could implement a different Daily Adventurer guide/task list which does not reward insane things. Like, moderate gold, EXP rewards, Maybe a doubling of a daily zone cache and other basic things. That way it mitigates the massive FOMO resentment that rewards such as Endeavor Seals, collectable homes, pets, mounts, crates and more caused.

All the benefit of the mechanics people miss, but without the psychological harm and scummy business practice to inflate daily player counts.

As you noted, people who have something to complain about are typically the ones most likely to post.

That said if you want to know what the majority on here thought, you'd need the poll here rather than on Reddit.

i like that Daily Endeavours and Daily Login Rewards are going away.

Tamriel Tomes seems like a good addition. And Golden Pursuits have been good.

Definitely agree with you, I personally thought the daily rewards were mostly fluff and never went out of my way to do the endeavors. I've enjoyed the pursuits though and hope they keep the nice different rewards in them.

Am also interested to see what happens with the tomes - let's see if it's enough to get me to sub again 😁

Yeah, I wanted to try and not split the two. And Reddit tends to get more interaction so it provides more data.

But maybe I will run a second poll here later.

The only thing I think ZOS did wrong was to remove endeavors and daily login rewards for the month of March when the first tome isnt available until April. Honestly, I think they could have delayed the release of update 49 by a week or two and been fine.

My partner and myself are subbed to eso and we love the golden pursuits and endeavors. We enjoy having a variety of tasks to do.

I do not have a Reddit account so was unable to vote in your poll. Also, I am not going to create a Reddit account just to vote in your poll. If I could have voted in your poll my vote would be "I don't care." I hope that helps you out with your poll.

    Poll.

I welcome the changes, as long as the rewards remain the same but the game doesn't force me to be online every day so I don't miss out on rewards, and I can do the tasks whenever I want, so I'm all for it.
I don't go on Reddit, so I can't vote there.

It’s less stuff to login and grind for daily in a game where I have plenty of things that I already need to grind for. That and I have over 60K endeavour tokens that I haven’t even bothered to use.

Daily logins had some rewards I was using to fill out things like alliance lines on characters that I didn’t want to grind battlegrounds on, but that’s just completion stuff so no big deal to me.

Overall is it more or is it less? Hard to say until we see what comes with the free track of Tamriel tomes. One thing is for sure though I don’t really miss things the crown poisons or the research scrolls cluttering up inventory.

The Daily logins were getting really stale and as a 10 year player i didnt really need potion or poisons although the repair kits were good but the lack of adornments costumes and outfit and weapon styles should have been more regular along with crown crates and furnishings

Valid hahaha. Yeah I am taking the other commenters advice and making one here on the official forums too. It won't hurt me to have two sets of data.

    Thanks for the input! <3

    Agreed 1,000%.

I wish they didn't have that oversight, but I am glad it's a minor one all things considered.

Okay! I made one on this site for anyone following.

Thank you in advance, and apologies for not just making this one. 😅

Since the end of endeavors, I've been thinking about my preferred daily activities. There's really no lack of things to do, it's just that the endeavor list was a conveniently focused list of things to do for meaningful reward, even if small. Feeling like we're amassing endeavor seals is good, having a small variety of daily activities is also good; it often provided a springboard which inspired my activities for the day.

The Golden Pursuits format isn't really conducive to organising my daily activities. It's a jumbled list of activities - not even numbered - that we have to sort through somehow. I don't know what Tamriel Tomes is like, but if it's anything like GP, the next few years is going to be a hard slog.

So I'd be supportive of a daily or weekly format somehow, but I don't really need mundane rewards. Seals are good because it's currency - there's no RNG to worry about where you're trying to get a purple furnishing plan but it's 98% of the time just a piece of trash gear, and 1.999% of the time something vaguely useful.

Thinking about it, they should have just extended the endeavor system to give more robust rewards, but weekly, instead of the dual daily/weekly thing. That would have been a good balance between FOMO and flexibility.

But anyway, we'll have to see how Tomes turns out as a system.

If a poll is for the benefit of you and me, then I think generally speaking we both have our minds made up; and will just look for a poll that confirms our bias.
If otoh the poll is for ZOS's benefit, doesn't ZOS already have the best possible vehicle for that sort of data - actual ingame metrics?
I guess what am saying is ZOS will move to plan B only if the drop in daily engagement, which I suspect they know will happen, is much more than they anticipated. And I don't think they will turn to external metrics(polls) for that kind of data.

100% I don't expect these polls to have any impact in Dev game design. If they did I would be very shocked.

They are more so out of my own curiosity and seeking out some amount of evidence to what the "truth" is. Because the comments I was seeing in mass, did not align with the reality I have experienced for years in ESO communities.

I had so many people essentially trying to gaslight me, or call me a liar for saying there has been tons of consistent complaints about the daily systems. And saying ZoS "did it again, screwed something up that no one asked them to". And simply wanted something I could look at or reference beyond anecdote.

I wouldn't say am backtracking here but ZOS would definitely look at how we poll on the forums and else where (wrt daily/endeavour rewards), though they probably won't base their decisions solely on the results.
Also on having a poll to use as reference, as a poster here already suggested, it might not hurt to start one on the forums, seeing as not everyone here will participate on the reddit poll.
Though perhaps the reason you haven't started one is because you're happy to use those already up as reference, which imo would be understandable.

    Edit to comment #20.
I see OP already has a poll here on the forums, so my previous suggestion doesn't really apply.
