Now everyone can see that they’re NO better! Even worse in many ways.
I seriously doubt you’ll see any big jump in participation unless there are other incentives.
Bringing back the old style won’t make battlegrounds fun again. Too many other variables have changed as well.
Just like everything now in this game.Thumbless_Bot wrote: »SummersetCitizen wrote: »I am glad they’re bringing them back.

I am not agreeing nor am i disagreeing with your comments. I am only asking, who cares? McDonald's brings back the McRib for the people that enjoy it. Only, in this case, there is much less supply chain overhead. The people who enjoy them can enjoy them... the people that enjoy 3 team bgs can as well... for a limited time and at participating restaurants.

Even if they did bring back 3-sided Battlegrounds as a permanent option, I fear participation we'll only be slightly increased. We really do need to separate the DM queue from the objective modes.
In the history of ESO, there was never an objectives queue. Or a rewarding DM queue.

This last Deathmatch weekend showed that the old style was far superior to the new 8v8. Unless you like spawn camping, then the new style is amazing....
The main problem with 8v8 is you need all 8 on a team engaged. If you have 2-3 players on one side that are not good at PVP or just don't care fighting against a team of 8 that is engaged, the former team is going to lose and lose big. Once the game becomes out of hand, which is usually when the score gets in the range of 60 to 120, its over. The losing team then just hangs on, or just goes full "kill me and get this over with" mode.
At least with the 4v4v4 is that 2nd place meant something so there was still something to fight for. Plus, it was very rare that 2 of the teams ganged up on the 3rd. With 8v8, when it turns into 8v5, that would be the same as those former 2 teams ganging up on the underpowered 3rd team.
One thing I will agree on you with is that BGs are beyond broken.
We just had a DM weekend and it was disappointing.
Of the eight 8v8 matches I played in, 6 ended up being spawn camping. This is the same problem I and many others anticipated back when 2-team BGs were announced.
IMO 6v6v6 would be epic and reduce the impact of having 1 lemon on your team. Plus the fights would feel more epic due to having bigger fights.
But I'd rather have 4v4v4 than the 8v8 we see currently. Don't get me wrong, 8v8 can be fun at times. But that's because BGs are fun, especiallly with more people.
Preference:
6v6v6 > 4v4v4 > 8v8

Problem is that you're talking to the guys who enjoy being the 8 in the 8v4.thesarahandcompany wrote: »Oh how soon you all forget history. . .or that you were never taught it. What is 3 team BG REALLY going to fix or do? Lmao.

Do we miss farming the 1 team team with the most players in PVE gear doing their daily? Or ignoring the one that got the one healer? Or do we miss spamming endless fury and KSing kills in old school deathmatch? Or third partying two teams fighting by dropping a fat dark convergence and necro ult on them? Activating our own harmony? What about the old one shot Vate/Deadlands stamina sorc builds? Ooooh, let's revert proc sets too. We need old oblivions foe and BRP inferno scaling back. And make Maw of the Infernal targetable again, I want to clutter up the battlefield with 100 pets like I did in the old days.
This is what I mean by this is such an unserious idea. "Just add back 3 team BGs." Surely that's what BGs need. Something we've already done that didn't work. That's the token.

Until ZOS fixes that aspect it doesn´t matter what format they choose, the experience will continue to be suboptimal for everyone. The only reason people say 4v4v4 format "was better", was because the overall PvP population was much larger a few years back compared to now. You take the "old PvP crowd" and put them into the current two team format and I can guarantee you that fewer people would complain about the current state of things.
Edit:
Battlegrounds should cater to people who actually want to PvP. If all you care about is to get a daily exp boost from the daily battleground "quest", I´m sorry to say but your opinion on battlegrounds shouldn´t be taken as serious.
