Thank you. Seriously, just thank you to whoever suggested and / or decided to bring these back, even if it's just for an event. It means a lot to many bg die hards including me.

Hear, Hear! Couldn't agree more, thank you!

So. When do we think the first three team weekend will be? Work makes the schedule a month out so I'm trying to figure out what weekend to request off in advance. As great as the monthly roadmaps are, getting it at the start of each month doesn't leave any wiggle room for taking a weekend off.

There's a two team DM wknd this month Feb. 25th-March 4th.

Update 49 is March 9th. Doubt if there will be two back to back BG weekends, so immediately after the update is probably out.

    Season Zero begins April 2nd.

Historically there have been BG weekend events:
    April 20-25 2023
April 26-28 2024 (don't know why it says 3 days, blame the internet)
    April 24-29 2025

On average, these events took place 42 days after the last BG weekend events in March of their respective years (give or take a few days either way each year)

So my best guess as to when the first three team BG event might be is the weekend of April 17th 2026, 44 days after the upcoming two team event at the end of this month. This assumes, of course, that ZOS intends to reintroduce three team sooner rather then later, that the pattern of events holds true, and, that the reintroduction coincides with the beginning of Seasons and after the next update.

What do you all think? Should we be requesting the weekend of 4/17/26 off or do you think it will be a different date?

Hey @ZOS_Kevin could we, just this once, if possible, maybe please get a one time sneak peak heads up as to the date of the return of three team battlegrounds? That would be so awesome!

    Cheers!

I am glad they’re bringing them back.

Now everyone can see that they’re NO better! Even worse in many ways.

I seriously doubt you’ll see any big jump in participation unless there are other incentives.

Bringing back the old style won’t make battlegrounds fun again. Too many other variables have changed as well.

I am not agreeing nor am i disagreeing with your comments. I am only asking, who cares? McDonald's brings back the McRib for the people that enjoy it. Only, in this case, there is much less supply chain overhead. The people who enjoy them can enjoy them... the people that enjoy 3 team bgs can as well... for a limited time and at participating restaurants.

Just like everything now in this game.

There’s very little reason to play for new content, only recycling old content.

The player base and game design are now completely different than when battlegrounds were peak fun.

Agree that things have changed, and, imho, for tje worse.

Meta gets more broken every time they release a new zone.

Sorc was literally broken for what, two years?

We still have roa, charm and dark Convergence in pvp.

It doesnt mean the game isnt moving forward.... just not always in the direction we want it to... like 2 team bgs...

I still think DC and roa have completely ruined Cyrodiil... but here we are....l

Even if they did bring back 3-sided Battlegrounds as a permanent option, I fear participation we'll only be slightly increased. We really do need to separate the DM queue from the objective modes.

In the history of ESO, there was never an objectives queue. Or a rewarding DM queue.
Can you help solve any of the FOUR critical flaws of two-sided BGs ?

Looking for feedback on How to fix the 3-sided objective modes

I agree, but the troll in me wants to call out that there is only one objective in every format... deathmatch baby...

Also, never going back to that thread.

I'll reinstall for the 3-team event. If they bring it back permanently I'll likely reinstate my subscription.

I actually stay for the furniture and housing now. Tuesday when IA has new plans and Friday when the furnishing vendor has new items are peak for me now... well, that and the events with 3 team bgs...

I am really excited that they are expanding the furnishing cap on my haven of the five... good times...

Bringing back the old style won’t make battlegrounds fun again. Too many other variables have changed as well.

This last Deathmatch weekend showed that the old style was far superior to the new 8v8. Unless you like spawn camping, then the new style is amazing....

The main problem with 8v8 is you need all 8 on a team engaged. If you have 2-3 players on one side that are not good at PVP or just don't care fighting against a team of 8 that is engaged, the former team is going to lose and lose big. Once the game becomes out of hand, which is usually when the score gets in the range of 60 to 120, its over. The losing team then just hangs on, or just goes full "kill me and get this over with" mode.

At least with the 4v4v4 is that 2nd place meant something so there was still something to fight for. Plus, it was very rare that 2 of the teams ganged up on the 3rd. With 8v8, when it turns into 8v5, that would be the same as those former 2 teams ganging up on the underpowered 3rd team.

One thing I will agree on you with is that BGs are beyond broken.

It has been an eye opening weekend for sure. I think I got one good match all weekend.

I play both 8v8 and 4v4 and both are in a really bad place right now. I was in a 4v4 with three pve players against four of my guildies, indicating mmr is either terribly broken or doesnt acty exist.

The only other things these bgs show us is that ranged damage is broken, people still don't know what block is, and that many, many players still queue in with 16k health amd without a heal slotted in either bar

There are people that enjoy this but I am not one of them. I would play a lot more if they weren't so bad.

I have thought this for a while. They want people standing 30 feet from each other shouting at each other over an impassable pool of slaughterfish.

I am still happy they are bringing 3 teams back though i cant imagine they will be as we remember...

We just had a DM weekend and it was disappointing.

Of the eight 8v8 matches I played in, 6 ended up being spawn camping. This is the same problem I and many others anticipated back when 2-team BGs were announced.

IMO 6v6v6 would be epic and reduce the impact of having 1 lemon on your team. Plus the fights would feel more epic due to having bigger fights.

But I'd rather have 4v4v4 than the 8v8 we see currently. Don't get me wrong, 8v8 can be fun at times. But that's because BGs are fun, especiallly with more people.

    Preference:
    6v6v6 > 4v4v4 > 8v8

Personally I'd rather get rid of the 4v4 mode rather than the 8v8 mode. They both have their issues, but at least during non-DM weekends, the 8v8s tend to have better matches more often than 4v4s.

4v4s are either a steamroll or devolve into 8 players staring at each other for 15 minutes because there's not enough damage with 3 DPS to cut through the healer on either team. I don't think I've ever had an enjoyable 4v4 match, while I've at least had some fun 8s matches.

This is of course assuming random queues, but group queueing basically never pops these days because there arent enough coordinated groups still playing BGs.

I dont think they should get rid.pf any bgs. It didnt feel good when they took 3 teams from those of us that prefer them and I dont want zos removing content people enjoy.

This is definitely the best option as I wouldn't want them to remove any, but I would worry a lot about queue times keeping all 3 formats. You'd probably need to reduce 4v4 to group only queue or combine some other queue to make things work.
