So while it is great to have folks log in every day, one of the main complaints we have heard about daily login rewards is that is feels bad to miss a day because life happens and have no way to get all the rewards. With the free Tamriel Tome, the goal is to make sure you still have ways to get useful and helpful items like with Daily Login Rewards, without the worry of missing set days.
Unless I’m mistaken, the “free” tome will still be time limited. The only way to ensure it is not is to pay $15 or $30.
The best rewards for daily logins were not at the end of the month. They were often on the 14th or the 21st after two or three weeks of logging in. The logins didn’t even need to be in sequential order. This provided flexibility to miss a week or two while still obtaining a prized reward. No additional money was required.
So what incentive will players have to login daily?

After months of devaluing daily logins, many players have likely been conditioned to see them as pointless. For years, though, they were something I genuinely looked forward to… especially the daily and weekly endeavors.
Now it feels as though we are being asked to jump through more hoops to earn the same rewards.
So what incentive will players have to login daily?
There isn't one.
The news stuff coming seems to be focused on guilds and players who group. (Night Market)
The challenges for solo players are low-paying, with very few paying at the level of group players.
The whole thing is disappointing.
Overland difficulty modes, new quest systems, and solo dungeons.

Perhaps you did not mean to address my post with this response:
Difficulty for overland is not a solo issue
What new quest system?
No solo dungeons offered at this time
I maintain, there is no incentive for me, or players that choose to run solo, to log in daily.
So what incentive will players have to login daily?
Yep, and ZOS is doing it right. So what incentive will players have to login daily?
They are refocusing game on weekly incentives instead. So no daily incentives.
This forum has players posting constantly that life is happening and it feels bad for missing out daily logins or its incentives. So this is a company listening to its player base result.

My intention was not to be misleading here. The point I was trying to make is that one of the core issues we heard about daily login rewards for years was around missing days and feeling obligated to log in daily. We are trying to curb that behavior and feeling with removing the daily login rewards and giving a more flexible system regarding needing to log in daily. There are even folks in this thread who note this as a frustration point.
We were not trying to imply that the free tome is not time limited. It is. There will be a refresh every season. But the goal is also to provide helpful rewards (just like on the daily login rewards) on the free track. The paid tome grants additional currencies and cosmetics.
“Free” re-rolls are limited. This is a new way to extract money. Now I'll be able to earn seals (or trade bars or whatever) at my own convenience, plus reroll tasks I don't like. Which is great!
I would be more concerned about our income potential now. One of the biggest problems with the old Seals system was the really high opportunity costs of getting anything. Getting some small item might cost me getting an apex reward because of the time limitations.
So for this new system, has that problem been addressed or will we still be nudged to getting crates? If you take a season, is the Seals income potential comparable to what I would get over the same timeframe now?
We are getting more Seals, and Kevin posted prices from Crown crates will stay the same.

Tomes are the same endeavor chores that you now get… with the luxury of paying to upgrade!Basically, your typical ESO redditor is a no lifer who can't live without free things handed, and doesn't know how to play massive RP game without daily chores.

Previously you get the best reward at day 21 you just needed to log in for 75% of the month. To get all of the rewards, you only needed to log in daily. Now to get the full rewards you have to pay for a premium tome. This is a new way to extract money.
And current daily and weekly tasks for endeavors don't expire at all! I can do todays daily tasks tomorrow, right?SummersetCitizen wrote: »The “FOMO” they are fixing is reducing your anxiety by extracting more money out of your wallets. ESO has been unsuccessful attracting new players. So, they have to be very creative in how they find new ways of extracting revenue from existing players… while simultaneously reducing the quality/quantity of content. It is FREE now! 😆

we are supposed to get eight thousand Seals in the Tome for free.
i assume this is for every Tome.

Free Rewards
Free collectibles in this Tome include the Kireth’s Dungeon Delve armor set, a new skill style for Vigor, and the Mesa Stalker weapons styles. In addition, you can unlock up to 8,000 Seals, a whopping 9,000 Trade Bars, and six returning Crown Crates from this Tome’s free offerings.

I would be careful about assuming those figures will be the same for every Tome, if that’s what you mean. Value offered by loyalty programs tends to decline over time, sometimes quite rapidly.
The wording I’ve seen from ZOS has been limited to saying it’s this first Tome that offers 8k seals. There have been no promises beyond that, as far as I’m aware. This is an important transition point as we stop getting endeavors. Ensuring the introduction of the new system goes smoothly and gets people on board by offering high value is important.
I remember when daily login rewards used to give crown crates, just like crates will be offered on the free track here at the debut of this new system. That value certainly wasn’t kept up over time with daily logins. Aside from 100k gold the other month, I don’t recall seeing anything worth mentioning in terms of daily login rewards since last June/July. (The 8k Seals was not a planned login reward but a one-time compensation delivered via the reward system so that people got the compensation if and only if they logged in.) I feel like players have been pointing out lower value in the rewards for a much longer time than that.
Effective loyalty programs are important to a very large percentage of consumers in general. But after the introduction of a system with great rewards to get people on board, lowering the value of those rewards and the schemes themselves over time is a common tactic. I think I’ve seen articles on 5 or 6 companies changing their reward schemes to lower the value for consumers since the beginning of the year alone (Starbucks, Subway, United, Bank of America off the top of my head). Most of these changes simply lower value outright. When any of the specific changes offer increased value, it’s as an incentive for those who pay more. So I think we’ll definitely have to see what the quantity and quality of rewards on the free track look like beyond the first season and whether the value is maintained there or shifts to the paid tracks or simply disappears.
