Replay story lines . Why isn't this in the game yet?

I would just like to know why it is possible to replay storylines. It would have been easy to write this in and explain why it is possible.

We know that there are psijics who possess secret knowledge and secrets. A new artifact could be added for them—an ancient scroll—and a small storyline could be developed around it, after which it would become clear that thanks to this scroll and a couple of magical spells from the Order of Psijics, it was possible to see the past and relive that life again. Or connect it with the lines of fate of Itelia and with different universes (not directly with Itelia so as not to intersect with the main plot). In general, a lore artifact through which you could replay the story quests of different DLC zones. Of course, there is the argument “create another character and replay it” - but this is a bad argument and not a good one. There is a character on which all the storylines have been completed, and I don't really want to create another character for this.
Wouldn't it be a useful feature to be able to replay that storyline again on your main character, either alone or with someone in a group?

P.S - I'm talking about the main storylines in a given location, the first and main storyline with Molag Bal and others. Not side quests.

Today I've seen a player saying he will go on a journey from Daggerfall to Lilmoth completing the quests he finds along the road - this sounds awesome to me! I'd like to do the same on different itineraries, for example Daggerfall - Windhelm.

So... Once I've done a journey on a character, to repeat it I'll have to create a new character and go through 50 levels, if I want to play it on a good build, possibly on Vestige difficulty. Seems like an hassle many would like to avoid.

I am all in for making every quest repeatable at any time.

Its not a bad idea, provided we could perhaps have a unique icon for repeatable quests and toggle the markers off or on in case we are specifically trying to do quests we haven't done yet

With the new Overland difficulty coming, how amazing will that be? If they pull this off, it might be the best thing I’ve ever seen in ESO since Oakensoul.

When this topic comes up I always suggest something along the lines of a shrine that could be used like a toggle or a respec system for quests. I think it'd be a fitting way to implement it and also be unobtrusive for those who don't care about it.

Also, yes please. This is probably in my top five wishlist of features in the game, if not the top three.

players would abuse this type of freedom to auto level doing 1 quest that takes 0 movement an million times no thanks , maybe an 24hr cooldown but them in the middle of long quest would reset daily too so theres no mid ground so why have the issues behind having it when for 11 years players have done quest , if they like it they re-roll new and do it again ... i liked fighting bal in the old VR days so much i did it on 4 toon lol 😂

From my point of view, this is how it could work: There'd be a short quest for a new Psijic artifact or scroll, as OP suggested, perhaps from the crown store (I can already hear the gasps of displeasure), or the player could complete a quest after which the artifact can be purchased for gold through an NPC or altar. I don't see it being given away for free, so there shouldn't be concerns of spamming quest completion. And I personally would be fine with replaying quests without XP or rewards, though if one is buying the artifact for crowns or for a lot of gold, players would probably expect something.

having an limited use item ( none crown store ) that has an long cooldown that you have to do an quest maybe even play into the game make you turn yourself into coldhabor and they take your worldly knowledge resetting all quest

I suggested cadwells campfire stories where you meet cadwell and he tells a story of your exploits then you play it with narration from cadwell where he comments things like he's not as tall as I remember, or I don't recall you mentioning your dying so much

I would love this for dungeon quests! I always do them in groups for the experience and skill point, so I've never had a change to experience many of them.

I imagine it may be complicated given that the system wasn't designed with it in mind, but it could be appropriate for a story-based world.

I think this idea is better suited to the offline single player TES games.

How is"Morrowind Remastered" coming along? When will it be available for purchase?

Replaying quests isn't inherently a multi-player or single-player thing, it's a personal preference, one that you are not forced to engage in if you choose not to. In fact, you will never even see any related quest markers, if you do not activate the artifact.

I think it's an excellent way to increase ways for players to engage long-term with the game.

Everytime this comes up a lot of assumptions are made about those of us who want it. There are plenty of uses for a lot of people and in an mmo, not every aspect of it or system has to be aimed at you. There are multiple types of gamers with different goals and motivations and wants and needs from a game and the magical thing about eso is it's good at drawing a wide crowd. Also re: experience/gold/rewards, similar to overland difficulty, most of us asking for replayable quests feel that is it's own reward. I'm at cp cap and my main has ever skill/morph in game maxed and I have more than enough gold/mats/etc but I still want to revisit old quests on her that I played years ago.

Some useful things about replayable quests to name a few:
    • replaying a questline or zone you've already done with a friend who hasn't
    • redoing a quest you've done years ago but don't remember, especially on quests that you are pressured to do so a character has a skill line (psijic, mages guild, fighter's guild, dungeon skill points, etc)
    • seeing gorgeous quest locked instances and areas on a character who has done them before but you couldn't record/get proper screenshots on (again, my pc was a potato in the early years of this game and I would love high res versions of my main in the Orrerry of Elden Root or other places)
    • something low committal to do while idling in a queue that you can easily pick up and put down compared to other options
    • making wiki chronicling easier (so many wiki pages related to eso are still vacant)

Unlike solo player games we have limited character slots and do not have access to savestates. WoW/Diablo 4 at least has party synch where you can play old quests with friends based on their worldstate so there is a limited function version. FFXIV has New Game+ which functions like how many of us asked as a toggleable mode for players. If this is already a thing in other competing games even if it's in a limited form, I think it's more than fair to ask for it here, especially since ESO/TES is a more lore/story driven mmo than others and it's one of the main draws for a chunk of the playerbase.

I think this is one of those features that the devs would love to implement if they could, but then have to decide that they should focus their time and effort on something more important instead.

I do think adding a journal of sorts that details what your character did in which quest from which you can then decide to replay a quest could be a fun addition. But it also simply provides us with nothing new.
Think about how disappointed we were when Blackwood only came with companions and High Isle had a feature that is pretty controversial, with card game enthusiasts having better card games to play and a large chunk of the playerbase simply having no interest in one, which left us asking "who was this made for". There are players that ToT was made for, of course. But their numbers arguably aren't large enough to justify the effort and expense it took to realize that feature.
I fear this is one of those cases. It'll just take too much money and effort for something that ultimately provides no new content to the people wanting new content.
It's one of those hindsight features that the game should have launched with, but didn't.

    no not always.

And it has in the past taken multiple updates for some books to be placed outside of quest instances.

I would like this as well. I would also like to have a toggle view ability for the map. On the map, for pc at least, the zone info shows how much of a zone you have completed including delves, world bosses, etc. I would really like to be able to toggle view that for alts to show what that particular character has done in a zone for replay value.
