Did they change how the speed cap works?

Made a pretty good stealth/gatherer build and I'm curious on if they changed the speed cap because I could've sworn it was 200% for both sneak speed and sprint speed. Even all the guides that help with speed say the cap is still 200%

Yet when I look in menu, my sprint speed percentage never goes above 165% and my sneak speed does not exceed 100%

I've searched the forums, I can't even find patch notes of them changing this. I can find other discussions, but no solid answer?

I have celerity, steeds blessing, steed mundus, concealed weapon minor expedition, and swift on three gold jewelry (edit: and also ring of the wild hunt and vampire stage 1 with all passives so my sneak penalty is removed). So there is zero reason why I should still be stuck at such low percentages.

Unless, the cap is bugged? Am I actually closer to 200% than I think but the numbers are just wrong?

Seriously, super confused about this. Would be nice to also get a dev response if possible.

Is it possible that there's an implied offset? I know the stats menu lists the Critical Damage percentage as the implied base 50% plus whatever amount that is displayed.

In other words, does the menu only display the added bonus, rather than the actual total?

Maybe? If I hop on another character I have as a default character with no speed buffs at sprint speed 143%. And 66% sneak speed.

The numbers aren't even functioning correctly when taking buffs on and off. I've removed steeds blessing CP on and off and the percentage doesn't even move.

That’s correct — the advanced stats menu has never properly displayed many speed bonuses.

Better off measuring the actual speed with something like Fyrakin’s minimap.

This is a pretty awful realization for me 😐

I've always found this part of the in-game character sheet odd and very confusing to look at. Is my crit only 75% or it's at cap but it just doesn't show the baseline 50%?

There's a lot of UI's in the game that really do need tidying up (not things like font, but the info they display, etc). Tooltips are a big one, especially in PvP. Damage shield values are halved properly in the tooltips, but damage and healing values aren't and damage types (direct/DoT/AoE/ST), are not even mentioned at all.

The thing with the advance character sheet is that it shows you something different than what most expect to see.
I agree that many stats under Advanced tab are not very intuitive.

You want to see your cumulative/total speed, they just show your sprint speed and SPRINT speed only. This is just one modifier that will be applied to your total speed. Excludes expedition buffs and even movement speed buffs. Technically correct, but not very useful to understand total speed. This will always show 140% (sprinting gives 40%) + any modifiers that directly affect sprinting.

Similar with crit damage. It only shows BONUS crit damage DIRECTY applied to character. It does not count the base 50% or any conditional modifiers like backstabber. It does however count force buffs or fighting finesse for example.

There is a problem with saying “sprint speed” and showing “sprint bonus”. Those are not the same thing. It should not take wholly redefining a word to make the information given correct.

The stats page also omits crucial information from the speed info. If it never gives you your actual speed, which it doesn’t, then showing only the sprint bonus (erroneously labeled “speed”) is mostly useless. It relies on you calculating your speed before sprint and then adding the “sprint speed” (really bonus) shown, and then knowing there is a cap on overall movement speed (but not on sprint bonuses). This is unlike critical damage, whose tooltip actually states there is a 50% base to which the crit numbers shown are added. No such information exists for speed, and non-sprint speed varies anyhow, so there is no way to know your actual sprint speed from the advanced stats menu despite it claiming to show that.

ETA: Yes, critical damage cannot take into consideration whether you are flanking something for Backstabber — the alternative seems to be erroneously showing us a bonus when we’re facing a particular cardinal direction, which is the “solution” they went with for the nightblade assassination bonus.
