If I don’t have others to help, I wait until that dungeon is one of the Undaunted pledges and pick it up that day. The queue is faster and I run it as much as I can that day. It can be a long wait if it’s not one of the pledges, and I can’t stand waiting in the queue forever.

Make a solid tank build, even if it is selfish. Supply your own heals, purge, etc. and most standard vet dungeons will be a breeze. Assuming you can get a group dps that isn't that of one person. You could also do a healer, though those slots seem to be pretty over saturated as of late.

Though the true best option is making friends/guild mates and using discord, it makes communicating mechanics and roles much quicker and easier in my experience. If everyone knows what they are doing, it is less of and issue. Especially when not doing hard modes.

Network and find communities on twitch and other sources. JimmyJJShabbadu does a community night dungeon open queue with chat/viewers. I have made multiple hard mode clears that way. Gandork usually one of the team and he is a solid dps, Cnedra is a real good tank but I think they have been doing other things as of late. You can fill any role your comfortable with. Just a suggestion if you're on PC-NA. I'm sure there are others that do similar, I know FtC on PC-NA/discord has a monster helm lfg/help area as well.

I don’t know that it’s broken just because Coral Aerie — assuming you mean Gryphon’s Reprisal — doesn’t fill in a timely manner. (It’s definitely broken in other respects, just hard to prove this one.)

Keep in mind that dungeons are DLC, so only those who bought that particular pack or who have ESO+ have access to CA. That cuts down on the pool.

Characters under level 45 are ineligible.

Many people who do randoms preferentially queue with lower level characters (grabbing a friend, guildmate, or random from zone if necessary) or people who don’t own DLC so they can get an easier base game dungeon. That keeps otherwise eligible players out of your specific queue.

Many players I know also explicitly avoid the dungeon finder due to bad experiences and run with guildmates or friends. Many are happy to run content if asked, especially by guildies, but won’t be found randomly in queue. They learn to solo, duo, or run with guildies.

The dungeon finder is really not intended to be the only option to run dungeons. It cannot reasonably do all that heavy lifting itself. If you plan to get into any sort of endgame content, you will need to work with groups anyhow, so finding a guild to get started really helps in terms of gearing, meeting people, doing group activities, etc. Many guilds, even social ones, offer LFG channels for people looking for specific content like farming. Many guilds are happy to help if you ask. It is not at all a bother just to ask! We know that waiting for people to come to you randomly inevitably takes so much longer. Even if not everyone wants to run as many times as you want right then, some may be willing to run once or twice and then others may want to run after that or on another day. That’s what the social element of an MMORPG is for. You have more people out there willing to help if you make that connection and they have more of a social investment beyond random pugs.

Dungeon gear farm is the best on normal difficulty.
You only need vet 3 times for monster helm. The rest is for fun, keys, achievements and motifs/styles.

The best day is the day when there is a pledge for this particular dungeon. So you'll have way more groups running it.
It is good to do as many run that day as you manage. Any other day is usually not so intense.

Tell people you run with that you farm the particular set and ask them to share the spare parts.
Do it at the beginning and before the last boss. Don't expect many people to share it with you (many players just don't care or fill their own collections), but you'll have some parts shared, and it is better than nothing.

Open all the chests you found. Tell people about the chests so they could loot them too.
The drop from chests is not curated, so each chest looted is a chance to have some weapon or jewelery shared with you.

Try playing in other roles, not just DD. You may have a lot of fun and open new horizons for further play.

Queue as a healer or tank (try and at least have some heals/taunt to do those roles) or ask guild mates if they are happy to help. I've helped out a few players, we'll usually team up and just throw them all of the set pieces they want. It's worth asking, as we've all been in a similar situation. Especially if you can get into voice chat and just have a laugh while you're doing it.

You might also get some runs if you're able to do the dungeon in vet. I try and queue in both as a legit healer and that usually gets me some extra runs. Also that can appeal to guild mates/friends who need the monster heads

If you are going the route of tanking with some DPS I got a setup on an arcanist that works excellently imo, assuming that the others will catch on and let you initiate fights.

Putting aside the gear selection it mostly comes down to the Herald of the Tome and Soldier of Apocrypha skill lines and a particular set of skills for trash. My ritual goes as such:

- reach enemy group but don't get too close
- Cast Rune of Displacement (the initial cast doesn't aggro immediately, this is to choose your target to center the others onto)
- Cast Razor Caltrops on the same initial target (or another major breach you can shoot into the pack but this one is the best as lingering AoE)
- Run in and cast Cephialarch's Flail to immobilize them in, they should have been pulled by the displacement by now.

Then if they're packed up you should be close to max crux if you had your Recuperative Treatise and Cruxweaver armor active to then use a Pragmatic Fatecarver (I use this morph for the damage shield as part of tanking).

Other skills I do use are the arcanist taunt as its own unique armor buff for you and debuff for target (plus giving crux), any decent self-heal, silver leash to pull in stragglers (I use this one because the rest of my kit uses up a lot of magicka) and Rune of the colorless pool for bosses.

I think it should be adaptable enough with other skills of your liking, using any third skill line you prefer to replace Curative Runeforms and any decent sets with good armor to run through normal and keep you alive and add some damage. Personally I have Coral Riptide paired with the Esoteric Environment Greaves which adds a lot of damage mitigation and if they lower my stamina somehow through it then I hit harder with Coral Riptide. If you have it then Powerful assault might be decent given it uses Razor Caltrops a lot. Otherwise crafted sets might be serviceable and customizable in weight, can't go wrong with Order's Wrath and if you have a need for speed I lowkey like Adept Rider for perma major expedition and the 2-4 set pieces bonuses do include extra armor and health! Gotta get to those packs before an overly eager DPS scatters the mobs across the wind.

Update, finally got it. I just bit the bullet and did dungeon finder when I was doing treasure maps, fishing and resource maps. Got a few runs and finally hit it! Thanks!

I did encounter one weird thing however, one guy (who was also looking for specific things) was messaging me and I whispered back but my whisper wouldn't send... I'd type in the text --> send and.... nothing. Very strange. Any ideas?

Slot a taunt and queue as tank. If you know combat basics such as block and dodge, you'll be fine. If you have a vet solo arena build, that will work.

Congratulations!

They were probably set to offline. You can’t whisper people set to offline or people who have blocked you. But I don’t imagine they would have blocked you and I’m not sure you can whisper people you have blocked.

Yeah occasionally people (I'm guilty of this for sure) forget they're in offline mode and send a whisper and you can't reply to them. Really the game shouldn't be letting people send whispers in offline mode, but that's a topic for another day :P
