February 19, 2026 Livestream Question - Scalecaller Peak

I wasn't able to watch the entire livestream. I had to check out while you were showing off the new difficulty setting (you were flying around looking for a bear to kill then some trash mobs - Why can't we have flying mounts in ESO, again? You made flying look so easy...Anyway -)

You mentioned something about changing game content based on player feedback. Specifically, you mentioned changing dungeons that players find too difficult or troublesome to make them better and not so difficult to do. Scalecaller Peak IMMEDIATELY came to mind. The skills check of the first boss encounter in NORMAL Scalecaller Peak is so ridiculously difficult that those familiar with tend to quit the dungeon as soon as they realize they've been placed there via the Dungeon Finder. I am guilty of this on all my toons except my main as my main is the only toon I have that has any chance of not dying repeatedly during this fight. I've done the fight a couple of times with a player with max or near max CP that easily nuked the bosses but they are an exception, not the rule.

So, based on your comments during the livestream can we expect Scalecaller Peak to be reworked so that players don't have their time wasted on a fight that is CLEARLY overtuned for what should be NORML difficulty? Say yes and forgive me if I don't hold my breath waiting for the changes to be implemented.

Thank you.

that would be nice, Scalecaller Peak's ogre bosses are indeed very difficult

Nooo don't ruin Scalecaller! I love that dungeon. I love that there's interesting mechs and things to do other than just stand and burn. Maybe they could be toned down a little for normal but I would literally cry if they destroyed them

Scalecaller Peak is not difficult. Even in random search I never had any issue with completing it. The ogres are pretty easy to beat, you just need to do them combined not one after the other.

SCP is easy, you just need to follow mechanics

but sure, nerf it, and then wonder why some people hit the wall when they want to try vet content

U48 rant: Normal dungeons are too hard
U51 rant: the difficulty increase from normal to vet is too steep
U54 rant: the difficulty increase from vet to hm is too steep
I guess mobs should spawn at 1hp at be ready to die dramatically.

There is 2 intertwined, time based mechanics, and 2 individual mechanics (that are basic as it gets, interrupt and block/roll). I think none of them kill you in one hit in normal even if you don't play them right.

Also, on flying mounts, it is not the same for a dev to use a tool than to let every player have something that severely breaks game boundaries and was not meant to be part of gameplay, and not expect a million issues.
This text used to said "Main: Dragonknight Tank". Way before subclassing, my raid leaders made sure I had many identity crises on both roles and classes. I tonked. Or dodoed. Or healed. Updating accordingly.

Main: Stuff-doer on a wizardry game. Still enjoying it.

Scalecaller Peak is extremely easy, as is every other old dungeon, but of course as most DLC dungeons it can be tough if you headbutt it like overland with no regards to any mechanic, as simple as they are.

Tank keeps ogres apart from each other, DPS kill them around the same time, that's it. You can even easily solo it on a ranged build with a heal.

I just find disingenuous when nerfing the content is brought as a solution when it's so so much easier to just learn it, and I'm not talking about any kind of difficulty, there are lots of things in the game I wouldn't mind being nerfed, but this isn't one of them.

The solo modes are coming so it will probably get easier. I just hope that even after the solo mode it will be possible to go solo to the old group mode. Like, sure, make it easier for those who want it, but leave the more difficult mode as it is for those who enjoy harder content.

If you look at Lucht's sub 10 min trifecta, that run would earn him the third place in speedrun dot com. As in, only two 4 player groups are faster than that run.

I've never been in a pug that has balanced its damage on the ogres. It's always melee first then ranged.

I've pugged this dungeon a lot and didn't even know there was a problem with the ogres, so they must be fairly easy on normal. Can't speak for vet.

Vet is not hard. Neither is hm really. I think the problems people run into a lot is pugs. You never know what you're gonna get. Like a box of chocolates, so I've heard. Normal is cool for pugs maybe even some vet, but once I started doing organized group runs, I'll never go back to pugs.

The ogres have only normal and vet difficulty. Only Zaan has HM.

I think people see the one they’re closer to and tunnel vision it. I also attack the melee one first unless I see the other DPS is attacking it, then I do middle to keep the balance. People who don’t know mechanics should be willing to learn if they’re told to kill both around the same time.

I was surprised when I tried to stack the ogres on normal that it obliterates everyone still. So I guess the question here is… is the normal level of dungeon for people who don’t want to do any mechanics and not die or is it for learning how to do a dungeon?

And I’m surprised people are saying it’s easy on veteran as it has been a pug buster multiple times for me (mostly because of the ice-chase, people struggle with that. I struggled with it when learning tank too because youre so close to the boss… and I had lightning form so I couldn’t see the white glow LOL). But I don’t mind pug buster first bosses. Saves the suffering from doing more of the dungeon with people incapable of clearing some later boss (edit: and honestly, I wish we had more mechanic and dps checks on first bosses. I don’t like leaving bad groups unless we hit a wall because I want the pugs to understand why I’m leaving and have a tangible goal to pursue).

If I could get all the new gamers to run Scalecaller Peak then they would understand why they need to know the mechanics in this game. Scalecaller is a great way to learn the mechanics of a dungeon to make the game smother for all gamers. If I were to change anything in Scalcaller it would be the last boss. Those areas of poison is very difficult, the game seems to be able to separate the group and the next thing you know your in the middle of the big poison area and it activates.
