What's guild activity like these days?

The steam charts show that the daily logins are trending upwards and like to be back above 10k per day. It looks like an appreciable number of players have been coming back to the game.

However, in my three guild discords (all non-trading guilds) things still look rather dead. In the past (up to and including Gold Road era) there would be weekly Trials and PvP events but now two of my guilds haven't done any events since Subclassing while the third guild does predominantly overland events.

I was wondering if this were a reflection of the state of the game or a reflection of the state of my guilds (i.e. guild officers becoming less active in recruiting new full time players).

What is your experience?

The PvP guilds I play in seem very lively as of late! A major contributing factor is that both the leaders and the other members feel a reason to play the game at the same time.

    Ok.
I'm in five guilds on PC-NA, and the chat seems to be lively any time I am on. I do notice the guilds that frequently had to purge to add new members haven't had to purge as often. That might be due to all the new guilds I have noticed popping up with increased frequency this last month.

    Ok.
    im in 5 guilds
    • 1 of them has been a little quieter over the last few years, but i think some more active members became inactive (might have been RL stuff)
    • 1 of them has been kind of low activity as a pvp guild because the guild lead was banned around 6-8 months ago
    • 1 of them has been a trials focused guild which has been a lot slower as of late mostly due to some people having severe burnout
    • 1 guild is a trade guild that recently decided to stop trading, mostly because of operating at a loss that was unsustainable
    • 1 guild is still pretty active both in chat and trader

so i would say "mixed" lol

In my experience its been ok, I think over the last 3 yrs my guild have only been unable to fill a roster a couple of times, and I would tend to put that on us putting signups up too late. But annecdotally from other GMs they have been suffering, especially those trying to setup new HM progs.

There has been a pretty severe exodus going on, and many vet players included in that. We are struggling with this, but I'd say it's the state of combat since last summer that's causing it.
I commend all of you for sticking with it. Hopefully, March/April will get things going in a better direction. We have decided to at least attempt to keep going, as it is our friendships and years together in Eso that are keeping those of us who still remain here today

We have a hand full who get together for a run on Saturday. Otherwise, I see a couple log on for dailies and that's it. And this guild formed as soon as the game released (all three factions).

I mean it's not dead, but it's not vibrant either. I'm in 2 guilds and when I actually have chat on people are talking, but the active members is still lower than it once was. I had a guild die a few months due to most of its players being offline, including its wonderful founder. Most of what see in guild chats is just raffle spam, so I tend to keep it off.

Trial wise fairly dead in all five. One is more casual and the guild master puts in a lot of effort in times which leads to more runs. One guild pugs half, the other is up to half to 3/4 or cancel. Pvp focused guild seems decently active but not where is thriving and healthy.

Hardcore seems dead, casuals seem ok but not super healthy states. Vet OC run Saturday looks half filled so far, that guild has a higher success rate. A few decent friend or pug fills and it should be okay.

Trade wise most that participate are doing okay. Traders are in the same spot every week. Sales are slightly down as are prices, but I can make millions if I keep restocking and farming.

Most of my guilds have gone dormant. A trade guild has stopped trading or having group activities. The only chat activity I see is from the new trade guild I just joined.

And guild participation was down from the previous three years three years ago as well.

U35 man. What a colossal mistake that update has turned out to be.

Depends on the guild. Some of my guilds it's probably time to leave but I haven't yet because they're practically dead. Others are doing well.

    It depends.

Many of the big trading guilds seem to have no presence anymore, so buying rare items is getting hard to do.

One of my guilds is actually trying to get a vet prog group started and they are running 3-4 trials per week now. I’d say I’m pretty lucky though, I don’t think many guilds are doing that now.

My social guild is hanging on with a core of active players, but with reduced activity overall (and new players who stick around have become extremely rare) - most weeks they can barely scrape a trial together, when it used to be one casual and one vet run every week and they had waiting lists. Other events are sometimes cancelled for lack of participation.

My original large mournhold trading guild that had been a fixture for years has all but disbanded, with almost no activity and only an occasional lower-end trader.

My other trading guild is doing ok, but again, quieter than it used to be.

Most of mine are doing well. All of them usually full. Though a few of them there's definitely a revolving door of players coming and going. Mainly new players who get kicked for inactivity. But the line of new players must be infinite because there's almost always a backlog of applications.

If I were to draw any conclusions based on the anecdotal observations from the guilds I'm in, the biggest issue at the moment is new-ish player retention. They always seem to come in excited, guns blazing. But flame out pretty fast. Usually around the time they start prepping their characters for the subclassing grind.

There are a couple of the PCNA guilds that are still bustling. Over on PCEU (main place for me), all guilds are pretty quiet - though that is on me for remaining in guilds I have emotional attachments to (and kinda co-lead so don't want to leave!). As I co-lead a guild I can say that all the leaders' lives have changed in the past few years and it is really hard to get significant levels of events going. We are trying, and also keeping it casual for the people who just dip in and out. I'm in one trial guild and we are struggling with core members for progs. Even with guild alliances using Discord it is hard going.

That said, everyone is really excited for Update 49 and the upcoming changes, so I think there will be an uptick in activity.

I would love to have a couple more guild slots though. I know it must be tricky to do or it would have already been done, but it would mean I could add a couple of more active guilds and be able to join more activities and trading.

    Of course.

But I picked 2022-23 as a base point because I figured most of the Lockdown population bump had passed and the remainder were new long term players such as myself.
