I mainly play solo/quests/Overland and have never seen anything like this. Is this a graphical glitch?

Are you asking if we've been killed by guards, or are you asking about the death recap screen in general? Or maybe tooltips?

Here's a reminder that the public dungeon quest in Coldharbour literally requires you to see this screen in order to progress the quest.

Regardless of how many good players are in your group, sometimes the game outright requires you to see that screen.

is this seriously asking if we have seen the Death Recap screen?

Yes my characters have died many times.

i have done it on purpose plenty too, like jumping into the ocean and hug Slaughterfish to port to a Wayshrine.
    - in Housing to test how far down i can build.
    - jumping off cliffs to get down or port to shrine.
    - hugging guards or daedra in Cyrodiil and imperial City to port back to homebase.

None of the answers apply to me. In the 10+ years I’ve been playing since beta with lots of grouping and lots of soloing, I’ve died both in groups and soloing sometimes, but not enough to say I know those screens too well with a sad face at the end. Somehow, when I’ve died, I’ve just picked up the pieces and moved on without feeling any negative emotions. Or am I taking this poll too seriously? 🙂

I'm not really sad about "knowing it too well", actually, I don't really know it much at all. I can't read it very well. Addons and logs are a lot more understandable. That said, I think people sleep on the hints at the bottom. Yes, most of them are very silly like "use magicka to use magic abilities!", like seen in The Mage screenshot, but they can also give you very good hints on how to do mechanics. Like for Lep Seclusa first boss, it'll tell you that the green ball 1-shots unaware Dunerippers if you missed that from the previous animations (the stairs at an early trash pack and also right when you walk into the room).

Trying to solo DLC world bosses and other group content in Overland etc I see it quite often. Sometimes I win, sometimes I don't. I certainly have no desire to see regular overland solo content become so hard that I see it often. That would make farming mats highly annoying. Although that might boost the prices I can get for them.

If they want players to pay attention to it they should probably remove the joke hints. I read a few when I was new and they were all like "fire causes damage" and "abilities cost stamina or magicka" and after that I stopped reading them. When the screen comes up I'm already thinking about if I want to revive on the spot or at a wayshrine and I never read any of it. I know what killed me because I was there when it happened.

I assume this is intended to build up to the 'big reveal' where the poll results will "prove" that some part of the game is too easy or too hard.

I was thinking the same thing when I wrote that. Some people even think the real hints are from an addon because Hodors has a mode that insults you in the hint section. ZOS should really look into removing the silly hints. If there’s nothing useful to say, say nothing or give otherwise hard-to-obtain information like how to weave, stand in front of the healer, how to change enemy aoe colors to make them easier to see…

I said solo, never seen it before, but it turns out the question was unclear to me. Of course I have seen the death recap screen. Even if I had never died in combat before (I definitely have), I would have seen it because I've gone afk in the middle of nowhere and come back dead, jumped from a massive height and died, etc.

I honestly doubt there is any long-time player who has genuinely NEVER seen the screen before. My guess would be most of the "never seen" screen responses are probably people who didn't understand the way the question was worded or due to the lack of "in between" options (i.e., the options are either solo or group & either "never seen" or "know too well"). Just something to consider in case you really did want clear results.

I guess it is about the death recap as an information source.
You can see a death screen just like that for years, until you press the button for a recap.
I believe that the players who've never seen a recap exist.

Yeah I don't fully know what's being asked. Is the OP asking how often we die? Is the OP asking whether we read the hints? Is OP asking about specifically what killed them in the screenshots?
