Hello everyone! I am a 72 year old mother/grandmother and while I have played ESO since 2014... I never knew about this forum for updates, help and discussions! :O can you believe that!?

is there anything specific I should do here?

The forums can be a bit rowdy sometimes but people mostly mean well. People basically just discuss the various pros and cons of the game.

You can choose an avatar to use, if you'd like.

The developers make comments too and you'll see their names with "ZOS_" in the front of it for the most part.

Other than that, just browse what you'd like and post as you please. Welcome 🙂

Public Test Server for current upcoming update testing
Bug Reports if you are feeling helpful
Events if you want to see what is coming (although ZOS haven't updated that in a few months)
Lore if you want to get your nerd on/complain how ZOS are ruining everything lore-wise
News is a just a repeat of the launcher news
Patch notes for Natch Potes (google it, it's legendary)

All the other sub-forums tend to just get piled into General, so you tend not find much activity in there.

Welcome! I'm only 30 but I've been playing ESO since 2014 as well (though I skipped year 1), I only check in once in a while so I understand the feeling that it sorta flies under the radar. It's nice having a place to chat about the game, present feedback, get help, etc. when needed!

Anyways, I agree with everything people are suggesting. I'd say if you want to get into some discussions, just browse the different areas of the forum and look for any new(ish) topics that seem appealing to you. The ultimate goal of a forum is discussion so if a discussion topic sounds interesting, feel free to contribute to it at your leisure.

If you want to see all the posts from all categories at once, in the order of most recent update, go to the Recent tab up top (in my browser's view, anyway), or this link it leads to: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussions. The forums aren't as super-active as they were in earlier years, so you rarely have to go back very far to get caught up. I always use the Recent view to see the day's activity since I'm interested in just about everything.

If you're looking for a specific category, you've got the Categories tab at the top, and here's its link: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/categories

A lot of people like to complain here, and we have had a few over the years who just wanted to pick fights or harass for their own gross amusement, though they tend to get banned eventually for the most part. It's not hard to figure out who these are and ignore them if any pop up, or flag their post and report them to the mods if necessary.

For the most part, you might encounter a little salt or condescension from players frustrated at running into that one game glitch they hate for the 500th time, or that major update they're convinced will "kill ESO overnight," but rarely will you be hit with outright hostility. So just have fun and enjoy your time as much as you can.

Personally, i tend to use the Recent Discussions page as it has new posts and posts with recent activity.

At the top of Recent, there are pinned posts by ZOS. They are often discussion threads for news posts on the ESO website.

it is useful to regularly look at the posts on there to be caught up with changes and additions.
News posts are about things like:
- Events.
- Crown Store Showcases.
- Monthly Roadmaps.
- Update Previews.
- Livestream Announcements, which are then on Twitch on the announced time and day.

Whenever a new update releases, there are Patch Notes detailing what got added, fixed, or changed in the game.

ZOS also adds feedback threads there during Testing cycles whenever a quarterly update gsts publicly tested.

During testing cycles ZOS will (probably) regularly look at those official feedback threads and respond when they can.
This cycle they also started doing PTS weekly summaries of feedback and changes.
i believe the update 49 testing cycle ended, but Night Market will not launch until April 29 (almost 2 months after the big update) so you can probably still leave feedback on it if you tested it.

if you love Housing like i do, we Housers occasionally make posts in its designated category and it is always nice to get support on our Housing request posts.

There are regular player-made threads that are pretty negative. Some changes are understandably frustrating, but the feedback is not always understandable or expressed calmly.
Like posts about how the game is dying or that someone is threatening to quit the game because of a combat adjustment.
You do not need to go to every thread, but that is your own choice of course.
