I am talkign about "Players" who join in RANKED Battlegrounds ZOS ? @ZOS_GinaBruno
  • They stop playing as soon as there is a slight disadvantage or not playing AT ALL
  • Some join die once and never revive
  • Others never live spawn crouch and do nothing

I guess they join from work or just want the XP points and gear, but damn, this is HIGHLY TOXIC and not respecting the time of others !

This is really unbearable...

    People who are doing such things are indeed unacceptable, but once again the warden charm is causing problems in BGs too.

    But if warden charm was to be removed, I will agree that harsher punishments should be given for quitting and not being active in BGs.

    It happens almost every single deathmatch that someone decides to be a sore loser and stay up on the platform to make the game take as long as possible. At least the map with the scaffolding in the middle lets you hit them, the other maps feel like a pathetic scramble to try and get them. If anything, warden charm is the only thing that seems to help since you can get them stuck by the edge when they walk out to hit people, giving enough time to kill them. Would be better if you can chain or charm them off the platform… or, you know, the game should force them down.

    Maybe ZoS needs to look at the root of the match making not working well. Mayhaps it is just the fact that there aren't many people queuing for that content in the first place. I joined 3 that were fun, then I got bumped into terrible matches and stopped queuing. When it is that lopsided, I too just want to get it over with. It also doesn't help the leaving penalty is much worse in battlegrounds for some reason. I would think it would be less than 15mins not 30mins+.

    Kevin at zos acknowledged that mmr needed to be looked at in a other thread but I forget which one. He basically said it wasnt happening soon but that it was on their radar.

    My fellow ESO player in the third millenium they still had to "investigate" people out of bounds on top of a keep with siege in Cyro over multiple days, idk what you think they are going to do about something that needs even an ounce of subjective judgement like BG griefing.

    As far as we can tell, the game only exists as chat logs and gold transactions to the TOS enforcement team. I'm honestly unsure if there's any one involved with ingame moderation who could even explain to you what a Battleground was.

    Oh I forgot, they also came down really hard on the people who dared to game the transmute system during that one event and repeat a daily endeavour for company scrip that one time.

    Not Battlegrounds, but I got knocked into a wall by Warden Charm in Cyrodiil tonight. I could totally see it happening in BGs if the circumstances are right.

    Not so long ago, I got stuck under the stairs in a battleground due to Explosive Charge (my cast). I had to beg the people on my team to fight over the stairs so the enemy AoE would (eventually) kill me.

    Yeah it happens all the time in Cyrodiil, but the guy claiming it does in Ranked as a means to sandbag the proposal is just an outright exaggeration.

    If we were talking 8v8, yes it happens, and you can get knocked below the boat and get trapped under the map for the whole game. It happened to me and I was furious… but that can happen with knockbacks just as easily as charm, and again, the OP is suggesting an enforcement of sportsmanship in Ranked play… which is completely fair.

    A simple fix would be to get pushed out of the base after 30s-1min.
    30s to 1min is enough time to buff without wasting too much time spamming abilities at enemies from inside the base.
    1 min is also ideal if you want to wait for group members to go together.

    Also, most of the people doing this are either new players or salty players. Any half-decent player would just "go next".

    You on PS5 by any chance? Loads of sausages on that console do this. They think they are smart and when you report them nothing happens as they arent breaking the ToS.

    Like you, i feel your frustration. I wish they would just be forced spawned so that i continously kill them in the hope that they rage quit the match, get the deserter penalty and give the position to someone who will actually try and participate.

    Well I did get stuck in a 4v4 BG with my nightblade because of warden charm so yeah it does happen in 4v4.

    The system just needs to group better, I typically get in a group were all 4 of us steam roll the others or in some situations I'm in the team that get steam rolled. When players know it's pointless to continue they'll give up, no need to be upset at that.

    I am of two minds.

    I understand the frustration of getting into content and having parties not participate.

    But then theres also things that push people into content they are not comfortable with, and penalizing them for no longer wanting to participate.

    Often the fastest way to get BG endeavor and pursuit objectives done is simply to lose as fast as possible.

    I would argue that the person in this battleground, telling their team to give up, is also part of the problem. Refusing to engage in the system mid-battle, because they don't like that people are... giving up mid-battleground? is the same problem.

    I think better MMR could go a long way too.

    I briefly engaged with BGs because I wanted to unlock the dyes and a bunch of the motif pages (I am a s****r for cosmetic stuff) but after - right from the outset - being '''matched''' 70%+ of the time with players that were in a completely different league I just gave up.

    I am no stranger to repetitive grinding but this wasn't just that, it was awful.

    Not sure if MMR is broken or is just that there aren't enough players to 'fill' all of the skill levels but I really don't blame players if they just give up.

    Last game I ever played I got so weary of getting a DK down to like 2% of their health through what to me was blood, sweat and tears only for the player to go back to full health in 1GCD, turn around and wipe the floor with me that I also gave up mid match and never returned.

    This is a bad excuse, full-stop.

    It's not like there's only 1 endeavor every day. Pick a different one. If someone is so uncomfortable with doing BGs that they would willingly throw the game, why are they picking the BG endeavor in the first place? The game doesn't force anyone to do anything, and it certainly doesn't force you to willingly enter a queue for a BG.

    There is also a possibility that the other team is trolling by not playing the objective and instead intentionally ignoring it just to spawn kill and make the game last longer by being an ***hole. I've personally experienced this first hand.

    This is a stupid idea. Clearly BGs use a form of EOMM and at certain points giving up is the only valid option, because you know very clearly when a team steamrolls you and becomes an unwinnable match. Though it should more be like just suicide against the enemy team so they win faster it doesn't always work that way.

    If the enemy team far outmatches the skill of the entire other team then it makes complete sense that some would give up.

    Also BGs don't even reward you for doing good they mostly just reward you for winning. If you're bound to lose, there is no difference between losing while trying and losing while not trying.
