PTS Update 49 - Feedback Thread for Housing & Furnishings

    I would profoundly like for the pillars in the wings to be movable.

    As they're quite basic rooms (which is fine, just slightly underwhelming), at least having flexibility and greater customization without pillars would be a nice reward for such a unique event and house.

    Checked Night Den wings.
    - I'd prefer interactable door (that opens, not port) instead of empty doorways, but ok, I can craft doors.
    - Didn't like much rooms in general. Too thematic to use as usual room not related to faction, not interesting enough by themself as representation of faction.
    - Would be nice to have some critters walking in and out those holes in Thousand Eyes room (best if with in/off switch), because even can't place pet there to walk and hide inside (it jumps on top in end/start point).
    - Didn't understand that strange wooden things in Ruckus wing. What they are?

    Items in rewards:
    - I found something nice for me in each crate, but Glittering Goad is MUCH more interesting. Books and food in other are useful, but that's just craftable things, and many items in Thousand Eyes box are trash we had a lot from witches festival. Would be nice to have something cool for each faction, those . Those mushrooms in barrels, for example, or eggs... Thousand Eyes need some more love!
    - Why bound?! TWELVE identical bound tables and we even can't sell them? Four khajiit beds? I don't think that I'll find enough place for them in all my 48 rooms and houses...
    - I don't think gold room looks good under cold fargrave light and purple lantern, though, that's not a problem, lanterns can be used somewhere else and some culanda stones hidden in columns and walls gives perfect light for this room.
    - But I love that purple lanterns and maormer carpets.

    A bit funny, a bit disappointing (though I understand why it's so) thing is that you can't place all items from boxes in house without ESO+ or removing something else.

    P.S. I like treasury counting from inventory, not bank, as I store gold on my main character. But it would be great to have settings (active character/specific character/bank), to make everyone happy.

    Really? :/ How odd, I'll have to go back and look again. The furnishing was not interactible at all for me, any of the weeks. Also their furnishing description on-hover did not say interactible.

    Just confirmed that its interactable and the description says it is interactable and audible just in case I had misremembered. It is one of those things where you have to make sure the outline is green instead of yellow, though. Maybe you accidentally placed it too far into the ground or too high up?

    My personal feedback after having taken the time to play around with the available houses and furnitures :

    Buccaneer Bay :

    Beyond the little bugs others have already pointed out, I find this house to be pretty good for what it is, I like the multitude of rooms available, though was a bit disappointed at the lack of rooms in the upper right side, it still doesn't take away from the overall feeling. I like how kit-bashy the building at the center feels, it mirrors my personal style of making due with the different structure furnitures available, so I like seeing in-universe houses that adopt the same approach.

    The two points of criticism I have for this house are the following :

    Slaugher fish being too close to the shore and thus cutting off a decent chunk of working possibility with the shore.
    The biggest and brightest sore thumb in the house : the ship at the entrance, WHY ZOS WHYYYY??? Seriously, the ship is there, it's already occupying space, and the edge of the house literally bends around it, just let us use it already. It's such a tease to a community that has been asking for ships for as long as I've been around, the number of people I’ve seen dedicating entire 700 slot houses to just building a ship from scratch, for you to put a whole one in the house then cut access to it is far too cruel. I’m sure there's a reason behind this choice, but I can't say I understand it, especially considering we have the Colossal Aldmeri Grotto that has a ship available with its “leave house" zone at the helm instead of the ship’s entrance. The house is great, I’m sure many people will love it for what it is, but I personally will not be buying it with access to the ship being blocked, simply because It’ll just *** me off every time I see it and remember I can't access it, and getting pissed off is the opposite of what I play ESO for.

    Night’s Den :

    I like it for what it is, the new Redguard style is a much wanted one as there aren't nearly enough houses that provide it. I like the available features, especially the wealth room (though I do agree with others when they say it should be indicative of the amount of gold in the bank, not on the character).

    It's not really a point of criticism against the house, but I felt the various unlockable wings were very underwhelming, especially for something you’d have to play the Night Market repeatedly over many seasons to fully unlock. Speaking only for myself here, I sure would’ve felt disappointed if I was playing to unlock a given faction’s wing and that's what I ended up finding behind the door. Of course I’ll play the Night Market for all the other loot and gameplay fun, but unlocking the wings will not be an incentive for me, in fact I might not even use them and instead dedicate all the furniture slots to the readily available space.

    Featured new furniture :

    I’ll entirely dedicate this part to the structure furnitures. Although the featured styles (Argonian and Worm Cult) aren't my personal cup of tea, I do think the quality is a step up, and I like the trend of giving us whole buildings / building segments as standalone furnitures, you cannot imagine the number of furniture slots it saves someone like me who’s into making towns and city districts, I sincerely hope to see this trend continued into other styles (especially my personal favorites : breton, imperial, and redguard, in all their variants).

    I particularly liked the Worm Cult ceiling, as it doubles as a great roof for my buildings that I make from scrap. I don't think I’m alone in saying we have a serious lack of roof options (most people use platforms due to their size, which are not ideal be it in appearance or in handling, and the dedicated roofs are too small and eat up a lot of furniture space).

    General feedback about furniture independent of U49

    To quickly go back to the point about roofs, I for one would immensely appreciate it if we could have more options for it, befitting the various styles of each tamrielic culture.

    Also regarding structures in general, I like how many of the newer structures can be used in various manners depending on which side of the furniture you're exposing, that conception trend is one that needs to be kept and expanded upon.

    Along with more whole buildings as a single piece of furniture (like the ones added for Argonians between U47 and U49 and previously in sparse quantities), consider walls that contain their own windows, I might be mistaken but I think up to date the only ones available are the Leyawiin ones (which aren't much).

    Certain small furnitures like desks that exist in the Overaland are oddly missing as housing furniture, the ones that come to mind right now being the High Isle and West Weald desks, the carts from West Weald and Solstice, many of the foods and dishes, but they're far from being the only ones.

    The style material requirements for some available furniture blueprints are a huge hindrance, especially when the drop rates for the materials themselves are ridiculously low. I join the person that spoke about this already in saying these requirements need to be reevaluated. That being said, I like the trend of adding furniture plans that only require basic style materials that can be bought from run of the mill crafting merchants.

    In conclusion :
    Buccaneer Bay looks amazing and checks a lot of boxes especially if you like converting houses to whole settlements, but not for me personally so long as access to the ship remains off-limit
    Night’s Den is great, I love it and already have big plans for it, but the wings are a bit underwhelming and will likely remain closed for me.
    The new furnitures are a continuation of a good trend in making intricate and detailed structures, please continue it. Extra points for the “Worm Cult Ceiling, Spiked Vault”
    Please add more roof options, large ones.
    Please add more whole building furnitures.
    Please add more walls with windows in them.
    Please consider releasing unreleased furnitures in previously released styles
    Please release more food furnitures (especially cheeses and curated meats)

    Other than that, thank you all for the care you seem to be giving this aspect of the game, it truly has become my personal end game, to the point where I would only engage with a different game mode if it offered interesting furnitures as rewards (too much ideas for housing, too little time to play anything else).

    Agree. The plot would be more attractive – not only with access to the ship but also moving the invisible walls way back for more of the open water in front. There is more water in back, sure, but you have to railroad visitors to it.

    Plots with open water at the entrance are VERY desirable for building. I for one have so many ideas that could use another Moon Sugar Meadow or empty plot with lots of water, and I'm far from alone in that!

    Despite some interesting show of improved communication, like listening to feedback (I think), ZOS is still the Imperial ZOS when it comes to housing questions and concerns: they only respond when it suits them, grudgingly, and this issue is an example of that. And then it takes them 9 years to do something we actually requested (well, the easy part of the request).

    I've cancelled my ESO + (why bother with it) and will be doing considerably less in game, because they simply refuse to talk to us.

    Bug report: rain inside in Buccaneer Bay

    I'm not sure if this has been mentioned already since I haven't gone through the whole thread but I noticed today it was raining inside one of the rooms in Buccaneer Bay. It's the upstairs room furthest to the western end of the island, up the stairs by the Portreeve's office.

    It's possible this affects other rooms as well, that's the only one where I saw rain but it was sunny outside most of the time I was exploring.

    Nights Den bug/feedback: Currency Vault

    I found the currency vault and got a pop-up notifying me that it fills dynamically based on currencies, but nothing to say what currencies or how to go about filling it. When I click on the gate all I get is this:

    (A dialogue menu asking how I'll go about filling it where the only option is 'goodbye'.

    I guessed it's based on gold your character (and it is) but it would be useful for the menu to actually tell you that.

    The vault will now look at your banked gold when updating the amount of gold in the vault space rather than the amount you have in your inventory.
    Corrected the tutorial text for the Night's Den Bank Safe to specify the correct favor requirement.

    Also yay! At least for people who will get this house :)
    I probably will not, especially if the invisible wall won't be moved back. (I wish the devs could tell us if that's being worked on and just taking a while due to some problems, of if / why it can't be done at all.)

    And,
    The “Gleaming Lamp” now plays audio when placed into a house.
    It does? I turned everything up to hear it, but could only hear the normal interface / placement sounds. Is that all it is?
    (Which is fine if so! Just checking. I don't like any extra sounds if they can't be turned off.)

    Also nice that the room stays open even if you remove the items:

    Pics just testing something ↓ bummer not to have matching rubble and broken pieces. Existing Stone-Nest structures are awesome as-is, but it's a shame not to have ruins with the tile set that's really perfect for them!

    This. After a bank wiping bug years ago I always keep my gold on character instead of in bank. Please let it pull from both or let us choose our option. We have addons that have accountwide currency functionality so something like this should be doable in some capacity I'd think.

    Only noticed now the change to it being banked gold. Thanks ZOS! Appreciate the change a lot.

    But best of both worlds would be an option for it, hopefully in a future update :)
