Class identity = Dragon Knight identity?

Will DK + subclassing become the new meta? If so, what about the identities of the other classes?

I welcome the idea of preserving class identities. However, I am also a big fan of subclassing. At the moment it is possible to play different classes with a meta setup. For example, Templar with DK and Arc, DK with Arc and NB, etc.

But after the upcoming changes - as I understand it now - the meta will obviously be DK - Arc - NB. That means I will be forced to play a Dragon Knight to remain competitive. Only as DK you will have certain damage buffs. So what about the identity of all other classes? If that really goes live, you have achieved exactly the opposite. The new meta will only become more one-sided instead of more diverse.

Of course, there's the argument that you don't have to play a meta build. But if you're playing in a progress group, you have to.
So, why not just buff pure classes? That has been suggested many times before. Why not just give the DK these buffs when no subclassing is being used?

Of course I understand that you have to start with one class and then gradually change the other classes. But personally, I don't like the way it's being implemented.
I'm sorry to say that this will make me lose interest in this game for good. I'm not going to wait years until all classes will be balanced. If that's ever going to happen…

It's a great thing that you guys take player feedback seriously and try to implement people's wishes. But I don’t think that the community wants the new class identity to be Dragonknight for the next few months. It's unfair that the DK will be so overpowered with subclassing, as has been described here in some cases.
I don't know if this is still the case after the latest patch. But if so, then I’m really done with ESO.

It would be really valuable to hear some thoughts from the developers on what the end goal of the class rework actually i, especially with subclassing, hybridization, balance, and class identity in mind. What are they ultimately aiming for, and what would success look like once the rework is complete? Just as importantly, what measures are they planning to use to maintain balance, class identity, and healthy subclass interactions throughout the process?

Personally, I’d love some clarity on what we’re supposed to end up with. Is the goal full flexibility, where every skill line is designed to be equally strong and interchangeable? Or is there already an expectation of built-in constraints that allow pure classes to thrive, with subclasses meant to complement rather than replace them?

And if it’s the latter, what tools are on the table to achieve that? Class-locked skill bonuses? Stronger synergies between class skill lines? Trade-offs that naturally preserve base-class competitiveness?

I’m not trying to argue for a specific direction here. I’d first like to understand what direction is intended, then we can actually have a meaningful discussion about whether it’s the right one.
