Hearts Week - are only 1 week events too short?

I think events that only last 1 week are a bit on the short side tbh...people can always have some other obligations that prevent them from participating in one week...
imo events should always be at least 1.5-2 weeks...if the event is not "worth" it over 10-14 days its probably not worth having it in the first place....

A week can be fine, events don't need to be super long. Leads to exhaustion.

But drop rate for event items should match, and I'm hoping the new Style pages will have a high drop rate. At 1 week long event we should be able to get more than 1 page a day.
[Lie] Of course! I don't even worship Daedra!

I'd say it depends on the kind of event and there's room for shorter and longer ones. but this is also a major event that's supposed to be on the same level as the other events in the achievements section. it should be one of the longer ones because of that.

Feels a bit too short for me; easy to miss out if you have work travel or any personal obligation.

FFXIV's is 2 weeks, and the whole thing can be finished in less than an hour.

ESO has a lot of FOMO and grinding, and is shorter.

A lot of people are answering due to event fatigue and thinking we have too many events, but that wasn't the question.

Maybe if events weren't built with an expectation to participate every day, long events wouldn't feel so tiring. A separation of tickets (soon trade bars) from the event objectives would help. Jubilee you can get your tickets from cake, then it's up to you if you want boxes or not, leads to a healthier experience.

I wonder if, with all the changes, there are bigger changes to events coming later in the year.

I’m hesitant to vote without further qualification.

Missing events happens — and it sucks — but no longer how long they are, there’s really no way to ensure everyone who wants to can experience the event as suits their schedule without making it permanent content (i.e. not an event).

So I’m judging this based on how feasible it is complete the event (which includes earning the rewards on offer) in the time slated, and how feasible it is for a player who missed the event to catch up. Now that the event is developed, it can be offered again next year, and hopefully those who missed the experience can catch up on the rewards now and then do the quests next year (because again there’s just no way to accommodate everyone’s schedule).

With that in mind, *in theory* a one-week event should not be an issue. Keep the same fragments already offered, offer one outfit style that can feasibly be earned by actually participating in the event (not having to resort to tickets, gold, or alt account farming), and it should be fine.

Unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be how this particular event is designed.

    1) There’s a new fragment to collect. That’s 10 of the 16 tickets we can theoretically acquire this event — but 14 is more realistic for many players, and that lower number is the total ZOS actually gives in their announcement.

Hope you came in with pre-earned tickets or have gold on hand because it seems likely you won’t be able to actually earn the new outfit set by doing the event:

    2) For the new outfit to collect, we are said to have only one chance per day to get one page from doing the event itself. That chance is not specified either qualitatively or quantitatively, but it is listed as “a chance” rather than “a guarantee.” That means roll poorly (which is not at all within our control) even once, and you will likely not be able to earn the whole outfit set. Some of it will need to be bought via tickets, gold, or alt accounts (which are not free on PC).

This concept is unfortunately not new to ESO: “you give us your time, and after you do we’ll give you a chance at maybe getting the prizes on offer.” Our guaranteed time for a guarantee of only a chance in a limited-time event doesn’t feel respectful to me, and the one week here makes that much more of an issue than a 10-14 day event. Unfortunately this type of exchange is a pattern that’s well established now and which they don’t seem to see a need to change.

If they want to make an event this short, they need to design it in such a way that it properly rewards players’ time. For example, pages could be guaranteed from each gold box, or they could be granted once per day but with multiple viable chances (like lower chances in purple boxes). One chance at one page per day with only 7-8 chances total feels to me like asking us to gamble our time rather than exchange it. I’ve participated a lot less in events since the Anniversary Jubilee that one year turned everyone’s time into a similar gamble. I don’t like seeing it continue, especially despite the clear feedback offered by many players during and after that event. The less my time feels rewarded, the less of it I put in. On the upside, I am grateful that this m.o. is helping me set healthier boundaries.

To me, it depends on how much event fatigue I'm feeling. If we just had an event, then the second one is fine being only a week long. AS long as it isn't one of the big ones (Anniversary, Halloween, New Life). As the Hearts day is brand new and we just had the Whitestrake , I'm fine with one week for that one.

I have event fatigue, so I'm ok with this being 1 week. I have 12 tickets leftover from last event, so I'll just grab the next Recall fragment and maybe level up some companions.

This just the heart week. No need to have that event be long.

On the other hand it is normal for zone events or undaunted and such where an actual gameplay is present( eg: dungeons, trials,..) to be longer as there are things like grinding that are present.

I'm concerned about the grind for golden Companion jewelry during Heart's Week. Only 1 week to acquire golden Companion jewelry until next year rolls around.

Longer than a week is good sure.
Though it is also good that events that are based on singular days are longer than a day.

    edited to add:
Drop chance for event collectibles should be increased a lot and be curated.

As duration is fine, it doesn't tire, but rewards "feel bad" in just 7 days: not enough time to get style pages, not enough time to take advantage of XP/rapport boost, not enough tickets (14 feels scarse with how many things people may have to spend tickets/trade bars on).

I get that long events can get boring, but 7 days really make me feel a pressure and unfulfillment.

On a side note: I would have appreciated a bonus to Companion Gear drop...

other games, i would say a week is perfectly fine...

but the way eso does them, no. if they would remove the caps on event currency and not make it so you had to participate every single day, then a week would be great. or even do all that and still give 2 weeks to complete it (like someone else mentioned ffxiv).

and of course some of this is happening. we know with trade bars that the cap for event currency will go away. but will we be able to just farm it when we want and not have to do a limited amount per day?

    1 Week Events are fine
For some events, one week is long enough. I think the Undaunted events are typically about one week long, for instance. But there are also a couple of events that are typically longer than two weeks, such as the Anniversary and New Life events. It's good that a few events are shorter than average, to balance out with the few that are longer than average.

On the other hand, I do agree with the comment about drop rates. An event should either be long enough, or have drop rates which are adjusted to compensate for its shorter duration, to give players a reasonable chance at collecting any new items.

Overall I think one week is fine, but I would like to see more events helping obtaining rare companion gear in higher qualities. Currently we only have one golden ring, this is the only other event since then to offer the chance at higher than epic/purple quality. TBH I don't know how much of a difference legendary quality will really make, but it cannot hurt.

One week or even shorter mini-events would be fine, as long as no achievements are associated with the event. But this Heart week event seems to have many achievements. If there's achievements, then it should be 2 weeks so that everyone has time to get them.

I know ZOS wants to lure people in with FOMO with the whole “first container of the day” thing and only being able to get X tickets per day… but I wish they would just say “you can earn x tickets total during the event, either by doing the same thing every day or doing different things on the same day. Once you have collected x tickets, no more tickets will drop”. Kind of like golden pursuits. That way, people who just want to take a chill approach can do their thing (or who don’t have a lot of time per day) and those that want to grind out the tickets in one go can do so.

as a "grown up" with job an chores to do it is always a bit difficult for me personally to dip into events during weekdays. and i have to play catch up on the weekends, which with the ticket system is often not possible because they are capped per day ( i assume with the trade bars it will be no different) so i prefer events to cover 2 weekends to be able to immerse myself without rushing it. Ideally something from Friday - Monday. that would be a good middle ground for me, but in the end I am not too bothered either way.

Yeah. This is how I feel too. Stuff like the BG weekends can be short because there's not achievements and other such things that are annoying to do when time is so limited.
