Nix Ox Warsteed

This is really disappointing, it was the one mount I was really excited to get. Moving from console to PC, I lost it… will there be a way to earn this again? Definitely prefer it over random flashy versions of it.

The Torchnix isn't flashy at all, this is a good change.

Looked closer and realized it DOES actually glow like a torchbug.
In that case I agree with OP, I thought it was just a redder nix-ox but sadly not the case.

I own the OG Nix-Ox but I don't believe having a normal mount like that should be locked to such a specific time frame. Maybe make both the new and old options available?

Does it permaglow or only starts to glow for a while if you try to jump while standing still (like the Dwemer car where doing that turns on a headlight for a while)? I've only been able to find 1 Youtube video and there, it does not glow permanently - but it's only in preview mode there, so I can't say for sure.

It only glows when you jump while stationary.

Brighter on the underside, but I wouldn't say it glows.

That's good. In this case it's kinda sad cause I understand the allure of the OG Nix-Ox, but the Torchnix isn't flashy, and I actually kind of want it lol.

I hope if the devs do anything, they make both available.

I mean regardless of it constantly glowing or not, the replacement one has been available in the crown store, while the War Steed hasn’t been available since Morrowind came out. So hopefully they allow some way to get it still. Would be nice to have the ones you see roaming Vvardenfell available to ride. Was just disappointed to have it shown available to be purchased to just change it last week of PTS to one that I passed on when it was in the Crown Store. But I’m happy for people that can get this one for gold if they like it.

As with all "right by the customer vs sensible for the game" -cases, I prefer what is best for the game. Offering the basic mount version on the in-game vendor seems to be most reasonable. It shouldn't matter that it was part of a promo a long time ago.

Could you elaborate? I don't think they'll lose a big amount of sales by offering the red nix ox for free. They might even get the idea to put the basic version into the crown store one day and might possibly even sell more of those than of the more colorful version.

Hey @Felkara! A mount like this would be perfect for the Gold Coast Bazaar. While we don't have any specifics related to this one, specifically, it's always possible we could make it available there at some point.

Selling the basic promo mount is more immersive compared to the glowing re-color. But apparently people complained because it was part of the Morrowind promo. So they rather swapped to an arbitrarily less gated mount, which is however generally less fitting for the vendor in my opinion.

It would make sense to offer the basic version for free, yes. That was also what I expected when they announced they'd sell different types for gold now; I expected a basic guar, a basic senche, a basic wolf, etc. I also expected the creatures to fit the region they're offered in, lore-wise.

But: that wasn't the case. Already in the announcement stream we saw a Khajiiti fox available at Vulkhel Guard, for example. Then, a few days later, on PTS the other mounts could be seen, including a Highland lynx for Summerset that lorewise should be Cyrodiilic, a Reachmen's Durzog in Solstice, and a Bleakrock wolf in two Breton regions despite the Name clearly telling us where its origin lies, and that's not Breton lands. Compared to that, a nix ox in Morrowind does make sense at least, no matter if it's brown or red.

I don't want to complain, of course. I'm glad we get them for gold now. But it made me wonder which aspects were considered when choosing these mounts. In the end we don't know. We don't have stats about what the majority of players prefers, we don't have sales stats. Without background info, all we can do is speculate. Assumptions that might be correct, or they might not.
