Will Woodworking sets ever make sense?

Sorry if this has been covered extensively (I tried some noob searches and came up empty but I can't believe this hasn't been discussed), but are there any plans to make the special crafting sites result in sets that make sense for Woodworking?

As it stands now, I don't see how anyone can wear 3 or 5 pieces of wood. Staves and bows are both 2 handed, and the only wood armor piece that I'm aware of is the shield. So how do you get 3 to 5 pieces of Woodworking gear on to get set benefits?

I assume this is an oversight that is to be fixed after bug fixes?

LoL. All the pieces work together. If you wear 4 pieces of cloth, you can make a staff to complete the 5th piece for a set bonus. You can dual wield weapons and wear 3 pieces of leather for a 5 set bonus.

Same goes for all types of gear/armor.

    So my understanding is correct:

    1) If you only do Clothing, you can complete sets and get set bonuses; and
    2) If you only do Blacksmithing you can complete sets and get set bonuses; but
    3) If you only do Woodworking, you will never be able to complete sets and get set bonuses without wearing someone's else's gear.

    Right?

    :)

Do you want to wear a tree instead of an armour?

If you only do woodworking then you can buy the rest of the set from someone else.

If you only do clothing, then you would have to buy a staff from someone, etc, make sense?

Or just do more then one craft.

Aren't there set bonuses that reward you for only wearing three items? I'm not a blacksmith or a clothing dude, but can't you make five items to wear in either of those professions?

it doesnt mater if it is a blacksmith/ww/cloth item, you still get the set bonuses.

Are set for 3 items yes.

Do you want them to introduce wooden armour or what is your point here?

Sorry, but I thought my point was obvious, I guess it's not. I'm at a disadvantage as a Woodworker since I can't create enough items to complete a set whereas Blacksmiths and Clothiers can. That doesn't seem right, does that seem right to you?

I didn't post originally to propose that they make wood armor and I honestly didn't know that you could complete sets across all three professions, that changes things a little, but still doesn't put us on an even playing field. One way they could address this is to add the ability to make equal quality wooden shoes, helms, belts, etc. Not that much of a stretch.

    Yes, that is a point.
Though someone only focusing on blacksmithing will be able to craft a 1h sword but not the shield.

You are not bound to 1 craft, 2 is even a recommended number.

I think this system is fair, because it fit my logic on where you can create thes items.
Some even want shields moved to blacksmithing.

There is no reason why you cant just go with cloth or blacksmithing too? You have way more than enough skill points to master a few crafts in this game. But in all seriousness its like you are asking to wear the enchanting glyphs to get the set bonus.

Best bet is to make one toon that can craft all 3... Especially if you want to use the rare motifs so that you only have to acquire them once. This also means you don't have to run to crafting stations on separate toons just to make sets.

Wish I had realized this initially but about 2 weeks in I switched it all to one toon and it's way easier to manage research and materials.

Dude, i understand you need woodworking... but you also need armor so start puting some skill points in the type of armor you want as well. ive almost maxed all 6 professions so whhy limit yourself to only woodworking? And then you ask if you have to buy some1 gear. ofc you have to lol. im a nightblade i need medium armor daggers and a staff/bow but you dont se me complaining over something so silly. what are you going to do with all 300 skill points anyway?

I suppose it is a point.... invest in clothing.. that is my counterpoint
my main has woodworking clothing and enchanting all on high levels

I suppose you can say that it isn't fair that you can't craft full sets with just woodworking, however neither can an enchanter, provisioner or alchemist.. so....

Jeez, guys, it's not the end of the world and I don't feel like I'm complaining about "something silly", I'm just pointing out that there is a strange imbalance between the professions and wondering if they plan to address it. I understand that I can choose other professions. As it turns out, my Woodworker is also 50 Provisioning and these two professions take all of my bank space. I have another account with another toon that is 50 Alchemy and 50 Enchanting, but the only one of the three "mains" that I did was Woodworking, figuring I would buy weapons and armor. But every time I visit one of the set crafting sites, I note that I can't complete any of the sets, so I thought I'd ask about it.

I guess I will start a toon that uses Clothing, since my two mains are Medium and Light. Maybe the Woodworker is balanced after all now that I think about it, because he makes a bow and staff for one character, and a bow and shield for the other character. No other profession has that much diversity.

Woodworking is inherently gimped as any one character, at any given time, can only wear one woodworked item.

BUT, it's easy to full-steam-ahead research 8 traits on Shield, Bow, and any one Staff (take your pick).

AND, price of improving agents for woodworking is lower. For example, Rosin is cheaper than Dreugh Wax. This is because there is less demand for Rosin.

SO, you're both lucky and screwed at the same time. Really, you should take up one of Clothing or Smithing (and keep woodworking, it's ok) if you want to play the custom making 5 piece sets game.
  • sevcik.miroslaveb17_ESO
On the other hand woodworking has advantage of trait research. You can get all traits faster than clothier or blacksmith... Perhaps this is the balance thing you know:-).

In overall I do not see this as an issue.

Bigger issue I have with crafting in general is stupid leveling system. Decon is more effecient way to level up than creating stuff, which IS silly. Also low level(in terms of crafting and skill points invested in craft) crafter should not be allowed to decon or refine stuff, he has not level for. With current system you can rush to top level and then start to gather high level stuff to decon with crafting alt. - Extremly fast way to level up crafting for alts. It will sooner or later lead to "one man army"

But enough of that Iam off topic sorry.

Maybe if they bring amber armor into the fold you can harvest sap to make amber and have a full set from woodworking. just a thought what do you guys think?

    I stopped reading halfway through.

I'm sad because I cant complete any sets as an enchanter and alchemist! I want to wear potions and glyphs for set bonus's please.

But seriously, You are not at a disadvantage because you cant craft a set out of only woodworking, you are at a disadvantage beacuse you chose to ONLY craft in woodworking, and its not an armor skill other then a shield because, well, we dont wear wooden armor and that would be stupid.

The set bonus's are designed around the person wearing them, not the person CRAFTING them. If you dont want to learn the other crafts then you just have to bite the bullet and buy your gear from another or get it from a friend who does craft in those.

I'm just rereading the opening post. I do see the point in the case of a woodworking specialist not having the ability to form a set through his/her craft alone.

Maybe if woodworking could create some type of wood involved accessory / accessories E.g. gem encrusted pendant, wood ring with gem...

Kind of pushing it and might clash with future jewelcraft in this scenario, but could have opened up woodworking to covering four item slots as opposed to one.

Um, no it was not a troll and no, I am not stupid. I'm just apparently a bit more observant than some of you. Thanks to those of you who actually understood the point and responded intelligently. We don't all have a thorough understanding of every aspect of the game we touch and typically we gain our understanding as we approach areas of the game we haven't experienced yet. Now I know more than I did and I'm ok moving on. I will probably take on Clothing as it will aid both my mains, and my wife and I can start together, leveling up by deconstructing the high level cloth we get that we don't use and deconstructing each other's creations.

I never cease to be amazed at the kind of commentary one gets from questions. Thanks, that is all. ;-)

Hey, we already have baby trolls and I guarantee you we aren't making any more!

I thought the wooden shoes were cute, but I didn't post them. But I did encourage it, so my bad. Still, I have to admit I was serious about imagining wooden shoes, like sandals or something. Like I said, I honestly wasn't aware that you could get the set bonus from mixed item types, it makes much more sense now.

    So. Never mind. Thanks, all.
