What do you think of two mundus stones for a crit build?

This isn't a min/max question, it's a how would this compare to other sets question, to do a fun thing for a char build.

For crit build there's a discussion when to use thief and when to use shadow mudus for crit chance or crit damage.

There's a set, twice-born star, which lets a char use two mundus stones so they could use thief and shadow.

If that wouldn't be less damage than other sets, we'd probably hear more about it, but roughly how would it compare?

I don’t do math but my concern would be how easy it is to get to critical damage cap (125%) with cp, passives, brittle, sets, medium armor... Unless you’re running it with order’s wrath, order’s wrath would probably be the set to compare it to.

For twice born just view the 5 piece as that mundus's bonus. So like if I chose the wd mundus that means the 5 piece is essentially 238wd and that is it. So, much worse than hundings rage. With divines you could argue its an ok set because it does go to 389wd.

Then ontop of that the 2-4 piece are max stats, which are poorly scaling. Just to cut alot of math and explanation down each line of max stat is worth is worth about 66% of a wd line. So if you are a max stam build, a max stam line can be viewed as 85wd.

I assume this is more for PvE, as in pvp it is near impossible to justify running divines due to the overabundance of crit damage and crit chance in the current game.

Yes, PvE. Hundig's Rage and Order's Wrath seem almost cookie cutter 'best', like sets aren't well balanced for variety.

They are, in fact, not well balanced for variety. That’s the biggest problem with the sets in this game. I’ve made a few good builds with weird sets (dro’zakar and pillar at the time, was hitting 90k when a good parse was 100k, frostbite/whorl was hitting 100k but on PTS last week I got this to 130k) but I don’t know how well they’d compete in this day and age of DPS numbers.

TLDR; no. Order's Wrath is a crafted set much better for this purpose, and combining it with either Mother's Sorrow or Leviathan and the Shadow stone will result in more dps every time. I'll go into how to come to that conclusion because it's educational (and it's fun for me).

As MincMincMic pointed out, Twice-Born Star is just 1 line for each attribute and whatever your second choice of mundus stone would be. Thus, the only things to consider is the benefits of being a crafted set, and whether you can get tgat second mundus stone boost in a better way with a different set. So, assuming full divines, which you'd use anyway, it's either a 2182 crit rating or 18% damage. I'll ignore Order's Wrath, because you wouldn't really consider this OVER that set, since they're both crafted and Order's Wrath gives 2257 crit rating AND 8% crit damage, making it outright better. And, since it's also crafted, the benefit if choosing armor weight for Twice-Born isn't really a factor either. Mother's Sorrow gives a mag line and 2842 total rating, meaning it also is outright more powerful, and it's an overland set from Deshaan, making it roughly as easy to obtain. The Leviathan set is the same, except it's medium and grants stamina, and it drops from Crypt of Hearts 1 & 2, which is an extremely easy dungeon.
The trouble is, you'd have to need both mundus stones AND be unable to get either effect better in another set, and the 2-4 bonuses are quite bad. I have tried for a while, but I've been unable to really come up with anything. The Steed is promising because flat bonuses to speed are extremely rare, but I most of the other bonuses can be gotten by at least two other sets, or something far more effective for that build. The only other ones I'd consider is the Ritual or the Shadow because their respective bonuses are so high, and critical healing boosts are also extremely rare... But critical healing stinks, and healing output is virtually always inferior to adding utility or other buffs.
