What is the Point of Maintenance?

From a technical standpoint, I mean.
In other words, hypothetically, what would happen if they stopped doing maintenance, except for when new content in being added to the game, or if major bugs were ruining the player experience?

Key Tasks of Server Maintenance (technical):

Security Updates & Patches: Installing the latest security updates for operating systems and applications to close vulnerabilities.
Backups: Regular and verified backups of all critical data to ensure business continuity.
Performance Monitoring: Monitoring server load, disk space, and system performance to identify bottlenecks early.
Hardware Checks: Reviewing hardware logs for errors (e.g., disk failures, network issues) and monitoring RAID status.
Software Maintenance: Updating applications (e.g., CMS, databases) and managing user accounts and passwords.
Capacity Management: Ensuring sufficient resources (storage, CPU, network) are available.

    Types of Maintenance:
Preventive: Proactive measures to avoid problems (e.g., regular updates).
Predictive: Using analytics to predict potential issues.
Corrective: Fixing errors when they occur (reactive).

Every time I see maintenance, I race to check the patchnotes with baited breath hoping to see the Timbercrow Wanderer costume diaper butt bug fixed. Alas, my vigil continues unfulfilled.

As I have posted numerous times: 'If Almalexia can wear a loincloth flawlessly, why can't my elf? Given the cost (in blood or treasure) to get this costume, it is quite irresponsible/negligent to leave it in such a defective state since the costume’s introduction way back in 2016.'

At this point, I'd be happy for a crumb of bread indicating whether this bug will ever be fixed. Is it on the to do list? Our devs can't possibly view this bug as acceptable (or 'intended'), can they?

I'm glad I'm not the only one.
