Daggers/DW have been BiS for PvE DPS for well over half the games lifespan now, mostly due to the super strong crit bonuses they grant that no other weapon matches, so it would be nice to see a change here for PvE DPS to have other options, especially Mag options.
Destro (Ice) staff has been the BiS back bar weapon (even better than sword and shield in most cases) for PvP since around U33 when resto staff got massively (and rightfully at the time) nerfed, mostly due to the overloaded ice staff versions of the destro passives due to trying to force it into the tanking role as well as a DPS role and ele sus.
Something that probably won't happen, but when reworking the Destruction Staff line, I would love it if ZOS could introduce a new staff line, "Alteration Staff" or "Mystic Staff" that focuses purely on tanking and support (like sword and shield is for stamina weapons), that way ZOS can rework the frost passives into actual DPS passives and keep magic and hybrid tanking viable by having this new staff dedicated to it with the passives, morphs and new focused abilities. Bonus is no new motifs would be required for the 500+ existing styles, since it would re-use existing staff motifs and assets.

I love having magicka based characters and I'd love to see each destruction staff type have it's own separate skill line, with the addition of being able to use a staff as a melee weapon. It would also be exciting to have Mysticism and alteration staves as there are so many magic schools in other Elder Scrolls games but only one staff type in ESO.
While I do like that using melee weapons with magic builds is an option I dislike feeling pigeon-holed into using daggers for high end content. It always throws me off because I'm used to the range of a staff and then I can't use heavy attacks to restore magicka.
There's a lot of room for creative exploration with extra staves. I hope we see more!
