For those on pts, how do the stackable treasure maps work?

I know theyre doing the envelope system, which is awesome!
But if you open say, greenshade 2, and have it in your inventory, can you not open another one from the envelope?
Or can you open them until its rng wants to give you one you already have?
Or do they truly stack and you can have multiple of the same kind?

(Console here, otherwise id check myself)

Thank you!

No, no, I just didnt know if I had 5 auridon 1 maps in my "unopened maps" containers that they would stack, or if it would make me do the auridon 1 that I had before letting me open more.

Thank you guys for the info!

open maps of the same will stack as 1 up to 200 new and old

    Stackable Treasure Maps

When you find a treasure map, you will now receive an unopened map. Using this item will generate a map in your inventory.

Treasure Maps are now no longer “Unique” and will stack up to 200 in your inventory.

There are some additional gameplay behaviors that have changed to accommodate this:
Treasure Maps will now be consumed when opening the chest, rather than upon dig of the Dirt Mound.
Leaving the general area of the Dirt Mound or Treasure Chest will cause it to despawned.

Any associated Golden Pursuits that ask you to dig up a Treasure Chest will now instead ask you to open a Treasure Chest with a Treasure Map.

Sharp-as-Night will now gain rapport when spending a map to open the Treasure Chest rather than upon dig of the Dirt Mound.

I read that, but it doesnt explain what happens when you open them from the unopened container status.

Does it mean that each treasure map from every zone will stack to 200? Or just the unopened containers of "unopened maps"

treasure maps will no longer be Unique. the current Unique tag makes it impossible to stack.

Do x > get "unopened treasure map" that stacks to 200 as stated in patch notes > open the unopened treasure map and get a unique one

How else would it work? Are you asking if auridon treasure maps stack? They didn't say anywhere in the patch notes that it works this way.

Question for @ZOS_Kevin or any EU mains who already had maps and can check on the PTS:
Will old, already-opened maps that you have on your account also stack?

Someone pointed to the surveys an an example – older surveys did not stack after the update.

EDIT: Confirmed stacking on old maps that players obtained pre-U49. The item ID remains the same, but the “Unique” tag will be removed so any duplicate maps can stack, regardless of when they were obtained.

Updated this post with a screenshot at the bottom. Thanks to Edenprime for the intel and shot!

(Leaving the @ tag up because we only have one "experimental sample" right now. If anyone knows this to be incorrect, please reply.)

That is great news! I like the unopened treasure maps containers, similar to writs, but having the old maps such as Southern Elseweyr Treasure I or Khenarthi's Roost Treasure Map I stack is spectacular! Now I don't have to have those maps across 10 or 15 of my characters and I can move them all as a stack to my designated treasure hunter character.

It would also be nice if the you could just stand in the spot where the treasure mound is and dig as many times as you have maps without having to run away and come back. This is how it works in Fallout 76 with maps and it's nice.

I'm thinking this means we will be able to retrieve items from mails that include a map already in your inventory? The last mail update actually made so you couldn't retrieve any of the items included in a mail if there was also map included that you already had in inventory. Before that, you could retrieve all items except the duplicate map. Removing the "unique" tag should resolve that.
