Elder Scrolls Online: the Lore-destroyer

Vaelithra_Sundergale
First things first I am sorry to erase all of my posts because of momentarily rage. I am leaving the forum because, I believe I have been wronged. But, in this forum it is not allowed to discuss disciplinary action so, I will cut my words here. It was not a complaint, I am just giving you information because, you deserve it. I will not erase this thread, tho.

Elder Scrolls Online: the Lore-destroyer

Elder Scrolls Online is known for its problems eventhough, it has some good things , too. But, biggest flaw and mistake of Elder Scrolls Online is destroying the lore of Elder Scrolls. I will give you some examples about this and you may discuss it even after I am gone.

- In 2016, "One Tamriel" update has been introduced and it has given to all characters (regardless of their alliance) to discover other alliances' zones. How did this break the lore and destroy consistency of Elder Scrolls? Because; you can defeat dominion soldiers as dominion-allied character for the favor of either pact-alligned or covenant-alligned NPCs. Does that make any sense? Not at all. Why did they do this? To give people more freedom ofcourse but; their writing was so poor in my opinion and they introduced this half-cooked Cadwell's Almanac to the game. You know, classic "if you were in someone-else's boots" style. But, it does not work and breaks lore very hard. >>> I was not around during this. I am just picking up residue in the game to create my opinion. It does not matter if it was doable even before OT update. Cadwell's Almanac thing is huge lore-breaking hammer by its own right.
- Discarding geographical and strategical possibilty during designing the world and missions. Can somebody tell me how the covenant successfully managed to skip Eastmarch, Rift and Vvardenfell without being detected and make a camp at the shore of Stonefalls? Strategically it does not make any sense either and there are lots of things like that in the game. Why not Eastmarch? Moreover, sea of ghosts is very cold place. Not every ship can travel through it safely. Also, your man must stay alive in that hard climate. They need lots of cloth, food, magic, etc. It does not make any sense. Besides, Skald-king resides in Windhelm not Ebonheart. And probably everybody knows it. He is a nord, not a type who keeps secret where he resides. Also, there are probably lots of spies, collaborators or merchants who share this knowledge with other alliances. So, skald-king's location was not secret. To sum up, it was more costly and less possible and strategically absurd to attack Ebonheart while there is Windhelm.

- If High Isle is politically separate region from High Rock (and neutral in the three-banners war), why do cavalry with Daggerfall banner patrol in its streets? By whose authority? Would you send your queen to enemy lands to negotiate peace? I highly doubt that.
- How do Xivkyn and Dremora manage to use magic from Aetherius eventhough they are purely oblivion-made creatures?
- Why do maormeri NPCs' armor looks like a variant of ayleid? It does not feel watery at all. There is no water theme, no leviathan motifs, nothing. It feels like just bland and dull variant of ayleid armor.
- Why did not Alkosh, Akatosh or Auri-el get involved in Ithelia incident? They are time gods (if they are same being or not is questionable and relative), you cannot separate domain of time from domain of fate. Couldn't they even send an avatar or messenger to guide our hero? Then why do people worship them if they cannot even do a simple thing like this?
- Same thing with Nocturnal incident (a.k.a Heart of Transparent Law) in Summerset questline. No involvement of any time god (not even Auri-el who is both time god and arch-divine of altmeri pantheon) but only a daedric prince called Meridia whose domain is not even related to either time or fate.
- How did sacrificed-Lyris return to life to help me during Dark Heart of Skyrim questline? Why did that happen? When did that happen? How did that happen?

There are lots of things like these in the game I cannot think of right now.

I have only one thing to say. Dear Bethesda if you are listening to me please either declare these inconsistencies as non-canon or do not produce TES6 at all. This would kill all of my love for Elder Scrolls universe.

Best regards, it was my last post.

But characters was able to go to other zones before One Tamriel.
One Tamriel didn't allow them go to other alliances - One Tamriel allowed to go there without finishing main story.
    PC EU, @Enemoriana. Ru.
Houses: Erstwhile Sanctuary as actual Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary, Hunter's Glade as werewolf tavern (downstairs), Strident Springs Demesne as adventurer's house.

You were always able to do this as part of Cadwells Silver/Gold. The only difference was pre-One Tamriel those other Alliances were on Vet servers after finishing the Alliance and Main stories. OT just made it so you can do it any time, in the name of playing with friends. Does it make any sense to be able to travel to another Alliance during a war - no, it never made sense to me. But, pre-OT they made up for it by putting it on Vet servers.

It's a big ocean, it's not like they have modern warships with radar - a force could easily sneak through.

I think the canon choice there is Varen, it explains why he's the only one who's not returned, at least not yet. But, yes, this particular "choice" isn't really a choice if Lyris and Sai will just come back if you choose them.

You're questioning how Lyris came back after being sacrificed, but you're not questioning your own death and resurrection? Should also note, this is developed by Zenimax Online Studios, not Bethesda directly. Also funny the timing of this post considering how news came out today that the loremaster for all main Bethesda games left back in 2023 and we somehow just found out. If you had hope for lore inconsistencies being a thing of the past, well...I doubt ES6 will make you feel any better.

i wouldn't think it would be impossible to sail across. there are also portals. they come up very often in quests.

i personally never saw the banners in high isle as strictly daggerfall covenant... more breton. high isle is full of bretons. i guess the bigger problem here is that the daggerfall covenant banner only represents the bretons and doesn't really have much to do with orcs or redguards. but the same could be said for the others, too. the aldmeri dominion banners mostly just represent the high elves and the ebonheart pact banner is pretty much all nord. i guess you could argue that it's a dragon. so there's scales. and argonians have scales >.> but that's a bit of a reach. and no, you would not send your queen into your enemies' territory, but high isle was set up to be a neutral ground specifically for that purpose. it's also not like these queens and kings and other rulers in this world are fragile little things that have never seen combat and must be protected like glass

These are actually very small examples, most of it due to being such a large game with massive scope and being a one size fit all approach because its an mmo. Big reason why I was against an mmo for tes in the first place along with the inevitable delay for elder scrolls main title games. 14 years and counting still no tes 6

That said, you always had to have suspension of disbelief when playing bethesda games, you're just seeing more of it because of the nature of an mmo plus this being a game continuing over ten years.

How I've always dealt with a lot of whats mentioned with alliance jank is my character is a mercenary rather than die hard ebonheart pact member. The Nords I know wouldn't be best buddies with Dunmer and especially Argonians anyway, a united Skyrim has enough strength to smack around anyone that impedes on Skyrim, they even took land around them and started the first empire (that book about the god of luck Sai blessing them is Bretony slander ._. and outdated Daggerfall rubbish lore) and they wouldn't care who took over the Imperial City and by extension Cyrodiil enough to be in a huge war over it aside from Molag Bal himself.

But Jorunn is the man so I let it slide.

I've never finished another factions main quest though to this date, not Daggerfall Covenants or Aldmeri Dominions. Not even with Caldwell's quest. Its a roleplaying game, just because you can do a thing doesn't mean you have to.
