Deconstructing Furniture

Has there been any thoughts on being able to deconstruct furniture?
It would also help with all the extra furniture decorators have stored.
The 500 slot vault is nice but that is just 1/5 of my furniture.
With all the new extra slots I'm more than likely to take all the furniture I have in them and store it as I have whole new themes to work on

Whilst I am not adverse to furniture decon, for me I have some issues......

Here I am talking about crafted furniture, which tbh is the most likely to be included in a decon situation.

Each piece of furniture is made from multiple materials, if there's one thing we already know from the gear/weapon decon currently available is the returns are pretty poor!

I personally would not use a furniture decon system that returned minimal furnishing mats, especially the more expensive style mat.......

    I'd rather store it! :)
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

But you wouldn't be forced to engage in the furniture decon system if you didn't want to. You could still simply... store your furniture, as you do now.

And those of us who would like a furniture decon system could engage in it.

I am not sure what the issue is?

I would happily deconstruct furnishings even for a fraction of the mats back.

If I were being completely honest.. Most of the crafted furnishings that end up in my bank/vault, no matter how genuine the intent to reuse them at some point, go there to die. Some manage to escape and make it out into a new build, but a large portion don't.

I wouldn't mind getting some of those style materials back. Not to mention the furnishing mats. That's a trade-off if be willing to accept. Knowing that if I wind up crafting them again, I'd at least recovered some of the mats

The ability to deconstruct crafted furniture for mats would be huge for housing! It's honestly one of my top wish list ideas for QOL improvements specific for crafting and housing in genera. I find the "preview placement" tool in the housing editor to be very clunky and it often doesn't help me make a decision between different pieces. Being able to craft options to try without wasting mats would be extremely helpful.

Another QOL improvement I would love to see would be the ability to gain furnishing mats from survey reports. Even if the drop rate was less than harvesting overland nodes, it would make doing surveys much more valuable.

@ZOS_GinaBruno Is there any chance these features will be considered?

To piggyback on this, I would like to see a furniture crafting table. A "one stop shop" for all furniture, instead of jumping from table to table to try to find which one crafts a specific light, for example. Plus a search function. Ex. Clockwork, argonian, orc,...
The decon function at the table as well.

I agree with @freespirit 's sentiment in that deconstruction for Housing items should be a lot kinder in its mat returns; many are too expensive.

OTOH, some items sink down to below Craft-Cost on traders and aren't even worth selling. Sometimes it's due to those items very old and common, or given away for free. (Like the High Isle stuff in Tomes right now: all of the books and bookshelves are being sold at way below Craft Cost due to the surplus. Some items, like the Alinor wisteria windowboxes, never really recover.) Sometimes it's just because folks sell things without knowing the costs. For those who don't know: Even selling at-cost drags prices down for everyone, and you're selling at a loss due to the irrecoverable listing fee, vs just selling the mats directly. Addons Master Merchant and Hearth Home Filter will show you craft cost in tooltips.

So for all of that stuff that's not worth selling, I'd happily decon some if the returns were good.

And agree with @Jhinaria, even though it would lower the price of furniture mats for those who sell them, it would actually prompt me to do surveys that are otherwise unattractive. You can tell by the prices that nobody really wants Unidentified Enchanting, Woodworking or Blacksmith surveys... but imagine if they contained furnishing mats!

I'll mostly agree with the OP on this. There are a few furnishings that I'll hang onto because they are rare enough (or pricey enough) that disposing of them isn't an attractive solution. But I've got so many event furnishings that I will never use that I'd decon them even if it only returned a pittance of mats. For the most part, however, I won't make it if I don't have a use for it. But once something better comes along, being able to decon it is preferable to destruction.
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.
