Molten Armaments is Replacing Weapon Styles - Please Reconsider

Title is long, sorry about that, I was trying to condense it.

However, after checking out the PTS yesterday, I've come to realize that the Dragonknight skills Molten Armaments (and it's morphs) have set weapon styles for the original user (thankfully not allies affected), hiding our cosmetics that we paid for.

I implore staff to reconsider this change. It's not subtle either, they're big bulky molten lava weapons, they're not the worst but if you wanted a specific weapon style for your character, but also wanted to use this skill? Well, you're out of luck as it currently stands. Your weapons must be these specific bulky flashy magma sticks.

This is bad for cosmetic sales, immersion, and character identity. I spend a LOT of time searching for the perfect weapons and outfit style pieces, and while skills overlay them with effects, nothing ever truly outright replaces them (save for things like transformations) until now.

Please consider changing it to something more accommodating of weapon styles instead of overwriting them.

i'm not sure i agree with the last line but I do agree it isn't good. the 2 handers are bulky monstrosities. I would prefer it kept our weapons appearance. the spiked armor and molten armaments are really the only complaints I have. the class plays great.

... but if your character wasn't themed around lava/orange/fire/dragon and a DK hits you with this skill, well then... yeah.

Someone else using the skill doesn't affect your weapon, it only affects the person who cast the skill. Casting it by another player makes their weapon burst with lava briefly but otherwise look the same for both you and the other person. This is accurate for both morphs.

What are they doing? I don't want my weapons changed to look like some anime style garbage. What is wrong with just keeping current style of skills? I'm liking what I see with the overall changes to the game, but I play DK 98% of the time, they're really pushing the game away from me with just these changes to my class.

That's good to know, but still sucks for anyone using the skill then. It shouldn't take over your ENTIRE weapon style.

I will however update the original post about this for accuracy sake.

i thought how it looked for staves if fine though.

Looking at molten weapons...I think if they were scaled down on them a little maybe? Can definately see why a lot of folk wouldn't like the look especially considering if you want a certainl look for your character

This is the train of thought that got Bound Armor's original appearance removed from the game, which was a big sad for me

It'd be cool if they simultaneously released a skill style that removed the "bound weapon" aesthetic so the existing new animation can be preserved
Add a Scribing skill that works like Arcanist beam.
    ---
Veteran players have been alienated and disengaged from Overland since One Tamriel, due to the lack of difficulty, and pushed into dungeons and trials; the minority of content in the Elder Scrolls Online. We can't take the repetition anymore, fix Overland engagement for Vet players. I don't even care if it's not combat related anymore, just make Overland engaging again.
    ---
Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 10 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. Make a self debuff mythic. Literally anything at this point.

I think it should add a new effect the way Tome-Bearer's Inspiration does: it doesn't change your weapon model, but instead adds maybe... flames and lava to the weapon?

Yeah I'm torn on this, because I generally don't like anything that obscures/changes my style, but those Molten Weapons look cool as frell.

Old lava and flame texture could just get an upscale and call it a day. It already looked quite fine on its own, albeit dem pixelz yo.

I, for one, enjoy the change.

The old Molten texture that was applied to weapons was irredeemably ugly and ruined the aesthetics of a character far more than this new iteration.

If the skill must alter the appearance of weapons then I much prefer the new option to the old.

I really didn’t like the old effect, partially because it DOES change everyone’s weapons and mess with my character aesthetic. The new one I quite like, so long as it continues to only change the weapon of the user. I can see why not everyone likes the new one though.

The new visuals are too much imo. I'd prefer if they were to simply have something closer to the original molten armaments animation that they had before it was downgraded for "cyrodiil performance" reasons.

In fact, you can still see original molten armaments effect on live but only with greatswords; I guess they forgot about it and simply left it as is for years.

I am very much against any skill being more than a simple effect or a small addon

I hate hurricane from sorc and (old) dragon blood for making my character see through in the same way I dislike this skill for replacing the weapon style

New visual looks a million times better than the old one. That said, I don't like having my weapon models replaced. Wouldn't this hurt their cosmetics sales, at least with DK mains?

If they want the visual so bad make it a 2 part effect.
Part 1: When you cast the skill your weapon changes briefly to the new model.
Part 2: Your equipped weapon flashes back to a darker (less vibrant) version of the new model signaling the end of the buff.

It very much would for me.
I'm kind of shocked to see so few people caring about this? When the devs repeatedly sell Arms Packs and stuff? Like, I am truly baffled. Not trying to start a fight or anything, it just feels like the cosmetic focus of the community may have drifted away or something, and that's a shame to see.

I like the way they look. If I had a character whose "character fantasy" went well with the new Molten Armaments look, that'd be awesome.

But I don't have a character whose character fantasy goes with this look. I do have characters for whom I have chosen very specific weapons, and I would like to use this skills on those characters, but I don't think I will if this visual overwrites my chosen weapon appearance.

Please at least have an option to not have this skill replace our weapon's appearance.

I agree, it looks cool at first glance, but I want to care about my weapon motifs. This is the same issue Grim Focus and the red glow caused that people generally hated. At the very least, make it a skill style option with the base ability providing flames sprouting from your hands or something like that.

Notice how no one has ever complained about Critical Surge? It just adds lightning to your hands, very cool, non intrusive. I was hoping this ability rework would do a similar thing.
