What are you using to proc your weapon enchants? Are you weaving or using weapon skills? If you're using weapon skills, which ones? Also, do you have charged as a weapon trait?

You can learn more about status effects in the help menu under status effects. At the bottom is the % chance of status effects applying. It's the only section of the help menu I use.

Here’s a list of status‑effect proc chances. Serpent’s Disdain does not increase these values it only extends the duration of status effects. The Charged trait on your weapon is what increases the chance to apply them.

    20% - Weapon enchants
    20% - Poisons
10% - Single Target Direct Damage
5% - Area of Effect Direct Damage
3% - Single Target Damage over Time
1% - Area of Effect Damage over Time
0% - Light and Heavy Attacks

For example, if you hit an enemy with DK Whip, it has a 10% chance to apply Burning. If you’re using a two‑handed weapon with the Charged trait (220%), then 220% of 10% is 22%, and adding that to the original 10% gives you a total Burning chance of 32%.

Weapon enchants have a 20% chance to apply a status effect, so if your overall status‑effect chance is low, only the initial damage will occur and the status effect won’t be applied.

Just to add, only Light/Heavy attacks, direct damage weapon skills, and ground-targeted weapon skill AoEs can proc enchants.

    Ground AoEs:
    Wall of Elements (Destro Staff)
    Volley (Bow)
    Stampede (2H)
Bladecloak (Dual-Wield) - not technically as ground AoE, but is treated as one by the game.

These 4 are technically AoE DoTs, but are special cases because they are ground-targeted rather than enemy-targeted.

With other weapon skills it has to have a direct damage component. For example: Rending Slashes or Carve - the initial hit is direct damage and can proc the enchant, but the bleed is a DoT and so doesn't proc them.
