PTS Update 49 - Feedback Thread for Gold Coast Bazaar

ZOS_Kevin

Community Manager
This is the official feedback thread for the Gold Coast Bazaar. The Gold Coast Bazaar is our new gameplay currency-driven store. Located in the Crown Store UI as its own dedicated tab, this new store is home to mounts, pets, outfits, and even gameplay items. If you would like more information about the Gold Coast Bazaar, please read our article here. If you find any bugs or unintended functions of the Gold Coast Bazaar, please put in a bug report here.

Specific feedback that the team is looking for includes the following:
  • Was the Gold Coast Bazaar easy to find?
  • Were you able to purchase anything on the Gold Coast Bazaar using Trade Bars?
  • Did you go to the Seasonal section of the Bazaar? If so, were you able to navigate the section without issue?
  • Did you go to the Gold Coast Wares section of the Bazaar? If so, were you able to navigate the section without issue?
  • Any other feedback about the Gold Coast Bazaar?

from the pictures shared last week,
i was hoping there would also be an in-game location for the Gold Coast Bazaar, as its pictures appear to place it at the Gold Coast Trading Company building in Anvil.
    vr0vokz4kurn.jpg
    k4x47c34z8l3.jpg

would be fun to see that bazaar from the above picture in the future.
Could be similar to Belkarth Festival Grounds in Craglorn and have the Luxury Furnisher, indrik merchant, and impressario.

    Edited To Add
i do love what the Gold Coast Bazaar is!
Very excited to finally get the Dragon's Treasure Trove. And Trade Bars are way better than Event Tickets.

My first thought was to go on the world map and check in the Gold Coast zone if there was new "Gold Coast Bazaar" icon on the map, in Anvil. I also didn't see a new tab at the top of the menu, besides the locked "Tamriel Tomes". So I went to the patch note to see if it was added today on PTS, that's where I read it was a new menu inside the Crown Store.

I think it the Gold Coast Bazaar should have its own icon on the left of the Tamriel Tome, or maybe group the Bazaar with the Seals for an "in-game earnables" menu, then the Crown Store and Crown Crates together for a "paid content menu".

I think I was mislead by the name "Gold Coast" and the picture like shown in the post above, showing a coffer with Anvil in the background, thinking it was an NPC vendor or new market area in the Gold Coast zone.

Hey Kevin, any chance this bazaar can become a in-game location? If performance issues are a concern, any chance it can become a separate pocket dimension resembling the Gold Coast? The Gold Coast trading company has to keep their things somewhere, and the fact that an entire mount can spring out of a crown crate indicates they have some technology to make that happen. Would also be a good place to preview items out in the world.

    Great addition to the game.

Please add trade bar(s) to weekly leaderboard rewards since it makes sense to tie that system into this new gameplay reward system. It will help reinvigorate leaderboard runs.

It would be awesome to see an in-game representation of this where you could visit in person or via the UI if preferred. The in-game version could have on display certain high-value rewards, similar to the indriks being shown at the event vendor in the past and the mount shown on today's stream. I can see it being a big deal when a new reward is released and available to see in the in-game store. Window shopping.

Just to "+1" what other people have said, I was sorta bummed to find out that this is just simply a tab in the Crown Store. Being that we have access to the Gold Coast, I was really hoping a bazaar area either in Kvatch (ideally) or Anvil was going to pop up. It'd make those zones more lively, which are beautiful zones, and also just seeing players around & interacting with the Bazaar is pretty cool.

I kinda fashioned this system to be similar to the Trading Post in World of Warcraft, which has physical locations all over major cities; however, being that this is the "Gold Coast" Bazaar, I figured we were getting a number of stalls there or something. Definitely something I think the team should think about given that we don't have a new zone to add. Don't know how much work goes into adding assets like this though. Maybe for U50 it could be a physical location?

This needs to be a physical location in Gold Coast. C’mon, please don’t drop the ball here. Much like Belkarth became my go-to location during events to visit the Impresario and the indrik vendor. The opportunity to create a new shop area for people to visit any time is way too good to pass up.

Like others in the replies here, I was under the impression the Bazar would be an in-game location with a vendor like the impresario. Given it's called the Gold Cost Bazar, I think it would make sense if it were a Bazar in the Gold Coast.

Not only would it make more sense given its name, but it would also, as a side effect, become a social hub for players to idle at, much like the crafting areas in Vivec or the wayshrine in Rimmen, for example, are. More places in game where players will naturally congregate and socialize at are always a good thing.

I think a good spot for this would be the Anvil Docks. They're kinda empty and boring, just a bunch of empty warehouses where the guild traders are. If I was designing it, I'd move all the traders into one of the warehouses rather than having them all spread apart (player convenience, consolidating space) and stretching the new Gold Coast Bazar across the docks. Lots of decorations, lively colors, merchants, NPCs, etc. like the promotional artwork for it had suggested.

Personally, I'd always make this my spot to log out after I'm done for the day, and I think others would too.

Not particularly bummed or enthused about the Bazaar. Having read the patch notes first, I knew it was a tab in the Crown Store menu (an actual bazaar in Gold Coast would have been cool, though).

First thing I noted was that the game froze and crashed when I opened the Seasonal offerings. Restarted, recovered, rechecked, relogged, and was able to flip through the Seasonal and "permanent" listings on the second attempt. Major problem with a lot of the "permanent" stuff was that I already owned it and couldn't purchase because of that. I'll pick up one of the seasonal offerings later and let you know if there is a problem, but I don't anticipate there being one (700 Trade Bars showing and stuff costs 1).
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

Seconded about an in world location! I liked the interactability of the Impresario, so having that make a comeback with some vendors who sell various goods at a physical bazaar location would be awesome (could have a vendor which corresponds with each tab in the menu)

I like trade bars better than event tickets. Being able to purchase various items worked well. I just felt like it cluttered the crown store a bit, and the icon was a bit hard to see and it might be difficult for a newer player to figure out what they are supposed to do with their trade bars.

I would like to see trade bars incorporated into more rewards, like someone said weekly leaderboards. Pledges + daily dungeons would also be a great place to add them, since it would incentivize people to run pledges more often.

I'm excited for the bazaar and it's functionality but like so many above I was excited and hoping for an in game location like the Impressario had but fixed to Gold Coast. I know some people disagree but part of why I like treasure maps and surveys and things like that are they get me out in the world enjoying the scenery and not just semi-afk in town surfing through menus. Like suggested above you could keep the menu for those who want to stay in town or are in a rush but also give a location for people who want to explore and have a more immersive experience perhaps?

Hey @LunaFlora the team has seen your post here and wanted you to know that while they can't promise anything, they are interested in updating the Anvil area at some point to include a "real-world" version of the Bazaar there.

Putting the Bazaar in the Crown Store helped make it easy to find for all players who don't necessarily want to explore the world to find a vendor. We hear the feedback on wanting this to be a real world thing though and thank you for the suggestion!

Exciting! I was disappointed to read that it's only a digital storefront. I figure there's an npc for the golden and for the luxury, and Gold Coast is coming to the base game, so honestly an npc for this store wouldn't seem out of place.

Putting this market in this rather empty Anvil square would be wonderful!

However, I doubt that would have been allowed under Fortunata.

A slight update to the city authorities (guards) and perhaps restoring Ephrem Benirus or someone else would be welcome? (Although, to a lesser extent, I suspect there's a need to maintain the status quo, as it would be strange to see these changes from the perspective of a player who's still at the beginning of DB Story).

Great news that the team is looking to possibly add a physical location!

Feedback I would offer about it being both a location and a menu is that most players would simply use the menu, and most of the value and utility of the physical location would be lost. In games that have both a menu and location, GW2, Destiny 2, for example, the physical location remains mostly unused.

In my opinion, I think the physical location would, like I mentioned in my previous comment, add more utility to the game than simply the feature itself, and would become a social hub as a side-effect. ESO is lacking a singular social hub where most players congregate, and so the hubs (Vivec and Rimmen, as previous examples) are disparate and disconnected. Not to mention how housing (which is a great feature, don't get me wrong) has further exacerbated this player atomization problem.

An exclusively physical location for the feature would not be unprecedented, as both the Golden vendor and the Luxury Furniture vendor are specific places one has to travel to to access their rotational assortment of items, as well as the obvious example of the impresario, though she is in every major city rather than a single location (and as a result is not a player hub because she suffers from the same atomization issue).

I would think of this Bazaar in the same way event hubs focus players to a single spot, namely the New Life Festival. Dozens of players are all congregated around Breda's tent, which gives players more chances to interact organically in the world, showing off their outfits, their mounts, mementos and emotes, having conversations, and testing their builds in duels.

Back at Launch, there were only three main places players would congregate, per their alliance. Taking the DC as an example, Evermore (level 50 zone city), Wayrest (the Undaunted enclave), and the DC Cyrodiil gates (for PvP players). This funneled and focused players into a spot where social interaction could flourish.

Since then, as more and zones have come out with more and more hub cities, players are spread farther and farther apart, preferring to log out or hang out in their favorite of the one of dozens of cities. I think this Bazaar could recreate what has since been lost. If left as a simple menu, we would all miss out on this opportunity to build a stronger and more social in-game ESO community.
