the arguments to not allow players to get Dragon's Treasure Trove are always so nonsensical to me.

    Seriously? just because someone was
    - not playing in 2019
    - missed the event
    - or was not able to purchase the Elsweyr chapter before or during the event and log in for a minute to claim the event rewards?
Like that is it. No money or no time, out of your control and yet this must mean you should not have a specific furnishing.

    Agree.

By now I've seen the Trove across dozens of houses. It's not interesting for me to just plop one down and go "Whoopee, I got the shiny too! I'm in the cool club!" Who'd care anyway? Most players would never see it. Nobody's won a housing contest just for placing an item (moreover, that thousands of other players already have).

Rather, I'd wager that many of us who missed the Treasure Trove etc. are excited to finally use them in our builds. That's where uniqueness lies: the ways in which individuals express their creative ideas. The skill in the execution is even more important than the idea or ingredients. And right now there are a ton of highly-skilled "chefs" in Housing who'd do inspiring things with this "saffron", ultimately enriching our whole community.

So I think it's a shame that some want to gatekeep what's essentially just a tool or ingredient. Like Kapoor with Vantablack, or the Momofuku guy who tried to trademark chili crisp – didn't work out for them either.

I agree with all who are glad that newer players will be able to access past free/reward content.

The idea that one uses these items to somehow show you are ‘better’ or whatever than other players is quite ridiculous.

This is a game. Something to be played to have fun, enjoy yourself and be entertaining.

Yes, I know there are certain rewards for those who complete certain content, but I’m not referring to that.)

Yes, that's the thing. There's plenty of rewards for actually doing things that people can show off and be proud of. Just playing for longer and picking up things that were practically given away for turning up should be among them

I stopped to play ESO because it simply became bad, with repetitive content every years it was not interesting at all.

I was interested to return with the seasons, because it's free at least and give some collectibles if we play, but then I saw their new "Gold Coast Market" where we can buy old time limited (collector) items. Really? So the uniques things we get for playing during a special moment are not uniques anymore?

Personally I missed a lot of things the past year (almost everything I suppose) and I am totally fine with it because I didn't play, so that's normal. And I didn't play the first years of ESO, it would be totally normal if I didn't have the chance to have the items who were available back then, because I was not here.

I am disappointed knowing players will be able to get old items, that's what made our accounts uniques and tell its story

So not even sure I'm interested in theses seasons things now if the things we get there are not uniques and will come back later, just like the old collectibles...

By trying to satisfy everybody they just satisfy nobody in the end. And that's exactly why the game slowly die since years

I've been playing since 2014 and what made the game special for me is the experiences with friends and guildies, not some random item lol. If a buddy of mine trying the game for the first time is able to earn an older collector's item through playing the game and it makes them happy, then heck yea man.

Idk, i just think this mentality of limited time & FOMO stinks for any game. This feels like they're moving away from that, which sounds good to me.

Yes, every single "unique / limited collectible" should be available for all players to get.

I have tons of old stuff and collectibles and I would rejoice to see others can get them too.

People who want them to remain out of reach for reasons of "showing off" or "retaining account value" need to touch grass.

    100%

Very weird take by some. I understand a trifecta mount in PvE, but like an event mount from several years ago or collectible or whatever? Crazy that some people feel the need to guard this at all, let alone to the point of wanting to leave the game. Bizarre.

Comparing the trove to vantablack is genius. Yeah, sure, they could’ve just made a plain coin pile, and I hope they do as a traditional furnishing! But really, are you inviting people to your house to flex your furnishing that people want or is it simply the joy of having what others don’t have, others who would make great use of it?

Mine’s just sitting in the corner. In multiple houses.

People have been asking for returning of the dragon trove for many years, so devs have listened.

IMHO this market is a great idea. Less fomo, more ingame rewards, more goals to achieve, no "ticket" cap, also trade bars wount be available to purchase for crowns.

I don't mind others getting rewards that I have. If someone is happy with an ingame furnishing, why not allow him to be.

I do agree that some things should stay unobtainable like the beta monkey and anniversary tortes. But I just dont feel like the trove is one of those things.

To the best of my knowledge, they've never said time limited items are exclusive and will never return, with the exception of the original subscriber rewards (and maybe the chapter preorder mounts - I have an feeling they said they were but don't remember specifically. Either way they've never been available seperately). It's been 11 years and things like the ice wraith and tiger mount have never been available on console so it's fair to say they're keeping that promise (tho I personally think it's probably been long enough to satisfy that).
    .

You know someone's an old player when they ride by you on their tiger mount :D. I love mine and hope they stick to their promise of it remaining unique to year 1 players.

when i see someone on the Striped Senche Tiger, i just see a mount i cannot ever obtain and well someone riding a cat.
it is not impressive that they were able to pay for ESO Plus more than a decade ago.

Plus, i hardly see it anyways. Most people like newer mounts more as they look better or because they dislike Senche mounts.

    edited to add:
it is not fun telling people who ask about your collectible that it has not been available since its release and may never return.

most players are unlikely to know what the Striped Senche Tiger is unless they ask or read about it. it is simply a cat mount, which looks old.

It had nothing to do with eso plus. Eso plus didn't exist when those of us who supported the game early got our tigers. :) It was for playing the first 10 months out of about 12. It was for supporting the game early on. You hardly see them because they're rare.

It has a mystique to it among older players, so it's cool. Part of that is that, yes, it is a rare item that can no longer be obtained, like the bristle gut piglet. These are way cooler than any flashy crown gem mount. More people know what it is than you think, or ask about it in a whisper. It's rarer than the beta monkey which was given out to everyone who attended a stress test one night, and everyone who was in the closed beta itself. I have both. :)

I have missed out on a lot of things due to playing intermittently due to rl and health issues. I think it's cool when I see something I can't get anymore, and have no ill thoughts toward them.

Exploits suck. Don't blame just the game, blame the players abusing them!

Hmm, not sure that I really find participation trophies all that mysterious: right time, right place, with time to actually play the game. But I certainly understand how they act as more interactive historical markers for an account.

But I also understand if there are no similar variants that can be used to allow access to access to the type of pattern/animal it can feel less like a historical marker, and more like gatekeeping.

Wonder if they could "re"-release versions with better audio and visuals/designs. No doubt those pets and mounts are showing their age in design, and this would allow players access to the animal type/pattern while still having the older model available to the "veterans" to showcase their history with the game.,

I've got a lot of these kinds of collectibles. But they aren't what tell the story of my account. The memories I made playing the game tell it's story, as do the characters and the experiences I've had with them. The collectibles are all just "stuff", most of which is collecting proverbial dust since I don't wear/use half of it. It might mark it's age, but age alone doesn't determine it's value to me.

I like the thought that a system is being put in place where people who might want these things, can have them, and that they'll get use beyond being tucked away on the accounts of long-time players. Making people happy benefits the game in the long run, much more so than any "bragging rights" these items might carry with them.
