Confusion after watching the dev interview for season zero

They didn't really answer the question is do you need past chapters there's stuff saying that everything's coming with Game Pass or if you already own the game but then they make comments about certain DLC being rolled into the base game so my question is.

Do you still need to buy the pass chapters to gain access to such as classes like The Necromancer and you need to buy the dungeon updates for those past chapters to get access to them or are they all going to be rolled into this new season system?

I haven't played since Somerset so I was really intrigued to be able to jump back in without having to get all the past chapters but they weren't very clear on that.

Yes, you still need to buy some Chapters or DLCs (or subscribe for them) to get access to them. But they’re making more of the former content that was once buy to play free for everyone. Which ones exactly was said in the interview.

Okay so if you get the 2025 season pass that has all the past DLC that should be just a one-time purchase for all content that the games came out with and all future content will just be rolled into the seasons that will be free?

Classes: No, classes are sold independently in the crown store. They become detached from chapters when the chapter enters the crown store. No news on if they will become base-game.

Dungeons: No news on if dungeon DLCs will become base-game. This will be interesting with the MoS + MHK solo modes to see if they will make Wolfhunter base game, if the solo modes will be base game, or if you will have to have the Wolfhunter DLC to use the solo modes.

Chapters: They're adding Orisinium, Thieves Guild, and Dark Brotherhood to base game in Q1. Greymoor later in the year. Morrowind was made base-game in 2022. It doesn't seem that they're rolling chapters into base-game in order as Summerset, Clockwork City, and Elsweyr came before Greymoor.

I suspect Greymoor will be relevant to the Skyrim things happening in Season 2 so it's jumped the queue a bit!

Not all DLC, just former chapters. Small zones and dungeons still need buying or a sub to play.

Okay so they need to kind of come out and clarify what is and isn't coming with the season's zero as far as what you need to pay for still and what's coming with it.

They have. Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, Orsinium and Imperial City (tho that was free anyway) will become base game. Everything else will be the same. You don't need to pay for anything new but it's not a golden ticket to get everything else

Yes. All of the stuff they showcased are things moving forward. It seems like eventually they'll bring pretty much all DLCs & chapters prior to this new model to the base game as free content being that we're getting orsinium/thieves guild/DB/summerset and then greymoor later this year. Probably by the end of next year most stuff would be free? Dunno though.

So like I said if you get the 2025 Premium Edition that has all the missing chapters that I don't have and it should come with all the classes I should be up to date for all future content correct? Also do the dungeons now come with the chapters cuz before they would be split which always annoyed the hell out of me.

It definitely comes with Necros and Arcanists. I'm not sure if Wardens are included because Vvardenfell is base game now and they're a seperate purchase so dont know if they're included in the content pass or not. I can check tho, I got it when it was on sale

    EDIT: Yes, Warden is included

The 2025 Premium Edition will give you access to all of the previous chapters and the 2025 dungeons. Older dungeons are still separate purchases. You'll have access to every major feature except Clockwork City's transmute station. But, you can get access to the transmute station from the craftable version anyway.

Correction on classes. Classes are technically detached and technically not detached to their chapters.

Example. Say I last played with the release of summerset like op indicated. If i bought the 2025 premium edition it would come with ALL chapter DLCs, classes and skills that are tied to them.

What it wont include are smaller dlcs like the reach, southern elyswyr and dlc dungeons.

Its reall confusing and zos ahould just release a version that basically has ALL chapters and DLCs in it to keep it simple.

2025 Content Pass comes with former chapters and their classes/systems, but not with minor DLCs. So no older DLC dungeons and no Clockwork City, Reach, Southern Elsweyr, Murkmire, Deadlands/Fargrave, Galen.

You can buy those with crowns or subscribe for access.

Clockwork City wasn't a chapter but a small zone DLC.

If you get the Premium Edition, you'll get the following content alongside a few cosmetics.
    • Solstice
    • Fallen Banners (Exiled Redoubt and Lep Seclusa dungeons)
    • Feast of Shadows (Naj-Caldeesh and Black Gem Foundry dungeons)
    • Gold Road
    • Necrom
    • High Isle
    • Blackwood
    • Greymoor
    • Elsweyr
    • Summerset
    • Morrowind
    • Base Game

    ETA

Since these are all the chapter versions of those old large zones, you'll get all of the associated chapter features as well. So, you'll get the respective classes and companions.

If you check the store you can see a specific breakdown of what you get with the 2025 Premium Edition.

Everything that came with the chapter's offered is included.

The four dungeons from 2025 are included.

Previous dungeons ie pre 2025 are not included neither are the smaller q4 zones such as Southern Elsweyr or Galen as examples.

For access to those you still need a sub which includes all of them or to buy them individually with crowns. :)

Huh. Good to know. When I moved from PC to PS, I bought a package deal (during Q4 of Necrom) that included everything, all of it. So I guess I just assumed the 2025 premium content pass was the current year's equivalent.
