The Add-on Map Pins shows the locations of the Treasure maps you have in your inventory along with lots of other handy things that you can select to show or not, and has been updated for ConsolesSi vis pacem, para bellum1 -

I actually did this for all of the original CE maps in 2014! It was fun. Same with crafting surveys when they were introduced. The kids today who complain that they have to harvest them would be aghast if they had to do that!
I wouldn't prefer the change suggested by the OP even though I don't always identify the mound right away. Maybe they can add a skill somewhere that does it though, like we have for resources and treasure chests.
