In theory, a person with more stars would have earned them through useful posts, and would be more inclined to reflect that reputation.
In practice, people get a lot of points for posting utter rubbish and insults, so no the stars don't serve much purpose.
If they got rid of the LOL button I think it would be a more useful system at any rate. LOL is currently used as the disagree button a lot of the time, and also rewards trolling people for laughs.

Have to agree on the LOL point.. I'm actually glad mine is low because of the way it's used on the forum right now. I only care about my points on forums in general if it actually means something; right now I don't think points/stars mean anything, unfortunately.

Actually, someone mentioned in another thread that LOL doesn't actually add to your point total. I checked my points and confirmed. So it turns out that being funny isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Being on the forum that gives points to users for doing cool things or being me, does it matter to you what your fake internetz points total is?In theory, a person with more stars would have earned them through useful posts, and would be more inclined to reflect that reputation.

Seriously guys. Check your point totals. LOL isn't factored in.
