I should've put that in quotes. By "forcing" I meant creating FOMO situation.
Every year, we get some themed cosmetics you can unlock with Event Ticket. You don't know how much tickets you'll be able to earn over the year. You can be sure you can earn at least enough to unlock everything. But what if you miss an event for whatever reason (in the future, or you already missed one)? This creates fear of missing out. So you want to get your tickets from any event that comes. bB it dungeon-themed, PvP, daily-quest-based, etc. even if you don't enjoy those events

I never do any PvP events. I only do a bit of the dungeon events since soloing most dungeons takes too much time I rather spend on other things and doing the extremely easy ones that take less than 5 minutes gets dull fast because it's always the same ones. Still, I never know what to do with the masses of tickets I have left during the New Life event. It's very easy to skip several events a year and still get every event collectible.

Do I like the principle of event vouchers? No. I generally dislike limited-time content. But it's really not like one misses a super important one time thing if one misses one event day. If players feel panic about that, it's self-induced.

Also, while we’re at it, let’s just get rid of the fragment system. Give us a meta achievement for the event and give us the mount or house or whatever for doing that. The fragment stuff with the pet is so dumb IMO

Also, just get rid of event tickets and give items for doing stuff. Giving the option to just buy event tickets in the store is so dumb. Just another avenue of monetization

You dont have to take part. Its completely optional. And while new content is always good. Theres a lot of players who dont have max cp. They have low level characters to level. And genuinely enjoy the content and the rewards.

Overall there is no real reason to do them. ...

This is where there's a disconnect, I think, between people who play the game for stories and questing and exploration, and those who play for shinies (not that it can't be for both, mind you). Between those who do an activity because they enjoy it, and those who need the carrot to do anything, because if there isn't a carrot, it's meaningless.

I enjoy questing, so it doesn't matter to me that there isn't an achievement or shiny or whatever associated with every single quest in the game. For me, it's just fun to have another quest to do that I haven't done before, to hear some new voice acting (sorry to non-English speakers - yeah, it sucks that they released it without translations), to do another silly errand. That's the reason for me.

Oh hey I totally get that! I did all of the quests yesterday and enjoyed some of them at least. But I still worry that it overall didn't add much to the event for many players... Even as someone who enjoyed some of the new quests just for the questing experience, I'm still not eager to keep repeating them for days for the same static dialogue and outcome. So it added like 20 minutes of content for a rather long event that was already super repetitive if you've done it in the past.

I know they had some limitations this year and like I said, I really do appreciate them trying to add *something*, but I hope they can innovate more in the future to keep these events relevant for longer term players.

Maybe something that will help in the future is the overland difficulty revamp; I mean obviously event quests should be very accessible to new and casual players, but it would be also nice to have an optional challenge for more advanced players who are seeking that (like how they added the event "bosses" for witches' fest). I guess for me at least, even though I do like to explore and quest, what keeps me coming back long-term is either a challenge and/or a new reward or accomplishment to work toward.

Like I said somewhere else, I'm only doing one new quest a day, and I won't be repeating any. So they won't be repetitive for me. I like that the New Life event is low pressure. The boxes don't give anything spectacular, so it's okay to just do a quest or two a day and that's it. Just the right pace for this time of year.

But I understand what you said, too. It's not only the New Life event that feels repetitive, but all of them. Events need a revamp - after everything else we all want! :)

I was in the middle of doing the New Life event when it flashed I had one enough to max out golden pursuits. I stopped in mid quest deleted all I had and stop doing event.

Getting one more useless gold reward from a writ that cost a fortune to complete was the end.

Just read off line that seasons were the way it was going to be from now on. This new was disheartening as I has hoped for something that would keep me in the game.

The writhing wall was such a disaster I cannot believe that is the way of the future. Didn't buy that, and won't sub again. Am in the process of giving away all I have in my account and craft bag for the gift exchange. One pleasure I have left here is giving someone a million gold when they least expect it.

I was day one player and always hoped I would last until the end. I lasted but the game hasn't.

Why gift anyone anything, really? They can buy things themselves, after all?

When I first received the quest I thought it would be someone elderly and housebound.

Showing appreciation for someone by making them food from my experience is a common thing whether the recipient is able bodied or not, whether the dish is complicated or not. Do you really find this concept that strange? I mean this genuinely not sassy, I feel like this question sounds very aggressive, but I don't mean it that way.

    Don't take it too seriously.

I would like to see some new gameplay during event quests (that dragon cave mission seems like it would have been a good opportunity for a festive stealth mission) but I can't complain about their tone. There's a lot of quests with a variety of tones.

And it's a festival. Ofc the villagers should be having fun at a holiday festival. It would come off edgy dark grim if they were like nothing fun or joyous happens on New Life.

Like I think if one is annoyed that the Christmas time event includes content that is merry and bright, then maybe they're just a bit burnt out on the game. Which is fine. It's natural to need breaks from games that you have played a long time.

There's really one thing I don't get: If one finds the new quests dull (or too boring if repeated too often) and also thinks the rewards aren't really worth it: Why do them that often then?

For the event tickets, one quest per day is enough. The event lasts 20 days (or 19 for some people, as the event on PC EU ends when it's just afternoon in many European countries, usually at a time that's too early to already be back home from work), and there are 8 new quests. Some of them even have at least 2 different versions. So to fill 16 event days, you only need to do each new event quest twice. And the last 3 or 4 days you can choose to do some older ones or some you especially liked. I really don't think that's too bad in terms of repetativeness.

I'm generally fairly critical of many aspects of game mechanics, but credit where it's due: An attempt was made to add several new quests that cover a gamut of play styles and time constraints. None of them are ground breaking or game changing, no. As mentioned above, one per day is necessary for the bare minimum of ticket acquisition. Anything else is something one opts into for their own reasons.

I quite like that the Nords are pleasant when the get hit with a snowball. A nice change from the normal grumpiness. Though ZOS really needs to make it possible to do the snowball and mud ball quests without changing to permit attacking innocents. I thought that the snowball one was working but the next day it wasn't.

Yes, nice they have more quests, but more rewards are much needed. Especially for older players. I don't need ANY of the items except for the new fish boon style. I can't even give away Skaal motifs.

Starting in 2026, one won’t have to morph a pet into anything else. There will probably still be fragments to collect, but at least you only have to collect the pet once and then never lose it. Instead, you will be collecting fragments for the item you want that quarter.

I don't. And I am willing to bet majority of veteran players don't. But this is the kind of thing only ZOS may have data for and doesn't share them.

This is actually the entire point of me opening this discussion: we have an ongoing event and there seems to be a lot of people who find it unexciting both from gameplay and rewards point of view. What's the point of having an event if all we do is log in for one quest a day for the tickets (and even the extra tickets are becoming useless to some of us)?

Also, the whole "you need to log in once a day to get maximum amount of tickets" needs to go away. This is extremely punishing to players who cannot be online every day. I am one of those who have logged in nearly 99.99% for the last few years, but this is far from being the case for everyone. Stop punishing people for not being able to log in daily!

I have a very different impression. Exciting? Not exactly. But a lot of people don't find exciting neccessary for a Christmas event.

I actually found the new quests to be quite entertaining, and the fact that some of them have new people you need to talk to complete means that there is some replayability there. So I've quite enjoyed them.

But yes, the rewards are a little lacking. I'm not particularly fond of the event motif, and I have everything else that can drop.

You know what would really make me grind these things? Purple Tri-pots, seals of endeavor, writ vouchers that I don't have to do anything to earn (the Imperial and Festival Writs are too costly in terms of materials just to do them on a whim). How about some unique, will-never-drop-again holiday-themed furniture pieces? Not blue prints - because then you can just get other people to make them. But some things that are just super unique and really WILL never be available again after this event - kind of like the intent was with the indriks...

Most events are. The structure is just tired. I’d much rather do away with fragments and tickets and just get rewards for achievements associated with the event.

Double xp is nice for new players and people wanting to grind alts, but that doesn’t differentiate this event from another. There just needs to be more novelty each year than there is. They just redid some quests which is cool, but everything else reward structure, achievements, etc is all the same

As I see it, it's not a punishment, it's a reward for those who plays everyday. While I can understand frustration of missing free bonuses, claiming that people who don't play should get all the stuff just as playing people just because otherwise they become upset, seems quite hypocritical. You play - you get your boons for it, simple logic and motivation.

I have now done all the new quests. As others have said. Credit where credit is due. Some of them are really neat. The bear one is a little sad, a couple are funny. The rewards are not good but I'll get enough event tickets to get the spider now that I have the house. The outfit is ugly but that's just my opinion. We can for sure have a discussion on how to make an event more rewarding, but the quests are a cool addition to an event that most of us who've been playing for years are probably a little burnt out on. More stuff like this for events.

I like events because they give me something different to do even if I have done the same event over and over and over. I appreciate the new quests and new additions they are making to the events. I would like to echo the sentiment to get rid of the whole ticket system though. It is a metric-driven way to eke out rewards that could just be earned by doing the events themselves.

Technically that is what Old Life is for. There is a repeatable quest to honor / send messages to the dead during the New Life event as well.

Both are true. If you are a vet, the quests are going to be dull and repetitive. But I still enjoy the New Life event. The decorations in the towns, the event tickets, the furniture giveaways, and even a motif I will probably never use.

I would also love to see limited time themed furnishings that I could buy with excess tickets. That would be a huge improvement.

This is the nature of gaming, though. You can never please everyone all the time

I actually enjoy this event more than the others because I can do the quests along with other players (fishing, dancing, etc.) without having to group up with them. It’s fun to see everyone running about while you are out, it just feels festive. I can do one quest if I’m busy and more if I have time. If I don’t need tickets, which is common because I keep up with the events all year, then I can skip them. There is a lot of excitement this time of year and most of it is stressful. I’m fine with the boring quests. This is another of those threads asking to change everything. It ain’t broke.

I enjoy this event because I can catch up if I need to and don't have to worry much about missing anything over Christmas time when I don't want to play or am spending time with family and friends because there are lots of tickets every day. I like the simple quests and that it's easy and fast to get daily tickets. It means I can just do that one quest and then go and do something else or I could do more event quests if I want because there is no pressure.

Agree with OP. Just said something similar on other thread:

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/8406581/#Comment_8406581

This game won't get any better if we keep applauding ZOS for everything. A few new quests is not enough. After the cr*ppy year we got and the price we paid for it, we should ask for something bigger and better.

I won't congratulate them for giving me the strict minimum for what I paid.
