Scroll Dunking

Stop allowing the scroll to be placed in unretrievable water. If the scroll gets dunked in water, then the cooldown should reset back to the alliance temple automatically to deter this stupid tactic.

I think the scroll should just teleport to the shore, nearest the point it was dunked. People dunk the scroll to safely teleport it back to their keep without running the entire way (if the scroll was taken from them) or to keep it out of the hands of their enemies when they're in a losing battle. Teleporting the scroll to the shore would prevent people from exploiting these mechanics.

Or, anyone who carries the scroll into the water (not knocked into the water by an enemy, to prevent griefing) could be marked KOS by every guard on their faction for being a traitor.

That’s a terrible idea. Under that plan, if AD fights DC to take Mnem from Glade, they can just dunk it immediately, and it’ll teleport back to Mnem temple on their turf where it’s literally supposed to go in the first place without having to run it at all.

The only problem with teleporting the scroll back to the shore is that I guarantee there will be trolls waiting on the shore to pick it up and dunk it again.

Honestly, the solution is to get rid of environmental hazards altogether. What purpose do the slaughterfish serve? What is the tactical reason for cutting off entire bodies of water? Would anyone care if there was no lava? Just get rid of all of it and let people pick up scrolls while swimming. Problem solved instantly.

For the most part, you can't "dunk" the scroll accidentally. There are some spots (near bridges) where it can be technically done by accident.

    But everywhere else - nope.

So, this is how I see it:
If scroll lands in water near bridge - then after a couple of seconds it gets teleported back on the bridge.

If it is dropped in water anywhere else - then carrier & the one who killed the carrier gets 5 minutes ban. Simple.

I mean don't look at me like that. In every serious PvP game, there are a lot of save-guards placed so people would not expliot stuff. ESO PvP on the other hands shows a very disturbing approach. Complete lack of "in-game" moderation and explit prevention . So no wonder people quit PvP. At this point it is more like a sand-box PvP rather that 3 - giant team match that lasts 1 month.

If you ask me, I will say the entire Scroll subgame needs an overhaul.

One, let us choose which scroll quest we want from a list based on availability (what scrolls are possible to take at the time).

Two, once removed from the temple pedestal, make idle scrolls 'pullable'. In other words, DK Chains, uhhh Crossbow Morph, etc, can pull the scroll towards the player. This would make this change simple and easy. It would encourage groups to participate and to be inclusive of players with that skill. No need to change anything else. Let 'em take a chance on dunking it or swim across water.

Three, reduce the idle timer by 50%. So, if the Scroll is idle for too long, its gone. If ball groups hold onto it for too long, its gone to wherever it needs to go. Back to the temple, keep, whatever. Cut the timers down so the focus is on doing what needs to be done with the scroll rather than what's convenient for some to do with it while not punishing players who worked hard to return it.

This right here is part of something that has bothered me for ages. Why can’t we just choose what scroll we want to go after, rather than waiting for a certain scroll to come up randomly? Seriously, ZoS, that needs to change.

How these quests currently work has really bugged my for ages as well, especially since it seems like it's not truly random either, where it tends to favor giving the quests where the scrolls are still in their temple or in the furthest keep away from your home base and not the scrolls that are ran half way back already or in the closest keep to your home base.

Having it be a list of available (once per day) quests to choose from would be really nice QoL improvement. Same with all the Cyrodiil PvP quests tbh since the capture and scouting quests always give the keeps/resources right at the other factions scroll gates and rarely any of the ring keeps that are more consistently contested/likely to be flipped.

Its like you read my mind.

I also hate the choke points in Cyrodiil. All it does is force moronic and pointless battles at one bridge and one gate.
