Vengeance Causing Huge Lag

Is the Vengeance Campaign the cause of the huge lag spikes that have been ruining our trial progression sessions?

It's a common complaint across many guilds. Groups are getting lag spikes simultaneously and many DCs.

There were other threads about this a few days ago, some people noted the service provider struggling (and thus might be a ddos). It could be a ddos during vengence to make it seem that vengence lags the servers… it could also just be unrelated.

I too have noticed a big increase in lag spikes over the past week. It's ruined at least two trifecta attempts.

I think the problem is with a spike in attacks against IT infrastructure happening at the moment, as well as problems certain service providers do have with there systems, which are essential for the internet.

Not only in ESO, but also in STO and SWToR I had connection problems within the last 7 to 10 days.

And I'm not trying to pit PVP vs PVE folks, I'm rooting for Vengeance success. It may just be coincidence that multiple days of aggressive group-wide lag spikes lined up with the Vengeance campaign, but it might be worth at least looking in to.

If the lag being experienced in PvE currently was due to having 2 PvP servers up and running at the same time, then the lag should be better, not worse, than usual, because usually there's 4 PvP servers running simultaneously, not just 2.

If the lag being experienced in PvE currently was due to having 2 PvP servers up and running at the same time, then the lag should be better, not worse, than usual, because usually there's 4 PvP servers running simultaneously, not just 2.

I'm not tech savvy, but maybe it's the routers or some other piece of infrastructure that is overloaded from extra people trying Vengeance even if it's on fewer servers? I don't know, I hope they resolve it though, having tough progressions ruined to lag is not fun.

i cannot even pick up a chest now the lag is so bad now on eu. it digs up ground about 10 times before it stops now

Both of our trial progs yesterday were ruined to lag spikes and DCs of multiple members, one of the runs was canceled part way through.

It's been happening every night.

Yeah, I don't know what it is, but Vengeance was extremely laggy last night on Xbox NA. Barely anyone on, and yet, my group of 6-8 would all lag at the same time. We were convinced the emp buff caused the lag or that the emp was lagswitching until the issues persisted when we were not fighting the emp. Definitely something to do with their servers.

I had a bad lag spike in Veng before yesterday. This was the first time ever I’ve experienced lag in Vengeance. Would that be because the laggy GH is enabled at the same time, I wonder?

Been like this for over a month for me. I'm sitting at 600 ping with massive spikes up to 1,500+++ and a ton of disconnects. It appears to have something to do with the implementation of Vengeance.

Nope, not likely, in my opinion-- especially if it has "Been like this for over a month" for you, given that Vengeance testing did not begin until just under two weeks ago. Some people seem all too eager to blame Vengeance for everything. My computer crashed last year. I wonder if that was because of Vengeance, even though the first Vengeance test wasn't until this year?

Not likely to be due to Gray Host, either.

My guess is that any recent increases in lag, disconnects, etc., are much more likely to be related to the facts that we're in the biggest holiday season of the year (the approach of Christmas), when online shopping is at an annual peak-- and lots of shady individuals, groups, and governments ramp up their cyber warfare and attempts to steal identities, steal money, commit fraud, and infiltrate computer systems everywhere. Lots of internet traffic, and a likely increase in security measures in response.

admittedly I have been playing Helldivers and Bellwright more than ESO lately, but when I logged in to do dailies there were some odd spikes at first when doing trades. Things seem more stable now but there probably is some issues behind the scenes. As to what, I have no clue. I don't plan to be on that long as Bellwright is summoning me.

Many folks in our groups were lagging out at the same time while this event has been going on. It's sad that so many people can be affected and ZOS doesn't even address it.

We'll see if things go back normal when Vengeance is turned off.

i too have noticed this several times over the past week. Ruined my marauder attempt in IA twice now, AND has caused us to wipe on a normal difficulty KA to some trash.

Maintenance tomorrow can't come fast enough. It seems ZOS has found their breaking point when it comes to Cyrodiil, so when the holidays are over with, ZOS, time to make plans and get stuff done.

vengeance was still in test mode during the recent appearance so there was still only 1 camp available

for the OP, like others said, its extremely unlikely that vengeance has had anything to do with the lag spikes

Or both Vengeance and GH are post hocs here, or only part of a bigger picture.

Exactly this time last year we had horrible lag spikes and disconnects across the entire game, and it turned out that a series of DDOS attacks were responsible for a lot of it. ZOS has explicitly mentioned that their anti-DDOS measures impact performance.

We had two trials today after Vengeance ended. Neither had simultaneous multiplayer lag spikes.

Maybe it's because the suggested DDOS "seasonal" attacks ended though.

i notic since vengeance end today my 6 trial run all fine ,me and my friend not got high ping/game crash/server kick/low fps any more
there player from Japan/chinese/taiwan/newyork/Santiago and different instances(like i doing pug vka and crash, same time friend PB core got lag too) so i think it not from us pc or Internet or addon and it from vengeance

We had two more trifecta trial progs tonight and a few dungeon achieve runs today, no multiplayer lag spikes or DCs.

Some folks proposed it was seasonal DDOS attacks, but it seems weird that they stopped once Vengeance ended.

Two more good trial progs last night. None of our trial progs had multiplayer lag spikes this week, coincidentally when Vengeance was turned off.

some folks suggested the lag spikes were seasonal DDOS attacks or holiday traffic, but it seems weird how they were somehow coordinated with Vengeance.
