This is the perfect new Class.

Consider having a line to summon armor and permanent or temporary automata. Consider a line for gadgetry and traps and grenades. Consider being able to support with Tonal Magic for that “D&D Bard”-esque line with an Elder Scrolls lore-friendly flavor. We’ve seen examples of NPCs in like every mainline game who research the Dwemer, and we’re even able to use some of their stuff along the way. It’d fit really well in the lore, and could still leave a lot of mysteries for the future.

Now that we have Subclassing, any Class is essentially three skill lines that any character can equip at will. But that also allows people who want to experience a new Class to do so as well. It’d give us more things to farm from the Archive, a new set of skills to fight with or against in PvP, and a whole new set of strategies in building.

I still remember how exciting the announcement of Arcanist was. I was so excited to plan out a whole new backstory for a whole new character. It was the most excited I’ve ever been for ESO, and I know that everyone was talking about it. I want that again. New Classes drive a lot of hype, and it’d definitely give people reason to come back (and pay for the content) after being let down this year.

This is the kind of thing I find most interesting is that it does also give a new attack style.

They did put up that whole "Class identity" thing last week (which unfortunately for me does make me think that "new Class" is not coming for quite a while), but an Artificer would fill a niche that none of the other classes really have: a trap fighter.

I'm imagining placeable traps that you can trigger on command - we don't have any skills like that anywhere. We have Daedric Mines from Sorc, as well as Fire Rune from the MG line and Trap from the FG line, but all of those are mines you place and are triggered when an enemy steps on it. Imagine a skill that allowed you to place a trap that you could trigger on demand - I'm thinking like a set of conduits you put across a PvP chokepoint and then blast it as a ball group comes though.

Automata definitely need to be included, but that may end up overlapping with the concept of sorc pets or necro summons. Still, it'd be interesting to have a line that has *both* permanent (double-bar) spiders and spheres and temporary skeevatons that charge forward and explode.

All we can count on is a Dwemer costume and Dwemer-style skill styles.

There's really nothing stopping ZOS from introducing a new Class or combat-oriented skill line while they're working on the Class rework/refresh. There are different teams to work on different initiatives, so maybe they've already planned ahead for introducing these new skills sooner rather than later.

I just don't think this specific NPC should be the one to teach us these skills, because we're supposed to meet him from Tanlorin's questline, and it'd be strange having characters from Companion questlines also exist outside of those questlines — where are we supposed to have met them first?

So because you wouldn't personally play it, that means that nobody else would?

Just iterating how it'd be nice if I could enjoy something new for once.

I rather have classes and skills that are long established in Elder Scrolls before we get new or extremely rare things that barely exist and will not be seen in eras to come.

Where is unarmed? Or more classic destruction magic, or alteration, illusion types of magic etc.
