How do yall feel about class identity being cosmetic?

My idea is to keep subclasssing but let me explain.

My main is a nightblade with herald of the tome and aedric spear. I see my nightblade as a sneakty rogue so bright lights and green beams are not befitting but what if my arcanist beam was shadowy instead of bright green and my templar eadric skills were also more muted in colour ? Just a vague example but you can go tomtown with how creative this could get.

    Those should be added as Skill Styles so we have the option to use them or not.

    It would fix my roleplaying problem but wouldn’t fix my theorycrafting/build mindset problem. An improvement, but not the sole solution to my joy.

    If you are talking about making skills look different based on your official class, that sounds pretty cool.

    But if this is about keeping class identity along with subclassing, that ship has sailed. The two can not coexist.

    It sounds like $ signs for Zenimax. But they may just end up pushing players away if it's all relegated behind Crates and FOMO offers that end up making all these styles a jumbled mess to even attempt to obtain a complete set.

    Basically facing Destiny's Sunsetting problem, (still annoyed that I was never there for the Mac 10 looking SMG - just the look, not stats or anything)... And it's also them fishing for your wallet in tandem.

    And who knows if these styles will be any good. Got the Malacath's Fury skill style for Merciless Resolve (seems good for Necro colors) while fishing for gems for a hairstyle, and it doesn't augment the weapon glow (or heal). So you get clashing colors from the skill with the red weapon glow and blue throw. If that's "Legendary" quality, color me unimpressed.

    Having class themes for all the class skills would be great from a thematic perspective. So as you say NB beam is not glowing neon green, maybe the warden spec bow is a ice shard, a DKs frost cloak is red like flame, etc.

    Yes, I want all green and black for my arc base, and all blue, purple for my necro, all red for my sorc despite sorc color coding being purple, because she's an orc and (in her opinion) orcs dont do purple lol.
    All the colors. Earned in game preferably.

    Muted colors too for accessibility. Green hurts ur eyes, make it a desaturated version. 2nd best thing to a no flash toggle in settings.

    And and, give us a stampede color already. Only useful 2 handed pve skill and its the only one with no color.

    Come to think of it, someone in another thread suggest a color picker for basic cmyk colors which is an even better idea. Then the decs can focus on the creative ones like that leaves anim for wall.

    We do need more skill styles so those subclassing can still RP their chosen class in some way, or tweak it as required.

    We should also have the option to turn off other players' skill styles if we needed to. Some of the brighter skill styles are painful to look at.

    I'd prefer them to stop trickling out skill styles as gem store and crate items and just let us use that system to choose the colours. As someone else said keep the paid versions for bigger changes (like the one which changed the warden's cliff racer to a crow) but let us choose colours for the existing effects.

    My main character is a templar because I wanted her to use destruction and restoration magic and back when I started that was the best option to simulate that combination. But I don't want to be forced into ZOS's idea of how a templar looks (or anyone else's) or have all my skills flashing blinding yellow.

    lol you guys still agreeing with each other after all these years to bring popularity look to forum ? makes a refreshing change to calling for nerfs though, if they do a proper job at refreshing our identities it will have nothing to do with you lot, stop tampering with absolutely everyones chars for the sake of a few people would be good start after the 'refresh'

    lol and infact i am actually really looking forward to THE end gamers living in everyone elses wallets again too, and the embarrassment that came with it, not actually. make the UK flag great again and do something useful for once
