Is your character inspired by another fictional or non-fictional character/person?? If yes, then who??

For me, it’s Clive Rosfield from Final Fantasy XVI!! I enjoyed the entire game and I find his story extremely relatable. I personally resonate with many of his traits such as having great ambitions, drive and an unassailable resolve for victory and success.

Clive would totally be a Dragonknight if he’s in ESO! You can’t tell me that doesn’t look like volatile armor and molten armaments!! 🔥

Only two of my characters did I have a specific person/character in mind when I created them. Most I just had an idea how I would play them and tried for an appropriate look. Okay I lied there were three characters I tried to make like specific people/characters from outside the game. I wanted a Necromancer that looked as anti-necromancer as possible so I tried to make him look like a Ken doll.
THe other two I tried to make one look like Snake Plissken from Escape From New York and the other I tried for Grace Jones character in Conan the Barbarian. I've changed her attire since this to something more like the movie. I don't try and play the personalities just wanted the look.

I have an orange Khajiit named Garfiel-Dar whose inspiration may be a bit obvious.

My Imperial City noble Paris has a backstory inspired by Paris of Troy, but onscreen post-planemeld takes things far more seriously and is played a lot closer in personality to Hector. Little bit of Orpheus thrown in also.

Various pets and mounts of mine tend to be named after greek/roman mythology figures.

I don't currently have any ESO characters inspired by other characters. I have 3 who are ESO's versions of characters I make in multiple games - one is my standard TES main, one is my main in most other western RPGs and one is my 'experimental' character who started out as a one-off in Dragon Age Origins and stuck around.

I used to have a character based on Link from Legend of Zelda. I wanted to see how a character who doesn't use magic (so basically no class skills) would work, then realised for quest purposes they'd have to use magic items given to them by other people and at that point I realised I was basically making Link...so I did.

(If anyone's curious the short answer is it works, as long as you keep healing potions handy, but it's a bit boring, which is why I didn't keep him around.)

That's cool! Which race did you pick for Althea? I'm imagining Imperial because of the emphasis on trade in past TES games, or maybe a Breton?

I started thinking about how I'd make Fitz, and immediately ran into my on-going problem that I need wardens to be able to summon a wolf instead of a bear.

If we could morph the bear into a wolf I would have to consider deleting one character to make space for Fitz. The hair would be a bit of a problem. Warrior's braid is possible in ESO, but not sure if I would want to make pre-Tom Fitz or if I wanted a badgerlock.

Oooooh, and now I have an idea of a tiny wood elf named Bee.

My first ESO character was based on our wise and powerful Gandalf. I knew nothing about this game but chose a Sorcerer to start off with.

Then in my very first playthrough I met Lyris and it was love at first sight. After many futile hours in the editor I realized that there's no way to get that tall. Thankfully I did not spend any IRL money on those experiments.

My cat however is based on the fine feline asleep on my lap.

My Khajiit character Boymans van Beuningen (Stam Warden Bowzerker) is based on my cat Joy who died back in 2016. His official name was Joy, but when my wife and I adopted him in 2002 at age 4 we affectionately nicknamed him Boy, which grew into Boy-man, which turned into Boymans van Beuningen because that's the name of a famous museum and it sounded like nobility to us.

My main character — and, sadly, the only one I care to play nowadays — isn't based on a specific person/character as a whole, however, half of her name is in memory of a known character from Skyrim: Brelyna Maryon from the College of Winterhold (the one who transforms you into a cow during a side-quest).

That choice came from the silliest of the reasons: after modding Skyrim (specifically, "Bijin Warmaidens"), Brelyna Maryon goes from a hideous Dark Elf to one of the most beautiful among the potential followers (and women in general, "rxkx22" did an awesome job). Though, unlike Brelyna, I made my Maryon as a member of the House Telvanni because of all the Great Houses is the one which fits her best: rude, agnostic and hungry for powah

My Baandari Khajiit Grimoire was inspired by my real life culture! I’m Romani so an itinerant Khajiit with nomadic proclivities was sufficient analog for me to project part of myself into her. t7ys9tmhy5n9.jpeg

Then came Sister Scholastica inspired by my religion and Catholic Nuns. Scholastica is a warrior-nun of Akatosh and the divines. She also had some conflict with Mora and the loss of her eye. And who doesn’t love a little foray into Ancient Roman history when creating Imperials?

    xyet8a9ok0q5.jpeg

Finally, a Shadowscale called Xutha-Tshel or Death-Rattle was inspired adoration of all things Dark Brother/sithis and the macabre joy of worshiping the void.

I guess Kilik from Soul Calibur kinda served as the template for Tryxus.

I was trying to create my own character a long time ago and I came up with the name "Tryxus", but I had no idea what the character would be like. Back then I had also just gotten Soul Calibur 2 for the PS2. So I entered the name Tryxus in the game's Weapon Master Mode and after some deliberation, and also because I liked Kilik's artwork, I picked him as my avatar.

So began Tryxus' journey. Now he's my redemption-seeking druid.

I've been playing the same character since TES Oblivion, a dark-haired Breton mage. In Skyrim, she specialised in elemental magic and daedra conjuration, so I was happy to have found an almost perfect fit for her in ESO's sorcerer class. I miss Icy Spear though, that with Impact perk made her pretty much invincible.
