A Gear Upgrade Question

Something I have wondered about for a long while...if I upgrade a green piece of set gear will the enchant on that piece of gear also upgrade? Or do I need to create the enchant separately?

I have been thinking of giving healing a try and today received four pieces of set gear that look good to me for healing. One piece is green with an enchant already on it. I assume that the enchant is appropriate for the healing gear and therefore would like the best possible version of that enchant should I choose to upgrade. The other three pieces of the set are purple with their own enchants, too.

I'd just like to know so I know what needs doing. I don't want to choose healer and then get kicked when my group dies because I'm not set up properly.

Thank you.

Enchant upgrades with it. See the tooltip on the hover over, vs the middle tooltip showing what it will become:

I believe it depends on the piece of gear.

If it's a piece of set gear that dropped from some content in the game-- overland, dungeon, trial, etc.-- and it dropped with an enchantment already on the item, then upgrading the quality of the item should also upgrade the quality of the enchantment.

However, if it's a piece of crafted gear, or a piece of trash gear that didn't have an enchantment on it, and you enchanted it yourself, then it's my understanding that the enchantment which you applied to the item will not be autonatically upgraded if you upgrade the quality of the item.

I'm not sure about dropped gear where you replaced the default enchantment with a different enchantment.

To be certain, check the numbers on the enchantment both before and after upgrading the item, as shown in the post above.

Yes. Dropped gear effectively has a gold enchant on it and thus will upgrade up to gold. Crafted enchants top out at the color you crafted it at.

Dropped gear with its default enchant raises the enchant as you improve the item.
    Same applies to Transmuted gear.
It only stops rising in level if you put an new enchant on.

    Enchant upgrades with it...

Thanx for the confirmation. I think this might be good news for me toward trying out healing.

Per the other responses, all four pieces of gear came from a quest chain and the trash I killed on that chain. The first item I noticed was the healing staff that I received as a quest reward.

I was going to break it for mats but took a moment to read the set bonuses. Then I received three more items of the same set across the last four parts of the quest chain - one was a ring and the other was necklace. It made me think I should hold onto these, upgrade them and use them to try healing. But I didn't know how upgrading the gear itself would affect the enchant already on the gear. Now I know thanx to you folks and will be on the lookout for a fifth piece to get that five piece bonus.

    Thanx again.

If the enchantment came with the piece of gear, it will upgrade with it. If the enchantment was applied separately, then it will not.

There is also an odd detail in the game.
If you drop a medium armor set, that has Max Stamina enchant applied to it. If you upgrade it to gold quality, enchant will also be upgraded gold quality. Then game would still allow you to enchant it with Gold quality stamina enchant. Essentially nothing changes, but well strange.
