What's the best tip you've picked up from the forums?

I've picked up a few tips from fellow forum posters over the years. What's one tip you've picked up that you use all the time?

For me: For the "change your outfit" daily endeavor, someone suggested just changing your appearance between show helm/don't show helm. It's free, too, so you can immediately switch it back if you want, without it costing anything. I do that every time the endeavor comes up.

Runner up isn't so much of a tip, but something I'd forgotten about (if it was ever part of the tutorial, which I can't remember): when digging for antiquities, after you've completed the antiquity itself, you can connect up the fissures (smoking squares) that usually damage the antiquity and blow up a whole bunch of squares at once with no damage. It's the easiest way to find most of the bonus items. See this video:

Almost too many to list. I've gotten help on a number of topics, and I've found quite the majority of people here at least trying to be helpful (there'll always be the grumps). Most of us here, even during criticism, are here we because we love this game, and want to see it not only succeed long-term, but thrive and dominate.

Also, for the record, the video you linked is from a Guild Mate and friend of mine! Phane is absolute wealth of knowledge on this game.

That mounts have special animations if you hold the jumpkey(spacebar) while standing still. After years of playing I did not know this! Some special animations are really cool, and on certain mounts I always activate the special animations as I love them. (not the overly flashy ones)

ESO players in general have always been very kind and helpful to me. As far as MMO communities go, ESO's is one of the best. (very creative as well, just look at the outfit and housing forums/thread)

Cool! I couldn't believe it when I saw someone talk about the technique here. I'd dug up hundreds of antiquities at that point and had no idea. Thank Phane for creating the video - it's easier to see than to explain.

I should have mentioned that you have to do it at an outfit station. I think it's under Armor Styles. Just doing it through the Collections->Appearance menus (or wherever it's located) won't work. Actually, I've never tried it, but I doubt it would work.

Not really from the forum... at least nothing read here, but now it's here:

The ability to quickly teleport to a house with a banker or merchant while standing in the middle of nowhere and then respawn/teleport back to the exact same spot after completing your business:

It's very simple and free of charge if you teleport from the house with the bank/merchant/storage crates -> to a preview house (that you don't own or have access to) and then leave it.
You end up exactly where you started (outdoors).

Restriction: If you were in a dungeon, you won't be standing inside it, but at least in front of the entrance.

Other possible uses: When collecting materials from find reports that may be located multiple times in the same place,
-->preview house (marked in black on the map) then leave -> respawn of the material guaranteed, even on laggy days.

Unless you're stuck on the loading screen... >:)
    See you!

Maybe the tip I value the most might be that all those items you have to type "DESTROY" to destroy can be marked as junk, then in the Junk tab you can hit the X (on PC) to delete all junk, skipping the "DESTROY' step for every single item in your junk tab.

I ever meet the person who originally posted that here, I'm buying him/her a beer.

There are several add-ons (like "dustman") that can do this without any problems, but be careful when configuring them. Otherwise, you may find yourself wondering why your backpack is still empty after crafting...

This. Except the ignore list needs to be longer. There are a few forum bullies here that tend to disrupt just about every thread yet they're allowed to continue their abuse unabated for some reason.

I don't think either of those things is true.

Change your outfit refers to use of the outfit station, and hide your helm is not part of that. Hide your shoulders would work though I suppose.

And antiquities can still be damaged after you've uncovered them.

They're both true. I do the outfit change all the time. I did add a note in a later post that you have to do it at an outfit station, through the armor styles, and not through the Collections->Appearance menu. Unfortunately I can't edit the original post.

And yes, antiquities can still be damaged after you've uncovered them, but not if you join fissures together, as illustrated in the video. That's what I was referring to. Watch the video.

    I have two silly ones.

I learned that you can teleport to the Harborage from a wayshrine (AFTER I completed Cadwell Gold on my main).

Also, when Antiquities were released, I missed the part that you can put the Antiquarian eye on the wheel and use it for finding the dig site. So, for a time (until I learned about it on the forum) I was running like a headless chicken all over the supposed dig areas while trying to find the dig site by spotting it.

The path between fissures need to be at the same level and not the soil covered or big rubble pile. You then need the bar full (so 4 brushed) and the trowel one of the fissures.

The trick is that when you join the fissures together, all the squares (fissure and non-fissure) have to be dug to the same level. You'll get a feel for how many times you need to dig on each square after you've done it a few times.

So let's say there's two fissures separated by 1 square. Fissure 1 looks like it has big rocks on it, the square in between them has little rocks on it, and fissure 2 has big rocks on it. The square in between is the "lowest", so you have to dig fissure 1 and fissure 3 so they match the leave of that square. You'd dig once in fissure 1 and once on fissure 3 to get them to the same level. Then you'd use the trowel tool one one of the fissures. You'll see a blue outline around all the squares that will blow.

Not sure if that helps because it's difficult to describe, but if you watch the video I posted, you'll see him digging all the squares in between the fissures to the same level, and the fissures themselves, if necessary.

And, as Gabriel_H said, the level has to be one of the two lowest ones for it to work.

The true mini-game is getting the antiquity uncovered while simultaneously building a path betweent the fissures. Make sure you know where the antiquity is and that the path doesn't cross any uncleared bits or you'll damage it and have to dig again.

If you join all the fissures, then most of the time it will uncover 3 treasures, but sometimes it is only 2. If it is only 2 pick a big spot near to the antiquity and try to clear it down with the time left - good chance that's where the 3rd is hiding.

On rare occasions, it won't uncover any bonus items. It's happened to me a few times. But most of the time, you'll get all of them, or two. Just wanted to say that using this method isn't a guarantee, but it's much better than digging around on random squares for the bonus items.
