Wait a minute... The wall isn't going away?!

    I can't even...

Of course not. It needs to be there for new players otherwise nothing would make sense. ZOS could of course create instances for those who complete the quest to take it down, but then those people would lose access to the dailies that drop the motifs, styles and fragments.

It has to be down for those who went through this long tedious grind to bring it down or none of this would make sense.

Also, from what I understand the wall is a ONE TIME event. Not something that everyone new to the zone will have to do for themselves. If players miss the event then they just miss it.

The event is bad, but I gotta say the first side quest I tried was actually pretty good, about the haunted house. I know most people dont care about that but with all the negativity for the dlc, that much should be said, the quest team usually does a good job. No idea for the main quests yet or if the other side quests are as good, but it gives me hope for the rest of the content.

Corelanya Manor was my favorite side quest from West Solstice. Unfortunately, all other side quests in that zone don't even come close. A few were okay. Many were not that interesting. Two were sadly completely lorebreaking. But tastes differ, of course.

I am big on lore for the series so I probably will feel the same way though I hope to find something good of course. Could you say briefly in spoilers how they are lore breaking? Just want an idea what I'm getting into lol.

I am really hoping that other side of the wall is mind blowing lol it really needs to be after all this buildup.
Tes fans hate Ulfric Stormcloak for imagined bigotry but love Dagoth Ur, the Empire, and the Telvanni unironically.

There are two Sanguine-related quests in West Solstice and the way Sanguine gets depicted is not only untypical (and very tame), but in one case even completely contradicting what Sanguine stands for.

    I was disappointed, sadly.

This event is awful but there's actually something for people who don't own Solstice to do which is a first

Unfortunately, if “what you want to do” is something like Bolgrul dailies to level your or your Companions’ Undaunted lines, you can’t do those whether you own Solstice or not.

There is a very strong undercurrent of “if you’re not doing wall dailies, you’re playing this game wrong” right now. I’d take an event which doesn’t rub itself in your face and disrupt your actual play any day of the week.

I think if you are doing wall dailies you're also playing the wrong game because you could be playing one that's fun instead :D

EDIT: misread because of that brain fog again - some days you should just give up and shut up! [facepalm]

How can people be so judgmental ? As if there is a way you MUST play the game in order to play it " Correctly ". If you don't play Everything the way THEY say you Must, then you are deemed to be playing the game " Wrong "

I don't think it's judgemental, I think they genuinely didn't imagine people wouldn't want to join in this "historic" event they've hyped up all year. We have a dozen events a year with boring repetitive quests so why should this be different? They didn't think about the large number of players who don't own the content so don't really care about opening it up, and the poor rewards aren't really an incentive.

Not that it's fun if you do own it, but we at least have the camps to do. They aren't that fun either but at least I'm building up a good supply of style mats for when nobody does them any more, like all the other world events. Which will probably be right after the event because everyone's sick of them.

It's just another example of them not really understanding their player base.

I'm not sure how the instancing works or how the wall could be there for some people but not for others, but I do know that on PTS
the wall was there for me until I zapped it during the quest, and then it was gone. (See the screencap I posted earlier.)

It didn't seem like I was transported to a different instance, since I think the same people were around me before and after. So maybe there's a way for things to be modified on a per-character basis, kind of like how an NPC can be there for one player but not there for another player depending on their respective quest progress.

The "interlude" quest involving getting through the wall (Crossing the Wall) will still be part of the storyline after the event. I expect they'll just handwave the dailies and gloss over the Fortress since the latter won't be around anymore. But players doing the quest later will still get their moment of
    zapping the wall
to bring closure to the whole thing.
