I'm not too familiar with it, but from what I've gathered, it's a tether between two players, that's like a piece of string. The players have to keep a certain distance from each other, because if they come too close to each other they will wipe, and while keeping that distance, they have to look around where the giant sword has dropped in the arena, and move there so that the sword can cut the tether. Imagine two people tied by a string between them and they have to guide the string to be cut by a giant pair of scissors. I think this has to be done within a certain amount of time, but I'm not sure on that part, hopefully someone else can chime in.
