Big Issues - Compendium

All these I see are the biggest issues, currently.

One Tamriel:
Quality of life upgrade, big content addition, for PvE. This update, after years of settling, has destroyed the foundation of Cyrodiil. The three banner war is now a free for all with zero loyalty to an alliance. Thus, has disincentivized the goal of winning a campaign for YOUR alliance. It’s the largest problem with Cyrodiil and no one talks about it.

Hybridization:
Really don’t know why this was added, it was the start of losing character identities, and it was the start of many many balance issues and the original “hit” put out on theorycrafting.

Subclassing:
Neat idea with terrible implementation and even worse consequences. This changed the game about as much as One Tamriel, solo PvErs have more freedom but it killed the foundation of ESO’s classes and combat. Not going to beat a dead horse here but will say this is/will kill ESO if it’s not looked at.

Scribing:
Overall a decent update, added variety to certain playstyles however has several overtuned scripts or skills while has several others that are mostly useless. Combined with Subclassing/Hybridization there are certain skills that are far far above anything else the game has to offer as far as opportunity cost goes.

Healing:
Specifically in PvP healing is way overtuned. Cross healing CANNOT go away, it would kill gameplay for people outside of groups, which is the majority of Cyrodiil. However, healing in general needs nerfed.

Access to Majors/Minors:
It’s too easy, these are given away with no trade off most the time. Just going to point out a skill that everyone loves because from a balance standpoint it’s way overpowered and thats why people love it and defend it. HURRICANE, best example of giving away majors/minors for free. HURRICANE is what, a buff bar skill that gives resolve, like say Volatile Armor? Nope, it’s a damage skill that lasts 20s and gives away resolve/expedition. This is one of many, especially with scribing, that need to be looked at. Skills that give majors shouldn’t be three headed monsters.

Armor/Sets:
Hybridization changed all of this, it’s a complete disorganized mess, there are so many dead sets and a handful of good sets. There’s minimal value in certain stats (health recov, max stam, etc) because hybridization allows 30+ attribute points into health. Night Mothers used to be a decent set, but now anyone can run Deep Fissure or Ele Sus even though their spammable is physical damage. HA passives are upsettingly bad.

There’s more but my boss just gave me a weird look.

This sounds like pvp so I won't speak on it. Just it's nice to know I'm not the only dude getting weird looks for being on the forums when I should be working.

    Hahah

My viewpoints tend to be rooted from PvP but most of these are game wide issues, minus the ones specifically called out for PvP.

I won't argue that point for sure. I know balance is in the toilet. I primarily do vet and hm trials and dungeons and really have no pvp experience except when I need stuff from the assault or support lines. So I don't wanna speak about stuff I don't understand. I do know that things have gotten weird since subclassing and it's very contentious. I guess we can only hope it gets better. I have hope but also expect to be disappointed.

eso development has been near dead/on life suppport for years and years. The game hasnt really adapted or evolved like it should have. Mostly because they put all their eggs in the other game which is now dead.

hybridization and subclassing are talking points and not much else. Weak development focused primarily on getting new players to temporarily play has dragged this game down.

every new area for ten years is a newbie zone. Dungeons havent changed format in 10 years, releases have gotten weaker and weaker over time. But no..it cant be that.. its gotta be hybridization and subclassing. lol.

    what did they really expect?

    Communication & Community Management:
    1. Lack of a long-term roadmap and status updates on major initiatives like combat and performance.
    2. Most communication is focused on the recent events, longstanding issues stop receiving attention after a certain amount of time.
    3. Communication is often vague and contains a lot "stay tuned" type messaging, despite its frequent poor reception.
    4. Topic follow-up has room for improvement. We often hear "we're passing that feedback along" on pain points and then receive no subsequent updates or course corrections. (Hip flaps, I'm looking at you)
    5. The forums contain many unanswered questions, just using my post history as an example. There are threads directed towards ZOS, looking for mission statements or status updates do not get replies.
    6. PTS feedback is rarely engaged by any actual ZOS developers.
    7. PTS feedback often does not result in issues being fixed before releases.
    8. Streamer retention seems quite low. Many knowledgeable content creators have left the game, partially because of their experiences with ZOS.
    9. Very little client-facing ownership of mistakes. When we do, it's corporate buzz phrases like "thanks for your patience". Big fiascos like U35 rarely see any reflection or candid conversation with those impacted.
    10. Recent surveys sent out feel a little disconnected from the actual feedback in the threads here and on Reddit. This creates an impression that the feedback is not being passed along or is not being understood.

    Combat:
    1. Performance issues like skills not activating and other input lag have persisted for nearly a decade.
    2. Class balance is in an awkward spot. Some classes are being completely overshadowed by others.
    3. Subclassing irrevocably shook up the class balance and we don't really know when it will be adjusted.
    4. Low confidence in combat leadership.
    5. Incomplete hybridization.
    6. Vast majority of sets are not viable outside of niche RP applications.

    Monetization:
    1. Too much reliance on FOMO has resulted in a game where there's very little earnable content. This problem becomes very pronounced outside of base game and contributes to poor player retention.
    2. Systems like horse training are more of a chore than anything, which conveniently have a solution in the crown store.
    3. Seals of Endeavors rewards have too high of an opportunity cost. Getting one item now may mean missing out during the next several FOMO cycles.
    4. Features like armory and outfit slots are character bound.
    5. The vast majority of houses and mounts are in timed-deals.
    6. High prices make the purchases prohibitive. Things like skill styles should be a fraction of their current prices.
    7. Gifting access remains a challenge for most.
    8. No crown-to-gold exchange has been launched.

    Release quality
    1. Many report the writing quality has worsened from Greymoor onwards.
    2. Zone features have been getting progressively lighter since High Isle, with the most recent year being the lightest yet.
    3. Scribing, while a strong feature, hasn't received any new skills, leaving it feeling like an incomplete feature.
    4. Many events launch with bugs, varying in severity. The Anniversary year events in particular were pretty bad, but this most recent Wall event has its fair share.
    5. Earnable features like motifs are not available at release.
    6. Rewards are largely focused around events. Permanently available rewards are very light, especially outside of base game.
    7. Rewards in some events are lacking. The Writhing Wall event is the most recent example.
