Problem with Housing window Lights

I placed a window in each end of the open alcoves in my house and placed them both so that the light would shine into the alcove and not into the room. But the light just shines through the window on the other side and into the opposite room. I tried to put blocks between the two windows but nothing stops the light from shining through.

I love how it looks but it doesn't make sense to have sunlight coming in through a window in an inside wall. Does anyone know a workaround for this?

I've been playing since the beginning and haven't really got into housing yet but they should definitely find a way to fix that. I know people like to have light effects coming through floors for example so I don't know if there is a work around unless Zos changes it.

I don't like light coming through floors or walls. I want the light in the room I place it in, not shining through into an adjacent room.

Windows have one side where light shines into the room, and one side where it doesn't. The problem I am having is that I have placed two windows facing each other and mistakenly thought each would block the other's light from shining into the room. But they don't.

It would be nice if we could toggle window light off like we do with other lights.

What is stopping them from implementing light clipping, esp. through walls/floors/ceilings?

Yes, this is such a strange effect. The first time I placed a window and the light was reflecting on the floor of the room below, I was kinda baffled.
It would be great if they just added all the window styles with transparent windows. The ones that are colored could still be stained, then this presumably wouldn't be an issue.

It's nice that they give us a dark side but that only works on outer walls. I tried this window in another spot on a very thick wall and it shines through it, too.

I guess I have to either live with impossible sunlight coming though windows deep inside a house or remove them and try something else. I hate to do that because they look really good but that may be my only choice.

Only static objects (those already in the house and that can't be altered) stop the light bleed. While on one hand I do find it annoying, in some situations it is advantageous - though where I have used it like that was not through a wall piece.

A lot of players use the bleed to hide lights in other objects or behind floors or walls to give atmosphere or an effect to their build. Changing it now would cause a small uproar and ruin a lot of player homes.

That said, there should be an option to have a piece of furniture "block" the light bleed.

This is an old issue that I noticed with windows with light. I am not sure if it is going to be solved, since we waited 7 years to get Alinor doors or windows.

I get this problem a lot, and try to do the builds with this issue in mind. Also, while the lightsource is static - the sun - the light from the window will not adjust accordingly as you rotate it, so you can have opposing windows shedding light in a hallway, even if one window is against the external light source. Sometimes you want this effect, sometimes you don't.

Another issue which I would like addressed, is to be able to have at least a few light intensity settings, available only in the housing editor, so you could make a light source stronger or weaker. Some lanterns are very bright, while others are quite dim, for example. So, from the editor, set the brightness higher or lower, while outside the editor, the light source has just the on/off toggle. This will help a lot, and save housing slots for many builds!

I agree with all of this. I think this is just the way lighting works in this game, it seems to be a hodge-podge of different pieces of code based on all of the copyright names onscreen when I log in. It might not be able to be changed.

I would also love to see the ability to not only change the brightness of all light sources, but also be able to specify the radius of the light. Having to choose a certain style of light based on these factors does not always work for housing and can be extremely limiting.

EDIT: I should mention that I don’t know if the second option is possible either, I mentioned it more as a wish list item
