Yes, I am still doing these writs without an add-on, I prefer to keep track of what I'm getting to know what to put where. Don't know if that makes a difference but it should. I just log in, do the writs, then this happens.

The only addons I have are HarvestMap, circular minimap and that new furnshing plan addon by a guy with 707 in his name. Maybe that is it. I thought it was going to show what furnishing plans I did not have, but all I can see is it adds filters on crafting stations and I am not using that part. I can’t see how that would cause the problem but you never know. Thanks for the suggestion.

I turned off that other addon but I will have to wait until tomorrow to see if it made a difference. Once the assistant spawns behind me it works fine for the rest until the next day.

I'm glad someone else noticed this, it's driving me nuts. It started happening since the patch release, at first I thought it was just a positioning glitch (for instance when unsummoning one assistant and then summoning a different one), but it's happening consistently, even with just a single summon, and everything else is as usual: the camera facing forward, on an even height, and yet the assistant appears behind the character. If I get a recording of it I'll post it, but I just wanted to chime in that it's definitely an issue currently happening on PC/NA @ZOS_Kevin.

Sorry it’s taken me a while to get back to the game after some IRL issues and do some testing.

This is definitely related to reward boxes. If I open the boxes and do not move my character before summoning any assistant, they appear behind me every time. If I open the boxes and then move my character forward slightly before summoning them, then the assistant will appear in front of me as is normal. I usually have my character facing directly south when summoning the, not sure if that is relevant or not. I can do some more testing to see.

Maybe there is now some default to summon assistants north of the character or something like that? Is the coordinate system undefined until movement after opening boxes? Could this be related to that strange case when nightblades get the buff to stealthed attacks on training dummies when they are facing in only one particular direction? I can’t remember which direction that was.

I hope this is all helpful information in debugging and fixing this issue.

EDIT: Same results for facing north and northwest when summing assistant after opening boxes, they are still behind character. Also add containers with lancers from Antiquity dig as causing this, when opening the container boxes to assign the character’s alliance to the lancer and remove it, summoning the banker to put it into the bank for another character causes the banker to be behind the character.

I already found that the character’s orientation with respect to compass directions before opening boxes did not matter, and if I move the character after opening boxes but before summoning it did. I am not sure what the camera position would have to do with it, but I tried that - rotated camera around to face my character and it did not make a difference either, the assistant is still behind my character.

I always have the character facing away from the camera when opening boxes, that is just a natural way for me to play with controller. I move the character forward with the left joystick and use the right stick to make them turn. I don’t know if others using controller do this or if keyboard and mouse works this way.
