Why are you banning people for informing their members of this issue? I have received a social ban and can no longer use any guild bank or store because I sent out a GodSend mass mail informing folks why we are revoking bank access until this issue is resolved. This is utterly ridiculous and a completely atrocious way to treat your customers who are doing their best and spending a lot of real-world money on keeping people interested in your game. If I had treated my customers like this, I would have lost my business 20 years ago. I'm really getting tired of your AI bans, it's not helpful, and it's driving people away!

We'd like to help expedite lifting any social bans that triggered due to sending an mass mail to your guild members about this. Please reply (or DM) with your affected UserID, PSN ID, or Xbox GamerTag.

Hey if you give Jessica and the team your ID, they'll get you unbanned faster since this a reasonable use of mass mail. 😀

That was a nice gesture. I don't take anything for granted so I personally appreciate the lifeline.

Yup! And people then learn what to avoid and can decide if they wish to use guild-wide mails or avoid the risk of a temporary social ban. Everybody gets to decide what's best for them. Even ZOS is acknowledging the legitimacy & usefulness of guild-wide mail and is offering to expedite resolution of any temp social bans. <3

In my opinion, I'm going to meet members where they are, whether it's the MOTD, Discord, Guild Chat or, yes, Guild Mails.

Yes it's just one-click to see the MOTD or a couple clicks to view a Discord notification, but not everyone does. It doesn't make them substandard members in my opinion, but maybe that's just me...

can confirm. been a member of many big guilds and i don't pay attention to MOTD because that's rarely ever the kind of info that is there. there's not enough space on the guild info page, so it spills over to there. most guilds will put some weekly info in there (like contests, raffle winners, big sellers, etc), but anything major super important emergency (like guild history isn't working SO DON'T BUY RAFFLE TICKETS!!!!!) will go in an in game mail. these get read because they aren't sending them out every day. i might get 2 or 3 a year per guild

I'm on console so I haven't ever received a mass mail. Instead officers will periodically bring this up in chat and others will do the same for stuff like this. I'd prefer a mail because that seems exhausting. But it's not base game functionality and console only recently received add-ons. I'm not sure that the add-on for mail is even one of them.

I don't read MOTD every time it pops up because it has a lot of guild information that I already know or don't need. Like the winners of a raffle that I didn't buy tickets to participate in.

I don't believe any of the mass mailing add-ons are available on console. And even if they become so, I am not touching them with a 10-foot pole because I don't wanna be social banned, thanks.

I do feel tempted sometimes to hide away some message in the middle of the MOTD that says "if you actually have read this, mail me for a mystery prize" because there is definitely a whole lotta nobody reading it. But I get it when it pings with mostly raffle updates. It's why any major important dire news, I will slam at the very top in the hopes suddenly different-looking text will gain most of the guild's attention.

One of my guilds actually did that once.

I know that a lot of people (myself included) will close MOTDs pretty well instantly. I'll at least mouse over it to see if there's anything new before dismissing the notification, but there was a point where one of my guilds (which updates theirs daily) would republish it 3 or more times in succession as they fixed typos and formatting (protip: proofread before publishing it), so if you were online during that time you were getting constant "MOTD updated" notices.

There are a lot of guild tools that ESO could have and doesn't. Sure, not everyone can be bothered to join a Discord, but then you should also not complain that you're missing information.

I don’t ever read them because most of them never change.

I also don’t use discord now because I don’t have a trials group or a dungeon group anymore. My main guild has used guild text chat in the past but that doesn’t happen now because they assume you are on discord 24/7. I would actually like guild mail messages, but that’s just me.

wow had a calendar that was great (once you figured out time zones XD). i miss having an in game calendar both for guild things and it would have all the game events on there too of course. i don't think i've seen that in any other games i've played

Yeah I have to somewhat sheepishly admit, I stopped regularly reading the MOTD in my guilds a long time ago because it hardly ever contains any important new information, and is like 90% stuff I've read before or updates about raffles and stuff that I don't really find super relevant - if I won the raffle I'll get a mail about it, if I didn't win I don't really care lol.

My guilds send out occasional mass mails for more important updates, and that does get my attention.
(I do follow my guilds on discord though, so I get any important info there - but many players don't use discord).

Also, IIRC, at one point there was a bug where you would get notifications about the MOTD being updated over and over again even though it had only been changed once, so that kind of desensitized me to it too.

Anyway, my point is I think mass mailing serves a purpose and should be a built-in guild feature (perhaps with a limit to how often such mails can be sent, and/or an option for players to opt out of receiving them if they find them intrusive).

That really put people off the MotD.

I remember at the time many players embracing 'No, Thank You!' that has an option to either redirecting MotD update notifications to the chat or sending them straight to the void.

I am guessing that many of those players never changed the setting back to receiving notifications.
